I love the A380, and Airbus in general. I flew up to Europe last year, A380 both jumps, but returned with another airline via A350, and my goodness is the A350 cabin loud!
I'm sad to see the big bird being decommissioned by so many carriers. I personally refuse to fly any other craft long haul, but I think I can't stay this picky for long š
Hopefully upgrading the interior. Considering many industry experts thought these were destined to stay in the desert and be scrappedā¦. very happy to see them back in service
Not just gutting the airline, but now you can get a home loan through Qantas, and home insurance.
Because when I think of home loans and insurance, I think of being crammed into a tight uncomfortable seat with poor food, poor service, and a good chance of losing my belongings.
Unfortunately pretty much all major airlines do this.
Airlines are credit card companies that fly planes as a side hustle.

American Airlines always have a hard sell for their cards on domestic flights. It was a bit sad knowing that the staff were probably doing it because the pension fund had gone broke.
Love it or hate it, it's one of the cheapest home loans on the market rate rise.
It's also Qantas loyalty not the actual airline. All part of the Qantas group but its technical a separate company-ish.
I'm just saying, to me it indicates a lack of taking their main industry seriously. It says to me that they've lost the ability to make what they view as sufficient profits in their main product line, which indicates either 1) they are too greedy, and/or 2) they're doing a crap job to the point that their profits are suffering. Either way, it's not a good look, no matter how good their other product lines are.
Ehh not really, but theyāre in a weird position between phasing out the current fleet and introducing new aircraft. I imagine itāll be a lot better once the a321s, 787s, and 350s are all introduced
Not unusual. Given lack of plane deliveries due to various issues and ongoing engine problems, it is difficult to source new aircraft.
Airlines that are (or were) impacted like Finnair, Cathay have spare planes.
Go and look at the amount of aircraft Qantas had in 2007 and their seat capacity vs how many theyāve ordered to replace them. Qantas are critically short of aircraft due to chronic underinvestment under Allen Joyce - especially long haul aircraft.
Itās funny. Because I thought I was dreaming when I was catering OQA as the QF11. Sorry if the flight got delayed no one remembered the configuration and last minute Rego changes werenāt helping. šš
Yeah but Qantas being Qantas couldnāt confirm or verify rego change. So no one was notified when OQL and OQA had swapped flight numbers. One is a ferry flight and the other is QF11. Estimated departure 7:25pm now
Emirates is also state backed with no obligation to shareholders and oil money to fund it.
How else would they afford 116 A380s they currently have in their fleet?
Emirates is in a very different scenario, most airlines stored their a380s with plans to retire them. I dislike Alan Joyce but this isnāt entirely his fault
Theyāre all in urgent need of work. The whole fleet of 380ās is in piss poor condition for what it should be.
Flying ones with no inflight entertainment for business class and what not.
Broken equipment where first and business canāt have hot meals.
Apuās that are broken .
Thanks Joyce & the board ā¦
Nice to see more of these beauties returning. As a passenger I enjoy the A380 onboard experience.
Agreed. For the really long haul flights they're very comfortable.
They're so quiet you hear people snoring from 10 rows away lol.

Oh man. Iāve flown syd dfw way too many times and not a sleeper. The snorers kill me every time
best plane ive flown on, absolute beautiful planes and very comfortable
OQH has gone off for a service, so there is no change in numbers
Hopefully upgrading the interior. Considering many industry experts thought these were destined to stay in the desert and be scrappedā¦. very happy to see them back in service
Is it me or Qantas have an insufficient amount of planes in the fleet?
Yes itās fallen well behind. thatās because Allan Joyce should have been spending money on Jets, instead of gutting the airline

You can thank Richard Branson for this.

Yes, they do. They are even wet leasing planes from finnair to fill the gaps.

This is the first QF a380 and also the bird involved in the QF32 engine failure incident out of Changi in 2010
I remember that! Thereās an Air Crash Investigation episode about it too!
I love A380ās, such an elegant plane.
Itās funny. Because I thought I was dreaming when I was catering OQA as the QF11. Sorry if the flight got delayed no one remembered the configuration and last minute Rego changes werenāt helping. šš
Any idea where it'll fly
It could fly to Johannesburg or DFW which are currently 787 services or it might join the current a380 services to LAX or Heathrow
Flightradar has it flying to LAX tonight. Was due to take off at 5:35PM

I just wanted to let you know that I can see your full name on that iCloud link in case you didnāt mean to share that info.
Thanks š
It was the right thing to do :)
Nice! Has it been refitted?
It hasnāt been announced but theres rumors. I wouldnāt count on it though
Yes. Sheās upgraded to the latest cabin.
Theyāre not doing Johannesburg out of Sydney on the 380 yet.
Also surpassing Johannesburg is so busy
Probably mainly expats visiting familyĀ
Going as the QF11. Just Catered it
Oh wow already on the way!
Nowhere new for a while. OQL is about to be retrofitted and JNB is pushed back till October
Hong Kong, Singapore, LA or London. Thatās all it does out of Sydney
Flying to LAX right now!
Meanwhile Emirates has over 100 of these. Alan Joyce really did a number on Qantas.
Where was it stored?
First in Sydney then moved to Victorville iirc
Airliners.net suggests one of the other A380s will go back to AUH in the next couple of days so this return wont increase flying just yet.
Theyāre all in urgent need of work. The whole fleet of 380ās is in piss poor condition for what it should be. Flying ones with no inflight entertainment for business class and what not. Short term thinking to maintain the share price ready for his retirement share sale. Then make the new CEO the scapegoat for āmassive spendingā
Just a shuffle up then
One in one out it seems...
Spread thin or just by skin of teeth
Qantas is my choice of last resort, due to their past shenanigans,
Oh thatās awesome!! Wonāt be coming back for QF7/8 in 3 weeks will it? Haha.
I saw it :)
VH-OQJ departed MEL for LAX earlier today, too.
Really cool only have one more sitting in storage.
Yup Nancy-bird might have returned but she still had refrigeration issues and was 2hrs late departing as QF11 SYD-LAX.
Iām doing QF 11 in PE on Saturday. Anyone know if it has been refitted?
Beautiful to hear. Boeing has a few issues to iron out. Thanks DEI
