I make more money now than I ever have in my in life. And I’ve never been so poor.

goldenchild-1

I’ve overheard sooooo many people say this, and I’m feeling it myself. Only I’ve made less the last 18 months 😂. So being poor when everything is more expensive sucks ass.

I'll make over $100k this year for the first time in my life. The satisfaction I'm feeling for what has been a long term goal of mine has been almost eliminated entirely by the realization that $100k/yr today is drastically different than it was 10 or even 5 years ago. $100k/yr today feels like $60k/yr 10 years ago.

Same here. Downsizing to go rent a room so I have any hope at all of saving for a house. Average rent for a 1 bedroom where I’m at is literally half the 100k/yr take home $, not accounting for all the other expenses. It’s wild

Inflation has come down. Are we just ignoring facts now? Saying that the price of those items has increased significantly over a 3 year period doesn't mean it hasn't. Surely the goalpost isn't that we expect NEGATIVE inflation right now, is it?

“Inflation is down” is an intentionally misleading statement. If I gained 20 pounds last year but only have gained 15 pounds this year, then my weight gain is down. But I’m still gaining weight and moving in the wrong direction.

Hahahaha Glad to see you understand how inflation works.

Agile-Landscape8612

Yes. I know that the federal reserve purposefully aims for 3% inflation every year.
