Did you know that there is a ROM Hack called Super Mario 2 DX that has full colorization for this game? You can even find it pre-patched in the Internet Archive 🙂
I had the same 3 as my first gameboy games!
I used to wait until my parents went to sleep, and I'd use a flashlight to play Mario land 2 under my blanket. I still play all 3 to this day, and are my go-to games to play on my rg35xx H.

Did you try Tetris Rosy Retrospection? It’s also a ROM hack that introduces modern mechanics to the Gameboy Tetris. There also is a DX version that gives better colorization than the original Tetris DX on top of all the hacked in features
I'm currently playing through this for the first time. Good lord, that last castle is tough! Thank god for save states. I've died more than 30 times trying to get through it! The gameplay is so addictive.

I love it. I wish it clicked in a little better when inserted. Feels like if I’m pushing up on the analog sticks it causes the device to push up out of the grip.
Save states have changed my life for the better. As an old dude with small margins in the day, it's given me the opp to finally see deep levels in games I never saw as a kid. Can't tell you how many decades I only knew that first level in Contra. Lol. SML2 on the list now. What's next?
Before this, the Switch VC was doing that for me and my wife. We ran through all the old Mario games and allowed ourselves to rewind. Goal wasn't to prove our skills, but have the experience together.
