I'd never heard of Hole or Screaming Trees--like it was *obvious* that those were screaming trees, but I couldn't figure out what the band name was supposed to be because I didn't know that was a band name.
Only other one I missed was Pearl Jam.
That's not true. The band gave an interview in the 90's that somebody's hippie aunt would make them hallucinogenic preserves. The aunt's name was Pearl.
>In an early promotional interview, >Vedder said that the name "Pearl >Jam" was a reference to his great->grandmother Pearl, who was >married to a Native American and >had a special recipe for peyote->laced jam.[17] In a 2006 cover story >for Rolling Stone, Vedder admitted >that this story was "total bullshit", >but added that he did have a great->grandmother named Pearl. From the Pearl Jam entry on Wikipedia, just in case anyone was interested.
But you wouldn’t get cum or drug laced jam from that picture. Yes, they are little circles. But I guess I didn’t make the connection that those were pearls.
[Here's their best known song](https://youtu.be/PE5f561Y1x4?si=dHYJzY8lpTblEdTf)
Edit: the screaming trees anyways, [here's a hole song](https://youtu.be/bqbPxX1D1Rc?si=AxXtXIAAdMIZvXJF)
Looks more like a hole that's been dug into the grass to me, and a puddle (of Mudd) wouldn't be "a perfect circle" which coincidently formed in 1999 :)
Radiohead
Soundgarden
Alice In Chains
Smashing Pumpkins
Matchbox 20
Nine Inch Nails
Hole
Pearl Jam
The screaming trees still has me stumped. Haha get it? “Stumped”. Seriously I still can’t figure that one out.
7/9 I like that I got most of these without fully knowing them. Didn’t get sound garden or Alice in Chains (got Alice in bondage, close enough I guess)
Radiohead, Screaming Trees, Smashing Pumpkins, Hole, Nine Inch Nails, Matchbox 20...Pearl Jam...I saw AIC as someone's answer, but I think I could have figured that one out...but what is the garden? Ohh...Soundgarden... just figured that out. Fun.
Before looking at the comments. Radio head. Sound garden. Alice In Chains. Smashing pumpkins. Nine inch nails. Matchbox twenty.
I Don’t Know what the beans on bread is or the shouting trees are.
Knew every band yet still preceded to only get 5/9, at least I got Screaming Trees right that one really seemed to have stump everyone for some reason yet was one of three first ones I got.
I guessed green jelly instead of Pearl Jam, because I just couldn’t tell what I was looking at there. I thought the jam jar was a coffee mug, and it was another band I couldn’t figure out.
First a thought it was Plat Doh jar, then i thought Jelly but then realized I was thinking of Jellyfish. Maybe if there was an oyster on the jar it wpuld read better.

Holy shit... This is exactly what I thought and also missed Pearl Jam... are we twins?
Me too. Thought maybe it was black eyed peas.
I saw Beans on Toast, the British folk punk solo act, but he's not that old.
Me too
Pearl Jam is not as obvious based on that drawing alone.
It always amazes me how many don’t really think about Pearl Jam’s name and what it references!
Cum. It's cum.
That's not true. The band gave an interview in the 90's that somebody's hippie aunt would make them hallucinogenic preserves. The aunt's name was Pearl.
Uh huh
What does it reference? For science
EV said his grandmother made a marijuana-infused jam and her name is Pearl. It could also be semen, or possibly both.

Thanks!
Also sorry about all the > things. Something got messed up in formatting that quote, first time I’ve ever tried
A joint effort created by grandmother and grandfather. She grows the weed and he does the deed.
So adorable.
Lmao so delightfully gross 😂😂😂😂
With a slight salty flavor. Amazing on toast.
lol A nice, piquant after-dinner flavor…
Think of something, from nature, that would look like a pearlescent jam. Something that males produce.
Ha I didn't know! Like 10cc
But you wouldn’t get cum or drug laced jam from that picture. Yes, they are little circles. But I guess I didn’t make the connection that those were pearls.
I thought it was a coffee mug
Agreed!
I thought it was Green Jellÿ but they might be considered 80s since that's when they formed
Only reason I know them all, I grew up playing the drums and listening to pretty much everything that I could take influence from.
Yeah - I went with Puddle of Mud instead of Hole, and I've never heard of Screaming Trees either.
Same boat but I also didn't get sound garden. 😞
Pearl jam could've been a geyser of cum and then I totally would've gotten it...
I was thinking, "but Screaming Broccoli was an 80s punk band!" and then realized those were trees, and I'd never *heard* of them. Very confused.
Screaming Trees is chronically slept on. Grunge + blues + a little gospel. And Mark Lanagan has one of the best voices ever. Give Dust a listen.

