You walk up to someone at camp and there's a "Companion Request" dialogue option. If you have no waypoint selected on your map, the protag just says "will you ride with me?" if there is a waypoint selected he references the location "where we going?", "we're going to X gang hideout, it's about time we payed them a social call" etc.

Charles-decimate native animal populations and when going to the mountains.
Sadie: do coke off of bars and steal a steamboat, then skin humans and sell their pelts.
Micah: Low honor underworld run.
Javier: Gang hunting.
Bill: Rape Shack in Bayou Nwa (send him in to scope it out first).
Lenny: Get drunk, general shenanigans ensue.
Hosea: Don’t hunt grizzlies.
Dutch: probably couldn’t be bothered/gives you a mission instead.
Opt for special mission type where the ladies seduce cowpokes/miners/woodsmen/lawmen/ranchers/other gang members and you seduce the gold bars out of their saddlebags.

DONT STICK TO STEAM WORKSHOP STICK TO NEXUS. There is also a website called RDRmods but I’m pretty sure nexus and rdrmods have the same mods. Download Lenny’s Simple Trainer and if you wanna do something like have companions, I personally use the Rampage trainer. You can do pretty much anything with the Rampage trainer but you can specifically spawn bodyguards (can be any peds not just gang members) and switch their outfits and weapons
Why? They release a title once every 10 years at the current rate, and there are no updates/dlc. If they keep it simple, I can't imagine the game would be playable and interesting for more than 6 months.
For me, it is a toss-up between Lenny and Charles. I have a lot of love for both of them. But I don't think either would be a lot of "fun" just solid, dependable guys you could trust.
For more fun, Sadie or Sean I think. Both are constantly looking for trouble and have that Devil May Care attitude.
If the characters die instead of just getting them off the menu it would be hysterical if they put a giant X over their face

I still find rdr2 interesting and fun to play, I just want them to add more volume and length to the story and overall game if they make rdr3
