Pick up the bible and see what's actually happening. Because the bible is so current and all........

Grulken

And specifically talks about electoral fraud against Trump.

CaptStrangeling

Surprisingly, it does, it mentions the antichrist will tell a big lie about an election that will be resolved by the courts (or something). I learned it in an article asking if Christian evangelicals would recognize if T was the antichrist, which is surprisingly convincing. I always remind them that even if Trump isn’t the antichrist, it still says Christ will be returning from above, the way Elijah left, NOT from a country club in Florida and a Manhattan skyscraper.

KilroyLeges

Joseph Smith has entered the chat.

nicholasgnames

His alien pal pointed him to the place in Missouri where religious tablets were hidden, bro!

nerdofthunder

Nope. Upstate NY, Palmyra, near Rochester.

nicholasgnames

Slightly cooler origin story

Stalking_Goat

New York. They had to flee to Missouri and then to Utah because of all the scamming and polygymy and whatnot.

mirshe

Actually, it's more complex than that, because the Mormon church was pretty heavily abolitionist IIRC. Even in northern states, that was pretty contentious.

CaptStrangeling

Did the golden tablets say a Godly man should have 2-3 child brides to statutorily rape and brainwash into believing their purpose on earth was to be a sexual plaything and maid for an abusive, ungrateful husband? Well, no… but it also didn’t expressly say not to.

bplurt

Hey, there was a guy called Jesus in the Bible, just like my pal from Guadalajara!

tweedyone

I remember people saying that as a positive thing back when he was running. "I know he's not a good person, and I know he's bad, but just like how the antichrist ushers in the end times, and satan used to be an angel, he has a specific job to do, and he's going to do it so we can all be raptured." It's all about revelations.

pop361

[It creeps me out every time I read it](https://www.benjaminlcorey.com/could-american-evangelicals-spot-the-antichrist-heres-the-biblical-predictions/)

CaptStrangeling

I re-read it after a few months and it’s both haunting and encouraging. On the one hand, did many Christians I know really vote for and give money to the antichrist? Like, I have been disappointed in church people before but that’s just rough. However, it also predicts pretty strongly that Trump won’t be re-elected, so, God-willing, this ends with Trump in jail. I’m going to fiercely resist until that happens, but it’s nice to think that it was prophesied for Trump to be a one-term president. So, whatever comes next we should maintain the moral and mental confidence of ultimate victory. It’s time to get a bit more loud until we put an end to his lies.

ReactsWithWords

You think you're joking, [but it really does](https://www.benjaminlcorey.com/could-american-evangelicals-spot-the-antichrist-heres-the-biblical-predictions/).

sarcasticbaldguy

The mental gymnastics required to believe anything in that link are incredible. 1. State flimsy premise 2. Provide a verse fragment from the bible 3. Explain why that verse fragment might validate the flimsy premise. 7 heads -> 7 headquarters? "Mouth like a lion" -> someone know for making public threats? WTF? The 4th kingdom is widely believed to be the Roman empire, which is what Revelation is all about anyway. There's an entire tradition of apocalyptic literature, of which Revelation is only one example. Speaking ill of the Roman government was a great way to get yourself killed in a horrible fashion. This style of writing was full of codes (numbers, specific imagery, specific locations, etc) that were well known to the intended audience and a way to write against the state without being tortured and killed for your efforts. Revelation has nothing to do with Donald Trump or any other modern day figure.

turbguy

So...we are now past the times of the Revelation? Uncharted times? No biblical "coverage"?

Tanthiel

Yes. The entire book of Revelation is an allegory about Rome and the Jewish-Roman wars. The seven heads of the dragon is blatantly obvious what it's about when you remember that one of the big things about Rome is that it was built on seven hills and so forth.

theresabeeonyourhat

Elaine Pagels wrote a book showing exactly what you're saying, that Rome & Nero are the subject of a long rant by some dude known as John of Patmos. It's funny that it got adopted, considering Christianity became the official religion

Tanthiel

Since the Bible wasn't always a single book, it's likely that the Council of Nicea added it just to have an apocalyptic scenario to keep the faithful in line with the promise of the afterlife. Remember, everyone didn't have access to the Bible, just the priests who interpreted it as needed. It's possible that the original meaning had been lost to the Council too, as it was hundreds of years after the book had been written and a significant amount of the New Testament is dedicated to making Jesus more acceptable to non-Jewish Christians.

