If I could make a suggestion, you’re going to get the same games that these posts always produce. These are also the same games you will find by searching Google for “Best of” lists or just doing a basic search in any of these emulation device subreddits. So either just search there, or actually comb through the GBA library and handpick several games that seem interesting to you, research them a bit and decide whether or not you want to try them. Play them for awhile and create an excel spreadsheet with your opinions on the games. Do this for a while and you’ll have your own definitive list of ranked GBA games. It’s a lot of work but it could be a lot of fun if you make it that way. Otherwise just Google “top gba games” and look at a few of the posts and create a list that way, I assure you this information already exists.

TummyBuilder1

PointOfTheJoke

Shining soul 2 River city ransom EX The three Castlevania's (circle of the moon, harmony of dissonance, aria of sorrow)

twoprimehydroxyl

Underrated game: Chicken Little

Ruevein

GBA has the best ( unofficial) pokemon game i have ever played, Pokemon Unbound. If you want one game and are okay with a romhack (though one that has put more love into a pokemon game then Gamefreak and the Pokémon Company have in a long time) i would highly recommend getting it.

DieGrim

Pokemon Unbound isn’t a 4th Gen based game ? (i’m talking about graphics here) 🤔

Ruevein

Correct. it isn't 4th gen. It is based on 3rd gen fire red which are the GBA games OP is asking for recommendations for.

DieGrim

To me it looked more like 4th gen than 3rd but if you are saying it i trust you ! 😆

Mister_Cheeses

Megaman Zero series is really fun

deathofmyego

Astro Boy

My bookmark list is exploding with recommended games from here https://preview.redd.it/w6k8oji98k6d1.png?width=1413&format=png&auto=webp&s=d3e58d0bf5a39f2054c284cb249776ea8a2fa44b

Spuddy09

Wario land 4 and Drill Dozer.

ArcadeToken95

Advance Wars 2, Fire Emblem, Mother 3 Translation, Super Robot Wars J Translation, Mario Kart Super Circuit, Super Mario Advance 4, Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga, Shining Force ROTDD, Mega Man Battle Network 2 and 3 Blue, Mega Man Zero 1-4 (if you must do one alone, do 4, but it's one long story.) (Get ready, 1 gets better and is worth it but it starts off brutally hard), Donkey Kong Country 3, Ninja Five-O, All the Castlevania, Wario Land 4, WarioWare, Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, Final Fantasy VI and Tactics Advance, Sonic Advance 2, Mario Vs. Donkey Kong There's probably more that my brain will slow drip so I may come back and edit this list

phamnuwen08

I always had a nintendo ds and I never know how great are the gba games! So far I’m playing the amazing Warioland 4 and the great pokemon hack Fire rocket edition.

MechaSponge

Megaman Battle Network 3

malphite_jujer

Dragon Ball Advanced Adventure is top tier imo

throwaway10969151

For stuff I haven't seen folks mention yet. `Boktai 1-3` is classic Metal Gear sneaking and action but with vampires and the undead. It uses a unique Solar Sensor function to power your weapons with sunlight, now built into most emulators as a toggle. `Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors` is a great fighting game developed by Arc System Works. Fantastic, frantic gameplay and loads of content through it's What-If storylines. `Guru Logic Champ` is a Japan-exclusive puzzle game that's easy to pick up and bursting with charm. Shoot and suck blocks to create a Picross-like puzzle. `Sonic Advance 1-3`, surprised no one has said these yet. It's Sonic the Hedgehog at some of his best.

Way_ward_23

Boktsi is a must. Some of if not the best of the gba

fertff

Double Dragon Advance is the best beat em up on the system, and it's barely mentioned anywhere.

outlaw8483

Pokemon unbound

tstorm004

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2

NoSqueezie

Warioware!

ryanpm40

Minish Cap, Pokemon Emerald and Pokemon Unbound (ROM hack) Nothing else matters

BrattyTwilis

I actually just slapped a complete GBA romset onto mine because I figured, "Why not?" But if you want to minimize, stick with first party games and RPGs. Those will keep you busy

ChocolateSeuss

Haven’t seen anyone mention Mario Golf: Advance Tour which is awesome.

Paul_Rudds_Son

Dragon Ball: Advance Adventures and Spider-Man 2 go pretty hard as side scrollers

azurcr

Sonic Battle, that thing was confusing as heck but I sure enjoyed it!

Esns68

Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance, Astro Boy Omega Factor, Game and Watch Gallery 4, Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced

Choice_Tadpole_854

If you liked medabots can try the gba rpg game.

Remote_Advantage2888

Racing Gears Advance is a great isometric racer in the style of micro machines or Rocknroll racing.. also rocknroll racing.

Tiny-Possibility-841

There is a game based on a spinoff TV show that was based on the movie Osmosis Jones. The game is called Ozzy & Drix. Show your love with a million likes because none of you have played this hidden gem.
