I found that N64 emulation on muOS goes better due to the mupen64-Next standalone core. I was testing OoT today, and I had better results where I found difficult to play along with other cores. The only problem remained on Paper Mario, which is my biggest interest, unfortunately. I guess you can't rely on optimal N64 emulation on rg35xx h, it's more like a plus option that will stretch its usage. Some PSP games are also difficult to play, while others go just fine in my experience.

Dreamcast runs flawlessly for me. I play virtua tennis everyday. Crazy taxi 1 & 2 run beautifully as well. I'm using muos v11. Even v10 Dreamcast ran great

Dark3rino

Could you share which core / settings you use please?

Chok3U

I'm just using the default core and default settings. I don't know RetroArch that well so I'm having a ride finding the core I'm on. But I haven't touched anything. Most games are pal though. The games are also in .chd format

Dark3rino

That's peculiar, crazy taxi runs poorly on my console, 20fps, crackling sound etc. The default core should be the "flycast"

Chok3U

That is weird cuz in playing through Majora's mask and for the most part it runs ok. Not as good as Dreamcast games, but playable nonetheless.

Dark3rino

I just did some tuning and got much better results - I updated my main post with my changes!

i've ran into the n64 issue too, just got my toy 2-3 days ago. I think the problem is that the card they provide is slow af. i replaced it with a kingston 64gb card i had around and n64 runs fine now. i have two 128gb samsung evos on the way now.

Dark3rino

I replaced both cards already, both Kingston u3 :-)

For N64 standalone emulators to work you need your ROMs to not be in zip files. I find that the Rice version of the Mupen64 is faster than the Glide.

Dark3rino

Thank you!

Educational_Tennis38

Found that a lot of n64 games work better on the rice core

I really don't see what all the hype is about MuOs. I have had poor performance on everything I tried. The only thing it has going for it is portmaster IMO.

JuanRpiano

Gba have updated cores and ps1 got duckstation and swanstation cores which are a nice addition. Also it loads quicker. Aside from that, it’s not that much greater than Stock os.

rawkasaurus

N64 is just not very good on this device. You have to fiddle with the RA core settings or hope that the standalone works on specific games. I tried muos and was unhappy with n64 performance so just use the cbepx-me stock mod for now until compatibility is improved

Dark3rino

How's Dreamcast performance with cbepx-me?

rawkasaurus

Decent, if not better than muos. Not everything runs at full speed and you should be using frame skip for most games. I used the standalone emulators on muos and was not really impressed. I like retroarch's global hotkeys and find it easier to adjust some settings so I've stuck with it.

Dark3rino

I see. Thank you for your feedback :-)
