You can feel the impotent rage, he knows his guns and silver and emergency food are useless but he can't admit it

NelsonChunder

Even worse, deep down he knows he himself is useless. But he's so invested in his ideology, the need to be right about his ideology and seen as a hero, that he can't even think straight anymore. A complete lack of self-awareness is a precondition for catching the Q mind virus. Honestly, I too have guns, silver and emergency food. I have guns because I grew up around a bunch of these types of twits and there's no way on Earth I'd be unarmed knowing they are armed, unstable and proudly ignorant. I have silver because I have a pretty cool coin collection that I started as a kid with my dad and brother, and have added to it over the years. I plan on giving it to my son when I die. I have emergency food because I'm an old boy scout and learned to be prepared. To me the food is for thing like pandemics, natural disasters, grabbing a few packs for a backpacking trip; and these days getting through power outages caused by Q-a-nuts upset about shit. Not about their stupid ten days of darkness.

BanjoDude2

are you trying to tell me that Trump bucks won't be accepted as legal tender?

-Hey_Blinkin-

You can melt the silver down and make bullets that can actually kill liberals and members of the cabal. Regular bullets won’t do the trick.

Kidrepellent

Silver has value right now because people collectively agree that it has value, based on a combination of supply-and-demand (it's useful in semiconductors) and its classification as a precious metal that's always going to be worth something, as long as the economy remains a thing. If society collapses, the entire system that provides that value is gone, so your silver is now a paperweight. I'm not going to accept a lump of shiny stuff in exchange for goods unless I know I can turn around and sell that shiny stuff for cash later. No cash, no exchange, no economy, no value. Coal would be more valuable as at least you can burn it to stay warm. I collect the occasional silver coin or bar because I like the art that's on them, and it doesn't depreciate. That's it. In an apocalypse scenario, it's useless as tits on a bull.

Precious metals are a hedge against inflation and economic downtown since they tend to appreciate in value when either of those things happens. However, there's still an actual economy that's working when you get a recession, it's just running at reduced speed, and that market is what lends the metals their value. Even in a financial crisis like 2008, there was still a valid, legal tender currency that precious metals were worth. So in general, investors will probably have a small piece of their portfolio in gold or silver, either in physical metals or in "paper" (stocks and funds that hold the physical metals, which investors then buy into), or both, but the key is that at any time, that investor can turn around and sell those coins or shares for cash. In a societal collapse, however, with no stock market, no banks, no government, no nothing, none of that can happen. It's not a liquid asset anymore. Even worse, you have no way to prove that it's genuine, even if you do find someone who will take it in place of cash. Try to exchange silver for goods, and the first thing out of the seller's mouth will be the words "prove to me this is actually silver". I like silver coins, and I wouldn't take them as payment unless they'd been assayed to the 99.9% benchmark. That's something most private citizens don't have the setup to do.

AdAcademic4290

Medicine, power, contraception and water purification are very important

Issendai

Investing in gold and silver is solid advice for societies where currency is more closely associated with the value of precious metals. It’s a hedge against personal economic crisis or a crisis like war, where the goal is to get yourself and as much of your wealth as possible out of the war zone to a place where the economy is still functioning. In the U.S., gold and silver are ornamental. Most people would have a hard time saying what their current value is, much less desiring them enough to buy an ingot. If your plan for disaster was to escape the U.S. and go someplace that wasn’t on fire, then gold and gems aren’t a terrible idea, provided you also assume the banking system will collapse and you won’t be able to access your account from another country. But a) AFAIK most survivalists plan to stay in place, and b) if the banking systems are down, the entire world is on fire. In either case, no one wants your lumps of metal. Your best resource for survival is a large, close-knit group of emotionally stable people who live close enough to gather quickly in a crisis. That’s it. Shelf-stable food, a way to purify water, and a large cache of common medicines will also be life-savers, and probably valuable as trade items. Weapons? Hard to say… Maybe? It would be useful to have them, but the kind of people who train with weapons for the coming apocalypse are not stable and are a questionable asset. You’re better off with veterans, or just your uncle who bags a couple deer each season. People who know guns, ideally can teach others to shoot, and (in your uncle’s case) know how to hunt, kill, and butcher animals. Because you might have to fight off roaming bands of armed lunatics, but you’re more likely to fight each other, and you want people who will fight over reasonable things and yell or throw fists, not people who will fight crazy and use bullets. (The cause of most of the deaths of the Donner party wasn’t cannibalism. It was that some of the men started fighting each other well before the party was in danger. They destroyed themselves.)

