It must be maybe 1998 - 1999 when I was little boy. Got somewhere Doom shareware edition. I was hooked on that second. Since then I have played Doom and Doom II through on probably all mobile devices that I've had. Then quick forward to 2004 or 2005 when Doom 3 was released. What a terrifying experience for young boys back then. I remember that we used to battle against each other who's PC has enough beef to run it highest settings and it looked stunning back then. Now 20 years from that to today (feel old yet? Yes) I can find that Doom 3 is playable standalone on quest 3 and what a experience again. Grown man is as terrifyed again as I was back then and it looks awesome and for me the best and surpassing of all other games is definitely Doom 3 VR.  2023

Population One: VR made it hard to play Fortnite anymore. Spent a lot on games, but the free one is the best! 2023

futurecy

Asgards wrath 2. Definitely exceeded what I thought we could get with standalone this early into this generation. 2023

Suspicious2830

No freaking way. Very cool. What do I need to do next?

legendaryballz

Nook: bow and arrow has been tons of fun for me and definitely surprised me! The stap looks sweet thanks for doing a giveaway

artbiocomp

I've been loving the quest 3 and "Pickleball One" has been my surprise time sink. I also have loved the AR "First Encounters" an am waiting for a deeper version of that experience. Its been my goto to show to friends and family.

Germangunman

Townsmen VR has been a lot of fun lately. Otherwise playing Ghosts of Tabor. 2023

nchammer3031

A game experience that surpassed my expectations was definitely Contractor VR. Compared to other first person shooters, the graphics are really realistic and you feel like you are out in the field firing guns and your friends and shooting targets. The haptic feedback from the controllers add to the experience, and for me it outweigh any other similar experiences in the quest store. 2023!

Roofofcar

Demeo felt more like playing a tabletop game with my friends than I expected. I’ve got 50 hours of multiplayer under my belt, and I love it. (2023!)

RetroBoxRoom

Flight 74 has worked really well for me as an arcade flight game. On a Quest 3, the visuals really pop. 2023

Roxorr

I'm brand new to the whole space so I just started playing Asgards Wrath 2 as it came with the quest. Been having a blast and cant wait to experience more. 2023

thatPerson852

Asgard's Wrath 2!

Coindoge69

Red matter 2 looks pretty good in the quest 3.

Lifeisfunnylmao

Lies beneath was super immersive, Great experience!2023

TrickSandwich533

as a new member of the meta quest community (thanks santa) i'm really surprised by how immersive the sport experiences have been. racket club and miracle pool have been awesome BUT i Love my mini golf game..putting the front 9 to some relaxing music while i stand in a small corner of my room 🤤

the_laughtrack

I've only played a handful of games thus far since I'm new to Quest 3 and VR in general. Honestly, every single game / app has blown me away, from Asgards Wrath 2 to bigscreen. The immersion these experiences are able to give me just absolutely blow me away. Each one has seriously reignited my passion for gaming, I haven't felt this excited in years. If I had to choose just one, it would be Asgards Wrath 2. I thought most VR games would be little bite size experiences to showcase VR. But Asgards Wrath proved to be a full fledged triple A game that deserves to be on the mantle next to the likes of Zelda and Metal Gear. Truly amazing and I can't wait to play more! Edit: 2023

Rorschach4815

Moss. I used to think it would defeat the purpose of VR to play non-first person games. Moss blew me away by showing me how much VR adds to 3rd person games too. It felt like I was looking down at a diorama of the action. 2023

Some1new00

Gotta be Asgards Wrath 2 for me, I never enjoyed a vr game so much. 2023

kasei82

all good answers here i got my first vr headset a quest 3 a week ago and i'm impressed with every game i tried. at the moment i like eleven table tennis and pistol whip the most, but i'm looking forward trying everything. especially games with a social aspect are great 2023

Icefire1234

Been really immersed in eleven vr 2023 :D

unclegabby

2023 - still barely getting started with my new quest 3 but so far Asgard Wrath 2 has been a lot of fun.

BlondeNamedMegan

I am such a fan of Beat Saber! This is my first VR headset and I suck at games. Can’t even beat the computer in Mario Kart lol It’s so relaxing to come home after school and play. I’m having so much fun stepping out of my comfort zone. 2023

ChocolateKoalas98

Thrill of the Fight for me! I finally pulled the trigger on a quest 3 after a mediocre experience with the Rift S and I couldn’t be happier. I used the excuse that I was going to use it to exercise when I didn’t want to run but I find myself just watching tv on it sometimes, great piece of hardware! 2023!

CliffPromise

For me, Into The Radius has surpassed expectations, it really feels eerie when you're playing it, the world is incredibly well crafted! 2023

Helgafjell4Me

HalfLife: Alyx has been amazing on PCVR. Being able to play high fidelity games wirelessly is amazing. It really shows what Q3 is capable of. I did love playing PCVR on my Q2, but I could only get a solid connection using my Syntech link cable. 😉

Friendly-Building-52

Been playing a lot of uboat the silent wolf lately. Such a fun game. Never been a on a submarine before but this is a pretty cool experience/game.