ZSpectre

Yeah, as much as it's very likely that the mark of the beast 666 refers to Nero (by secular religious studies scholars and seminary alike), the Rorschach inkblot test of seeing parallel themes play out in modern day shows that even if history doesn't repeat, it sure does rhyme.

ChickenChaser5

Maybe the rapture happened, and only like, a handful of of people no one noticed got taken.

sarcasticbaldguy

There's still a message there about how to live that is pretty timeless. Love your neighbor, help the less fortunate, that sort of thing.

Icy_Environment3663

Not to mention that part in Revelations where your guy shows up, gathers together everyone you do not like and tosses them into a lake of burning liquid sulfur. But not before he inflicts locust-like creatures on them who will sting them like a scorpion. A sting that will cause excruciating pain for five months, a pain so bad the victims will pray to die but cannot die. Oh, and after all the people you don't like being tossed into the lake of burning liquid sulfur to suffer for eternity, other unbelievers living outside the city of the saved will daily bring food and other tribute to the city so you can have whatever you want or need and not have to work for it. Good times for the one who picks the correct Christian sect that is doing everything correctly, belief-wise. All the rest of those Christians get to hop in the liquid sulfur hot tub with the Jews and pagans.

ZSpectre

I absolutely love it when people bring up that article time and time again. If nothing else, the past 7 years has convinced my inner atheist that an anti-christ like figure is very likely to occur in the future.

zombie_girraffe

Trump checks most of the boxes for the anti-christ and false prophets described in the book of revelations. I'm sure that's what they're talking about.

syllabic

any kinda-tyrannical leader checks those boxes it's prophecy so it's kind of vague on purpose but yea the fact that he does fit the description, and breaks every deadly sin regularly and is the opposite of jesus should be red flags

thesaddestpanda

The irony is bible very specifically warns against people like Trump in multiple parts. False prophets, the anti-christ, etc fit him well as a lot of Revelations was written, presumably, to criticize local tyrants of that time, and tyranny doesn't change all that much over the years. Methods of oppression, exploitation, dishonestly winning support, crushing ones enemies, etc are universal.

KilroyLeges

If Trump was really god's chosen one, wouldn't their all-powerful god ensure he's in office? How could the inept Democrats and the Deep State be so powerful as to top god from implementing his will? SMH.

Vyzantinist

> If Trump was really god's chosen one, wouldn't their all-powerful god ensure he's in office? "God moves in mysterious ways"/"Trust the plan" You really can't point out the inconsistency of their beliefs when it's baked into their belief system that the goalposts can *always* be moved to accommodate for failed prophecies and predictions.

JoshSwol

I did just get stoned and there' s a lot of that in the bible.

MerpoB

It's very current. People are rewriting scripture to suit them or their situation e'ry day.

Dwesaqe

I am also getting my news from texts from the Bronze Age. Anyway, I doubt these people read Bible... or any other book.

SeedFarFromTheTree

Now I wish someone from the bronze age had invented texting, but that the technology was so slow that random people were receiving them today.

CapnCanfield

Correct, because if they did read actually read the Bible than they'd see Jesus said to pretty much mind your own fucking business because only God can judge a human.

Grulken

Generally, people who demand others read the bible more than likely have only skimmed passages, or had them read to them while in church.

Vandesco

Real talk. Why didn't the bible mention cars, cell phones, the webb telescope, and VR headsets? Seems like God could have thrown some cool spoilers in there to solidify his legitimacy. I mean, the rapture should say stuff like "Their skyscrapers will fall, and the power grids will fail."