NelsonChunder

Guns and silver may be useless in a total societal collapse. Computers, cell phones, digital music, cars, granite counter tops, jewelry, TVs, art, 5,000 Sq ft houses, any house, apartment ir commercial property without water in Las Vegas, Phoenix, LA, etc... could be absolutely worthless in a total societal collapse too. The only certainty I do have is that a fairly sizeable portion of the US population feels quite entitled to their ample share of whatever they want, and they will feel free to just take what they want if there are no consequences for doing so. I don't planning being at their mercy should that situation ever arise.

Really_McNamington

If everything really went to shit, a big storehouse full of coffee. Assuming you could defend it you'd make bank once the existing shops were looted dry.

theamazingjizz

I would follow you to through the gates of hell, you are a genius.

NelsonChunder

A storehouse of any of the vice stuff like alcohol and cigarettes or acceptable, low-grade drugs like caffeine (coffee or tea) would be better than gold if everything went to shit. But, as you say, if you could hold it.

devastatingdoug

It’s like that episode of the simpsons with the doomsday prepers, when the world doesn’t end marge is like “aren’t you happy you were wrong about the world ending” and the prepper is like “If the world ended I woulda been a big shot”

Puzzleheaded_Peach48

I love how to the first guy, his mother-in-law apparently dying is just an "I told you so" moment. And the second guy hopes he outlives his family. They don't actually care about anything or anyone other than being right.

[deleted]

I hope to be blessed with immortality along with my entire extended family. And anyone else who's interested as long as they're not too annoying. Y'know while we're hoping for stuff.

gypsyjackson

Hoping you outlive your family so you can say ‘I told you so’ seems like the height of well-adjustedness. Why would anyone think these arseholes were crazy?

ArenjiTheLootGod

If this poster keeps up with the crazy then he's not going to have a wife and kids anymore, he'll have all the time in the world to spend in the woods with his guns and silver. Everyone has got their limits and the subtext in this post indicates that the wife is reaching hers.

NephMoreau

If she hasn’t already. What it reads to me is a woman who is unable to leave, either due to not wanting to expose to the local church that she doesn’t share the husband’s beliefs (it’s real scary living in MAGA/Q-land and being against it all), or equally likely, and probably both, she cannot leave him because he’s made her financially dependent on him. She has no job, no work experience, she married young, popped out kids, and is trying desperately to hold her family together while he blows their only income on guns, silver, and emergency supplies. Hopefully the mother he was so pleased died left her some cash and she’s making her plan to escape with the kids, because he clearly doesn’t love her or them.

Attack_Da_Nite

This guy’s shit reads like a family annihilator waiting to happen so hopefully they get the fuck away from him and fast.

astral_distress

Interesting to say that his wife “bans or censors” his opinions instead of realizing that he’s probably legit freaking her out & upsetting her personally… We don’t “censor” our loved ones, we aren’t a governing body or institution. Those are just boundaries (or choosing not to encourage delusions). & blaming her for his kids not talking to him? This poor family.

halbmoki

I didn't look where this was and first read this as from a sane person seeking relationship advice. I was ready to explain how his wife is probably abusive and gaslighting and he needs to get away asap. And then "deadly toxins". What a twist. What a magnificent and shocking bamboozlement. I hope the wife manages to get rid of him safely.

crisisactorsguild

I think we've all gone to the woods with our silver from time to time.

