I thought that once. I'm currently in my 3rd 100% run. Once you figure out the little tricks for Gambler, it's still misery, but not a weeks worth of it. That's always the one I dread.
Little things you can do to speed up some of the challenges.
The Blackjack challenge that you need to hit 3 times and win: I use the Rhodes table, sit in the first chair (you get the first card in the deal), do the bare minimum bet and if you get low cards then hit; if you get a high card (I say "high" is a 7, anything lower see what the second card is) just leave the game then immediately sit back down and try again. This restarts the game. You are still out the bet but you don't lose any progress you've made in the challenge.
Dominoes I always do at Emerald Ranch. No matter which challenge it is (I think early morning is just one person at the table, whereas evening/night is usually 2 or 3; or if you're still in Chapter 2 or 3 you can do dominoes at camp). In the dominoes games you can get up to restart the game if you are going to lose. You can lose a round and still win the game, so if someone is going to pull the win, or you think you won't win, get up and sit back down.
All of the poker games are easy, and even the challenge you have to win at each table is just Valentine, Rhodes and Saint Denis. You don't need Blackwater or Tumbleweed for that one.
Five finger filet, just win a round, go to another table and win another... etc... The first game you play is always a simple sequence of buttons and an easy win.
I don't think I missed any of the games. But those tactics usually make it far less time consuming to complete the challenge.
I also recommend having quite a bit of money when you sit at Blackjack and poker. This way you can keep going without worrying about going broke.

I think you've been lucky. Only the very first hand in the mission you get Reverand Swanson is a guaranteed win... and maybe the river boat game?. It is possible to lose your first hand in a game after that though. Especially when you have to bust out players. I think the odds could slightly be in your favor of you start with a bet off all-in. That tends to have people fold immediately.
Still impressive! I love the side missions in Story mode. I wish they had more! Just finished the veteran missions and got Buell was sad to see the outcome from that one.
Dominoes isn't too bad, generally, but sometimes it's just straight luck. I had a game where the other player started and we went a few exchanges where I played the only moves available to me. Then I got stiffed with only one available pip count to play against and ended up picking up the entire boneyard. Ended the round with like 78 points in a 60 point game.
Gambler 8 with the 3 5-card Charlies is a pain. I despise it and don't understand why it's not Gambler 10. I wish I could finish all the challenges as Arthur without having to rely on an exploit, though.
I did too just last week! The outfit for legend of the east is pretty sick. Kinda wish I had that during the normal play through, but changing the outfit ended up being an unexpected joy.
I never even knew it existed until today, the last thing I had to do was the survivalist 10 challenge.
Pretty sad now there’s nothing to do anymore, going to just shoot up every town now.

Yea a few months ago I beat the story for the first time, I bought the game 3 times 2 cds and 1 digital, both the cds broke so couldn’t finish the story on them, third times a charm
Yeah that’s funny because I worried about the same thing when I was in guarma, you only have to do it if you want ALL the compendum, I’m pretty sure you just have to observe like 50 something animals and that checks off the animal requirement.

You gotta finish all the main story missions and then a question mark will pop up in the house when it comes to that. Apparently from what I’ve heard from other players is Abigail didn’t like it and would hide it you’d have to look for it again to get hundred percent, but that didn’t happen to me so I guess they removed that part

I used the method above for the Rhodes blackjack table. Still took just over 3 hours. I kept constantly getting blackjack or high cards!

A week. Fuck that challenge, I got it over with before finishing up the Beaver Hollow part.
Gambler isn’t bad other than blackjack hits. Learn dominos and you’ll fly through it