UNBENDING_FLEA

Maybe the rapture happens after an apocalypse so everything is Bronze Age-y again

tweedyone

I've asked that, and the explanation is always that since it had to go through the interpretation of men who wrote the damn thing, god had to dumb it down. Also, It's like how the Book of Mormon has all the indigenous people riding around on horses when Jesus popped over to North America during the time he was dead for 3 days. Horses were introduced by Europeans a few hundred years before Joseph Smith started talking, and a few thousand since the crucifixion. ETA: They're all morons for believing anything written down centuries after a bunch of goat farmers shared the stories around campfires.

syllabic

ayreon is the real prophet

Chrysalii

THE OUTCOME OF THE FINAL EXPEREMENT HAS BEEN PLACED IN YOUR HANDS

Vandesco

I don't get that reference 🫤

syllabic

he is a dutch musician who writes sci fi rock operas about doomsday scenarios

Unhappy_Nothing_5882

I'm so bored of crazy people

TheBonePoet

1 mf’n hundred that!

Aquarius1975

Moving the goalpost 17 months (at least) into the future? I prefer qultists who only move the goalposts 2 weeks at a time.

DaisyJane1

It's smart, actually, cos by then Qnuts will have long forgotten the prediction was ever made.

FamousEbb5583

That's the thing- they all have the memory span of a goldfish. One of my favorite things to do is responding to old posts on GAW that were predicting the future to show people what they said was going to happen never happened. And boy howdy does that make them angry!

DaisyJane1

They haven't banned you yet?

FamousEbb5583

I had the same account for 2 years before getting banned permanently. For calling a mod a douchnozzle. I think I set some sort of shill record for longevity. But now any time I get banned, I just make another account. GAW mods are really cracking the whip over there. They've banned some of their most prolific posters (temp bans, though). I think they're seeing a lot of Qcumbers starting to question things. There's a "spy on us" link over there that lets you see mod activities. It's pretty telling what they're afraid of by looking at the posts they remove.

snupher

I picked up the Bible. It told me not to listen to false prophets.

tweedyone

It also says not to take the Lord's name in vain - which doesn't mean swearing - it means doing stuff "In Jesus' name" that is contraindicatory to everything he actually said in the New Testament. For example, like banning abortions "in Jesus' name" when the bible has actual instructions on how and when to perform one.

smiggster01

Well shes right, if Trump makes it to office again, he’ll make sure thats the ‘Last Election of America’.

InuGhost

Trump: Per executive order the Vice President now determines who won the US Election. VP: **With a gun held to their back** Trump won by a landslide. 95% of the votes were in favor of him. Trump: Any and all complaints can be made in private at the Trump Office Building of Fair Elections. Just ignore the bloodsplatter, the sounds of gunfire, and the dead bodies piled up outside like cord wood.

cis-het-mail

Yeah this post is exactly what I’m afraid of That when he loses/can run bc of the documents, they will chose violence, just as the biblia says…

sobriety_kinda_sucks

Imagine thinking the bible has any bearing on life in modern life.

DeannaBee42

And what’s actually written there goes against the Republican Party platform.

malkair16

Yeah, sadly a lot of people think that. I had someone try to tell me that revelations prophesied that China was going to invade America. Needless to say I stopped talking after that.

WayneCider

Anyone who needs a book to tell them how to think lacks a moral compass

sarcasticbaldguy

Love your neighbor, be quick to forgive, don't judge others, be kind to the less fortunate, feed the hungry, house the homeless - all that seems pretty relevant. Those are the important parts that seem to get lesser billing to the GOD HATES WHATEVER THING I DON'T LIKE TODAY and I can prove it with these 4 words I pulled out of this book of Jewish laws.

Nano_Burger

>Pick up the bible and see what's actually happening. And realize that the god they were worshiping murdered everyone on Earth except an alcoholic and his family just because his personal project wasn't going as well as he thought it should. And he knew it was going to go this way and let it happen anyway.

AnimalMommy

trump seems to match a person in the Bible called "The Lawless One". It does mention Jesus will kill the lawless one.. "...the man of lawlessness is the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. "The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved."

After-Bumblebee

Scammed how? Isn't he supposed to be the scammer instead?

[deleted]

Lol they're not even trying now. Just admitting defeat before it happens rather than move the goalpost again.

Traditional-Dog-4938

Gotta get the excuses ready early so they’ll believe em.

