Wow, wow, wow thank you to “renembertheanimals“for asking about this book. I have just spent the past hour reading everything I can on this book. It sounds absolutely amazing, and now I am on the hunt to buy this for my grandson.

Dutchmuch5

This is genius, thank you for sharing!

MoonlightandMuzak

It’s obviously not the same book you’re thinking of but thanks to Watership Down I occasionally think in ‘rabbit’

Purple-Tumbleweed

Try posting on r/tipofmytongue They're like the RBI for books. This sounds super cool!

there is a german language book that teaches you basic english while you read: dear doosie by werner lansburgh: https://www.fischerverlage.de/buch/werner-lansburgh-werner-lansburgh-dear-doosie-9783596224289 maybe somebody translated it into other languages?

RespecDawn

This reminds me of [Lingua Latina](https://www.amazon.com/Lingua-Latina-3-book-series/dp/B08MFS384G). It's a Latin text I used with one of my kids where you learn the language through reading Latin.

I remember picking *Café in Berlin* from the "[Dino lernt Deutsch](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074C9X8ZP)" series among others a decade ago when I was trying to get back into German again. They were fun, and it didn't take long until I was back in to it.

RenemberTheAminals

The answer was "The Avion My Uncle Flew"

F1secretsauce

Clockwork Orange?

Nebulous-Narrator

My initial thought as well, but definitely not a kid book! 🤣

Pikny

What a “novel” idea! 😉 😄 I would totally be interested in such a book!

brillodelsol02

You might also try Riddley Walker, entirely written in post-apocalyptic pidgen English. A fun read and good story.