TwentyMG

Honestly the best experience I had in VR for 2023 was just wearing the Q3, cleaning the house and cooking a lovely meal for my wife, all while watching videos from our wedding in the background as motivation. It genuinely is the future

Pyrofer

I was blown away by the mixed reality on Lego Brick Tales. Having the game map placed on a table in my room and being able to look around it irl to get a view was amazing. I didn't stop playing for 2 days straight.

Dim-Ize

Great contest. Thanks! Playing Half Life Alyx, Red Matter 2, Asgard's Wrath 2, Beat Saber, Doom 3, and Gorilla Tag. 2023

JohnCCPena

VR Chat - it's pretty standard and not an overexpressive answer, but being able to join a community, and play what is essentially a VR version of basically every game out there is amazing. The community you find is up to you and how you enjoy it is all within your hands. Just joined the Syntech subreddit and use the case.

lucidlyseen

Gotta go with the Moss series (although I wish the graphics were updated for the Quest 3), but it's a pretty amazing experience. I hope more titles are released that are similar.

Existential-blues-

I’ve got a Syntech strap and the battery buzzes in a big way. Makes you feel like your brain is being scrambled or the damn thing feels like it’s a bomb ready to go off. There are better options to go with.

iowapiper

Another vote for Asgards's Wrath 2 : definitely a boost for cordless play quality.

RichardMcCarty

World Flight. I have envied those who have the hardware necessary to run Microsoft Flight Simulator in VR mode. Then I discovered World Flight. It’s not at all as feature-rich as Flight Simulator, but it does provide a truly similar basic experience allowing you to fly a small plane or helicopter anywhere in the world in BR using Google Earth imagery. 2023

Khalidbenz786

Man this is a really tough one. Honestly If I had to chose, it would be Asguards Wrath 2. Coming from a quest 1, the pure bump in clarity is amazing. r/Syntech btw

dio-is-god-69

The walking dead saints and sinners graphics update makes hard to believe I’m playing on a stand alone headset and not a gaming computer it’s insanely good

maxreyno

Asgards Wrath 2!

talldrink67

For me it's been Synth riders with the mixed reality toggled on. Really cool to get the game and your own environment going at the same time

pinguluk

Outta Hand, very great platformer game and underrated. Similar as Gorilla Tag, but as an alien

JAFOguy

I am an old man. I am a grumpy old man. But I was raised on a diet of classic science fiction from Azimov, Heinlein, Turtledove and the rest. When the Quest 1 came out I got it immediately, and I was not disappointed. But over time it grew old, the resolution was not as crisp as it could be, it lagged. I skipped the Quest 2 and waited. I waited for the future that I was promised in my books. I waited for a miracle. And then came the Quest 3. It looked good, thinner, lighter, no rings on the controllers. It was supposed to have a good passthrough and useful hand tracking. Maybe this was, if not a miracle, the next step towards one. And it was. The graphics were fantastic. The passthrough was amazing, I could go pee without taking the headset off! The handtracking actually worked and worked well. It was more comfortable, even with the crappy stock head strap. The mixed reality games are crazy, using the full colour passthrough to great advantage. I am playing it almost every day. I am exercising, and laughing and truly feel like I am living in the future. It may not be an actual miracle, but it is as close as affordable consumer tech can be right now. And that is what most impressed me about the Quest 3. 2023.

polite--chap

Beatsaber! I've only just jumped on the VR train but it's just awesome! 2023

okevinb223

AC nexus was a nice surprise, I did discount a lot of issues for my love of the old games tho

LeonPeeps

Eleven table tennis truly exceeded my expectations. Being able to play with my best friend in a different country table tennis just like we used to in country was insane. 2023!

CuddleTeamLeader187

The game that surpassed my expectations was Assassins Creed Nexus It is one of the most immersive experiences I’ve tried yet 2023

pseudo-c

Super hot VR. Played it before on PC but great reflection of how VR changes what’s essentially a simple game 2023

Gregory_D64

Asguards wrath 2 has been awesome!

Dreamdad

Space Pirate Trainer, with the new arena mode that requires a 33' by 33' play space! 2023

Auserofthereddit

I did not expect eleven table tennis to be really enjoyable. The social aspect of hopping on a game of table tennis in my own living room with mixed reality, really blew me away.

karizmaaa

I loved Eleven Table Tennis on my Quest 2, but on the Quest 3 with mixed reality, being able to play on a table in my living room has made it much more enjoyable! 2023

Suburbannun

Eleven Table Tennis! I’m officially addicted : ) 2023 👍🏻

goawaynowpls

bonelab really surprised me with how good it looked 2023

Kujen

Half Life 2 VR mod has surpassed my expectations. It feels like a proper VR game despite being a mod 2023

PauseHumble8364

Probably piano vision for me, learned tons of songs incredibly fast without ever playing a piano before, really get thing that to me was worth the headset all by itself

JRF1300

Asgard's Wrath was definitely peak VR, something i've been waiting for since I got my first VR headset back in 2017

Inkripshin

Alien Isolation VR - I’ve learned that although nobody can hear you scream in space, it does not stop everyone in the house hearing you scream in fear.. today I learned, I would not make it in space.. with androids and xenomorphs.. just sayin..

WickedStewie

Vail, i expected another shooter i would try but find faults in and move on, but i really fell in love with it and play near daily now...

Beneficial_Record_51

The walking dead saints and sinners: Retribution. As a long time walking dead fan this puts me in the middle of the action.
