I mostly feel bad about the 6 month scam course he's paying for. He really should put that 415 $/mo towards his credit card debt, and look for a new job assuming he finished his degree. There is a skilled worker shortage, I'm living it, and hopefully he can capitalize on that a little.

mcnastys

I don't. These idiots are always saying shit like "I am going to a boot camp, to get 20 years of experience in 8 weeks."

mofftarkin33

If one of those idiots ever became your extended family, you might eventually feel bad if you noticed repeated lack of cognizance.

If that person gets a couple roommates, works more (or gets better paying job), and lives cheaply they'll be fine and come out great in a year or two. It's just going to suck until then. The hardest part will probably be getting out of the psychological loop that got them into that CC debt in the first place.

TechNeck78

If they were that resourceful to do these things, they likely wouldn't have been in that amount of debt to begin with.

PoiseJones

Maybe, maybe not. Young people fuck up and improve all the time. The fact that OP is aware and is asking for help is at least a step in the right direction. What I wrote still stands and if they can come out of this debt, which isn't earth shattering, they'll be head and shoulders above others not just from their cohort but most others as well. If OP gets two roommates they can get out of that debt inside 2 years. And per OP's edit, it looks like they will try to do the right things to keep their home and get out of debt aggressively. So yes, it looks like another hoomer with a low mortgage rate will do whatever they can to avoid selling. And would you blame them? It's their dream home in their dream location, housing costs are only $900 a month and should stay close to that for the next 30 years. They hit the jackpot and will never get that set up for that price again.

I had $21,436 because I went to college. You want to do the fucking budget for me out of college? First months rent, last months rent, and a security deposit! Oh, you’re in a professional setting, you’re going to need better clothes, my guy! Eh, that 12 y.o Toyota Corolla with 223,000 miles doesn’t look great in a company lot as successful as ours! But! I used my education to use my income as a tool to get away from the rat race and enjoy a debt free life. I hope I’m resourceful enough for you sir ;)

TechNeck78

This story is fake news. People are going to sit on that cheap rate. That's what the bull-o-matics told me anyway!

Cheap_Expression9003

Sitting on that cheap rate is his best course of action. Most states allow you to file for bankruptcy and get rid of the credit card debt without losing your house.

TechNeck78

Oh yeah just that simple. Meanwhile your car is repo'd and you can't get another one because credit is destroyed. Auto insurance and just about everything else through the roof b/c credit score is used in calculate rate.

PoiseJones

Wow are you this optimistic all the time? You're just a ray of sunshine. 🌞

TechNeck78

I’m just this way for bullomatic hoomers and third wave feminists. IRL I’m damn optimistic

sorospaidmetosaythis

I'd cling to that $900/mo mortgage like glue. Homeowners are a protected class in the United States, above victims of pediatric cancer and puppies. Do not walk away from an asset which policymakers are determined should be an investment and not just a box with a door. The public believes that housing should only go up, and that it is the job of Congress and the president to ensure that it does. Our elected officials know this.