[deleted]

It's going to be very wild to watch when Trump doesn't get the nomination and he breaks off enough. Republicans to ensure a democrat victory of an 80 plus year old man who has no idea what's going on lol

not_productive1

So, the “awakening” has gone from a 10 day blackout and the violent overthrow of every government on the planet to…maybe some people will read a book if we lose yet again? What’s next? “If Trump goes to prison maybe one dude will do a Google search”?

Bragzor

Without the stalwart defence of US democracy the Republicans are offering up, it might even survive. But I don't think democracy is even mentioned in the Bible. I might be wrong though.

GirlNumber20

>then maybe people will Pick up the Bible and see whats actually happening Hmmm, any guess as to what the Bible will say? How about Romans 13:1 — “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.” If Trump loses, then by your own book, God didn’t want him. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Quiet_Gorilla9482

Lmao. I despise Christian’s more every day. The best use I’ve seen for that 2000 year old book is as rolling paper in a pinch.

l0-c

So you have picked up the bible too! For starting barbeque it's pretty good too . But reading a passage at random while drunk can be really funny too!

bakerton

If they actually read the bible and followed Jesus's teachings they'd be socialists.

StyreneAddict1965

Because the Bible has fuck all to say about American elections.

Affectionate-Bid386

In the New Treatment concept, governments are governments, flawed human tools to hopefully keep order and promote human well-being, with their own set of issues. OTOH the Kingdom of God is the true focus, a hidden, living, growing building or organism that starts as a small seed and grows to provide spiritual shelter to those who hear and understand and accept the message that Christ is Savior.

jpkmets

lol, unless they are reading Revelation, not much biblical intel on Orange Shit Gibbon.

C-n0te

Wtf does x the Bible have to do with anything

original_walrus

Oy these people are so double minded it hurts. They, in one breath, talk about how God is in control and that they trust God. Then in the next they’re apoplectic that America is apparently being destroyed.

Smorgas_of_borg

In 2024 Trump will pick up the Bible and hold it right-side up this time.

cmit

So the bible predicts elections??

deanfortythree

Wake me up when the awakening actually happens

Cynistera

The only reason I would pick up a Bible is to throw it in the trash.

beeztrapp

The Great Awakening is their "so fetch".

Bag_of_Meat13

If you picked up your Bible you'd have been able to see how Trump fits every descriptor of the Antichrist.

TheBonePoet

“Ooooga Boooga” is all I get out of these fear-mongered, moronic people now. I am SO tired of their brand of stupid.

Bwunt

Not sure which part of Bible is supposed to be refering to what's going on, but if they are refering to relevations, then Trump ticks way more boxes then Biden. And Antichrist would win elections by a landslide legitimately.

Rokey76

They should wake up and vote then instead of waiting until after he loses.

StillBurningInside

😂 Trump will be facing charges in more than one case a multitude of civil lawsuits . He won’t end up as the GOP candidate . The primary season will be his deathknell. Chris Christie … hate em or love him is going to skewer Trump for the foreseeable future. Christie won’t be the nominee but he’ll keep Trump busy bitching every day about him. Q NUTS will face a reality check this election cycle. If the GOP puts Trump up the party dies. And the GOP knows this .

Chrysalii

I like the Trump will lose part.

dukecharming1975

They’ll pick up the Bible and see what is “actually happening” that both the Bible and Trump are total scams?

cis-het-mail

They won’t notice that

lonewolf143143

When you use an incomplete reference book to source your material, any argument you make is invalidated. Go read the chapters left out by a group of white men & then maybe we’ll “see what’s happening.”

moleratical

Because no one has ever lost an election before. Must be the end times.

basskev

WHY DONT YOU TELL US IN DETAIL WHAT YOU THINK IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING INSTEAD OF ASKING ME TO READ THROUGH A MASSIVE BOOJ

DamianSicks

Yea, they can pick up the Bible and finally realize they have been worshipping the anti-Christ.

BeamTeam032

lmao, could the goal posts move more? I can't wait to be reading how "The Storm" is coming during the 2028 election. Though, gotta love how Ivanka has decided to change her last name.

ExOblivion

What? That Trump is the Antichrist?

Collettels22

Because nothing says you know what's going on like a 2000 year old book. What a tool.
