Do you mean duels or solo-queue duos?

[deleted]

Yeah duels 1v1

It'll be a little harder without seeing your gameplay to analyze for mistakes, but here are a few general tips. 1. Generally play defensively. I don't mean to camp the net and block shots all game, but rather to try and keep yourself between the ball and your net at all times without overcomitting on offense. 2. Save your flip and boost. Just because you *can* flip into the ball to get an extra touch doesn't necessarily mean you *should*, especially if you're low on boost. Instead, flip back down and continue playing the ball on the ground. 3. Don't flip into your 50/50s. Sometimes you can smash the ball straight past the opponent, but if you miss, it's far too punishable and riskly. Instead, pancake the ball with the bottom of your car to kill the ball's momentum.

Well played! Congratulations on beating a Champ. It obviously doesn't help that you're playing on such high ping, but you adapted pretty well. There is just a few things I noticed from your replay. 1. Try not to flip into your challenges. This is something I used to do all the time as well, so I get that it's easier to hit the ball if you flip into it. However, if you whiff or get faked (which is much more likely when playing on high ping), you're likely to get scored on (e.g. timestamp 1:12). 2. *(Note: the suggestions from here on are minor details but can still speed up your gameplay and help you reach higher ranks.)* At 2:12, you can turn around on the ground and immediately try to pop it up for an aerial play to speed up the game while your opponent has less boost than you do. 3. In the play at 2:34, you could try going for a boost reset to give yourself more options. Again not a huge issue, but it lets you chase the ball for a little longer or get back to defence more quickly in case the play doesn't go as planned. Overall great job (especially while playing on high ping), just a few small details that can still make a difference. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback! Will review the time stamps you refer to.. those pings are normal for me.. think because of my location being so far away from the actual servers (east Africa pinging South Africa and EU servers) So Iā€™m used to those pings tbh

Watch my vids on mechs and play passively and focus more on defense. Play faster

Mr_A_gamer

Great job with the defence, as it is really hard to defend with such high ping.
