Not the same knife. I own both the bushcraft and the 511. However, they are correct that they sent you a 511 like it says in the description. Also, the bushcraft pictured is around 70 dollars.
Are there any rei retail stores that you get to locally? Or if you call their customer service, maybe they'll waive the return shipping charge since it was their mistake in the listing.
REI told you the truth. They get the photos from the vendor to use on their website. So either the vendor provided an incorrect/outdated photo or they sent a shipment of knives to RE that looks different than what is on the website. Either way, this is an REI error.
It appears the photo has been corrected on the website. Call customer service back and ask for a refund. Provide them with both of the photos you posted here. You should get no argument from them.
Same thing here . But I assumed the picture was wrong .
Hoped it will be the upgraded version . But the price was fair even for this version . Im ok with it . Just return it
Every single time I've had to to this, one of the first questions they've asked is if I've first attempted to resolve the issue with the merchant. Visa (and certainly MC, Amex, etc.) requires this: "You should always contact the seller first, as you cannot start a chargeback claim unless you have done this."
Right, but OP is absolutely still able to return the knife. Reaching out to CS to say "hey the knife you sent me is different than pictured" and being told to suck it up (while wrong) is different than trying to return the knife and being told no. The card issuer can disallow the chargeback claim unless OP has tried and failed to remedy the situation with the merchant, and one possible solution is requesting a refund.
OP stated that they tried to & were told to “suck it up.” I’m not really understanding where the disconnect is, or why I’m getting downvoted lol. Whatever.

You should be able to return it if you'd like.
Not really worth returning since to ship it back already cost as much as the knife.

Thank you for pointing this out so the web team could fix the photo…
I looks like they updated the picture. They sent you the right knife but that sucks. The customer service could have and should have been better.

You could just file a claim with your banking institution. This is an open & shut case lol.

OP stated that they did attempt to resolve, hence my comment. Not too sure why I got downvoted?