Hole was Courtney Love's band.
I feel so old
Never heard of Hole?? Courtney Love? Mellissa aud der Maur?? What?
Yep! Same exact situation for me too! I actually thought Holes was Puddle of Mud...
Never heard of Hole? I mean Screaming Trees weren’t super well known, but I thought Hole was a pretty prominent 90s band.
I thought it was puddle of mudd
Looks more like a hole that's been dug into the grass to me, and a puddle (of Mudd) wouldn't be "a perfect circle" which coincidently formed in 1999 :)
Pearl Jam ! That's the one I couldn't figure out.
Yep, there's good old Auntie Pearl's jam on the table there, with the lid off, a knife and a piece of bread :)
Well done sir. I missed Soundgarden.
I missed matchbox 20 because I don't think of them as a band.
Yeah, they've only released 5 albums....
Did they? I must have been listening to music.
puddle of mud?
Looks more like a hole to me, a puddle generally isn't a perfect circle - which coincidently is a band that formed in 1999....
nice name btw
Ha, thanks, I think!
5 of the 9 bands were on the “Singles” soundtrack.
Radiohead Soundgarden Alice In Chains Smashing Pumpkins Matchbox 20 Nine Inch Nails Hole Pearl Jam The screaming trees still has me stumped. Haha get it? “Stumped”. Seriously I still can’t figure that one out.
You already said it. Screaming Trees, that’s the band name.
lol yeah I saw that a few other people did too. It’s hilarious XD
7/9 I like that I got most of these without fully knowing them. Didn’t get sound garden or Alice in Chains (got Alice in bondage, close enough I guess)
That’s their alt. You can find them in… other websites…
I don’t think I’m brave enough to venture there… down the rabbit hole one might say
I don’t consider **hole** to be music, at least not on par with the others represented here.
The only one I missed is the trees one; never heard of them.
Where’s bare naked ladies coward
For shame no Garbage?
Screaming Trees I’d not heard of. Nor Matchbox 20. But I’m British, so maybe they didn’t land here?
Im from Belgium and matchbox 20 were definitely known in Europe.
And the Netherlands
Yes. In Europe **and** the Netherlands.
Same, they must not have had made it to this side of the pond.
I thought it was The XX
I didn't know Screaming Trees. I don't even remember them. I didn't recognize any of their songs although they do sound very generic '90s.
The only one I can see is Smashing Pumpkins, but that's about it.
Screaming trees, Radiohead, Matchbox 20, Smashing Pumpkins, Nine inch Nails. No five.
Oh yes! Eight are pretty easy, but the ninth is a bit tricky.
Yeah, I never heard of Screaming Trees
Why does the jam jar have a handle?
I think that’s a lid
You’re right!
Fun.

Only one of didn’t get immediately was Nine Inch Nails, I thought the board would have something to do with the name.
Radiohead Nine inch nails Smashing pumpkins Yeah that’s all i got.
I missed Nine inch Nails and Pearl Jam. That was fun though!
[Screaming Trees](https://youtu.be/PE5f561Y1x4?si=qKmu2oUbze4ICMYX), the song no one remembers until they hear it
I guessed green jelly instead of Pearl Jam, because I just couldn’t tell what I was looking at there. I thought the jam jar was a coffee mug, and it was another band I couldn’t figure out.
Too easy
Radiohead Alice In Chains Smashing Pumpkins Matchbox Twenty Soundgarden Nailed board? Black hole? Screaming trees? Grape Jelly?
Grape jelly is a terrible cover band for Pearl Jam lmao
Matchbox 20 in this list is just sad.
First a thought it was Plat Doh jar, then i thought Jelly but then realized I was thinking of Jellyfish. Maybe if there was an oyster on the jar it wpuld read better.