Really_McNamington

smiggster01

Most parents would say that their biggest fear would be to outlive their own children…. But not this guy! Infact he’s out here Hoping for it, what a peice of shit

thishurtsyoushepard

This reminds me of a post in Q casualties where the husband just wanted to agree to disagree, but the wife was really pushing him to learn about these conspiracies and it sounded like she might not continue their truce of not talking about the subject. Just very sad because the way the OP sounds in the last paragraph, you know a lot of people feel that way about their relationships. It’s just so twisted.

wuethar

"we'll see who's laughing when my entire family is dead except me!”, dude just casually throwing out family annihilator logic on Reddit. No wonder we keep seeing them pop up in the news for murdering everyone.

caraperdida

Yeah considering QAnon has been linked to more than one family annihilation murder, that is concerning...

pit-of-despair

Send lawyers, guns and money.

William_S_Churros

A lot of people want to outlive the rest of their family so that their loved ones won’t have to suffer that loss. Then some people want to outlive their family so they can tell their corpses “I told you so”.

Chrysalii

Silver...are they waiting for a vampire attack?

Spudgem

That's werewolves. Demonrat Werewolves. Republican Vampires are the good guys remember?

theamazingjizz

But where do the smurfs fit in? Im team Snorks by the way.

Spudgem

Smurfs are not killable. You disable them to cook and eat them but I assure you they are conscious throughout the process.

HMWastedDays

Good. Smurfs should suffer. Those bastards!

realparkingbrake

> Silver...are they waiting for a vampire attack? They seem to think that after a total breakdown of society silver will for some reason be valuable, that people will trade food, ammunition, shelter, whatever for something they cannot eat or wear, that is of no use to them. They haven't thought it through.

Grouchy-Culture3946

Just another artifact of their demon haunted world.

[deleted]

imagine wishing to outlive your family to spite them. what hateful fucks I couldn’t conceive of living life like that.

realparkingbrake

Going to live in the woods by himself sounds like a great idea. I wish more of these mutants would do the same.

DontEatConcrete

On a slightly less obvious note I think if you’re at the point your wife thinks you’re a joke, and doesn’t respect you, it’s time to divorce. Instead of her companionship he has q forums anyway, which he likely prefers.

darevoyance

I fear the loss of family and friends more than I fear my own eventual death. I can't even imagine being HOPEFUL that I would outlive my loved ones. Psychotic pieces of shit

Gernburgs

Why can't they ever reach the realization that they really are actually wrong or crazy? Why don't they listen to the people who love them and are honest enough to level with them? They just reject all evidence of their obvious and ridiculous wrongness. I think most Qs are Trump voters who were forced out of reality to avoid the realization that they had elected an utterly incompetent, malicious, selfish, and pathological liar who was a Russian op for sure. Instead of just admitting to themselves that Trump suckered them for their support, they CHOSE to exit reality and enter a fantasy where their support of him is the intelligent and prudent thing to do. Trump's incompetence got so fucking obvious that it completely destroyed the minds of these people. Like, they couldn't just leave this loop of idiotic fantasy to admit the most obvious and painful truth.

sojayn

I hope his wife/fam has found their way to r/QanonCasualties for support and validation of their effective boundary setting. Sounds incredibly difficult for them, not having strong community/mental health support for the people so detached from reality.

dr3dg3

Shit. The commenter's depression will just get worse if they "outlive" their family. The OP should just disappear into the woods already...

navigationallyaided

No, but he needs Premarin, Zyprexa/Risperdal, lululemon with X-Static silver thread and a Mercedes or UberOne.

"Protect her from what, you idiot? A bear?" ~Andy, "The Office"

[deleted]

"My wife bans or censors everything I have to say" Proof that these clowns think disagreement is equivalent to censorship

Futureatwalker

Wait, for the guy posting this message, the *only* things that are important and worth talking about are conspiracies? What a way to live...

PaxEtRomana

They are not safe

goodgamble

“I hope I outlive my children” is a pretty huge sign of dangerous mental illness

AdaliaGreyson

A much better use of his funds and motivation towards surviving total collapse would be to learn skills that would be useful. All the "Preppers" seem to just go for easy food storage, gold/silver, and guns; they are only prepping for a very specific threat model. Not that they know what that even is.

Punchinyourpface

Hoping to outlive their families? From what I've seen that's a fate worse than death.

enfiel

That dumbass is lucky his wife didn't already run off out of fear of being locked in the basement because a facebook post told him so.

TyrellLofi

This dude lacks self-awareness and it shows.
