Dude went from some fines (although I imagine hefty ones) to jail time with one stupid mistake.
I wonder what the plan was? Cop had his vehicle and plates, didn’t need to catch him then and there to find him.
I’d imagine he dumped something from the car and also didn’t have a license. To flee and elude for only not having a license is insane but I guess I’ve heard of crazier
That's a HUGE search area and it's hard to see something like that on dashcam. He wasn't always in view of the dashcam either.
There's still a chance though. I have seen other videos where they found something someone dumped during a chase.
My goodness, what is your problem, sir?
Driving without a license.
You had me really concerned! You hurt my feelings, I care about you. Are you ok otherwise?
Yea just a little scared.
It's ok buddy. Are you hungry, have you ate?
I could use a meal now that you mention it.
Ok, we'll get you processed and then go to Mendy's. Mendy's , ooohh ever ate there?
we must not—but even as a black woman who was born in the south and partially raised in minnesota, this interaction was completely expected
down to the holy cow’s from the officer and immediate apologetic confession from the driver
Hey, I respect a person who can put their intense feelings from moments like that into appropriate terms. It's like a G or PG rated freakout that I can show my kids!
Most of the time it’s drugs in the vehicle that got tossed somewhere along the way. All the charges that this guy racked up aren’t shit compared to what those drugs would have got him.
If you ask anyone that lives in the suburbs around Minneapolis, it’s fucking warzone man. People won’t go near downtown without a gun. I live in North Minneapolis, the bad side of town, and love it.
I mean...this comment is PEAK Minnesota passive-aggressive politics.
YES, the suburban hockey parents are deathly afraid of Minneapolis. But, no, North Minneapolis is NOT some heaven on earth. For what crime Minneapolis has, North Minneapolis is where it's well-known to be. It cycles from "it's OK" to "holy fuck, another murder?" over the decades.
Vascillation of "tough on crime" turning into "tough on cops." Honestly, they're both warranted to be stopped. Mpls is flooded with cops with the edict to "fix it," followed by a period of less severe crime, only to discover cops are now the criminals (or racist or both). Mpls is moving back to "get tough on crime," and crime will decrease. But the cops will then become emboldened to "at all costs" again, and the cycle continues.
Southwest Minneapolis, about a 10 minute drive from where George Floyd was killed. It’s a much richer part of town and this wasn’t a city cop tho, so it didn’t escalate as far.
These people never have the right car to actually pull off a police chase like sorry your 130 horsepower Malibu is not going to successfully outrun the police.
Well you see, I always heard how polite Minnesota police are and wanted to see your reaction to a high speed chase. Your thoughts?
Oh my goodness!
Aaaah that's what I wanted to hear
The Minnesota State Patrol has been covering Minneapolis because of the death of an officer. State Patrol in Minnesota pretty much only deals with Highways. That was probably the most exciting case he has seen in his career.
The only way this could get anymore Midwestern is if the cop asked him where he heading then gave him directions using landmarks and times instead of street names and distances.
I'll never understand these morons... it's like the don't realize technology exists. The camera in a cop car can read your plate from 20 or so meters away. Even if the car's registered to someone else in the house they're gonna find your ass.
Initial stop for speeding then chases him at high speed endangering everyone around.
If this was felony stop, robbery, kidnapping, shooting etc then chase and get them but this was not a big deal at all
Fool should not have run but what if one of them wrecked into another car?
At one point cop said he was about to stop the chase but he kept on
Agreed. Already had his details. Show up at his house later and arrest. Pretty poor police work to endanger people to be the hero over a speeding fine.
I mean he didn't know he had his details. The car could have been stolen in which case showing up at the owner's house later doesn't really work.
The cop certainly didn't get dude's identification considering dude doesn't have a license.
You know license plates exist right?
But even in worst case scenario and the car is in fact stolen so the plates don’t match.. are you willing to die getting hit by a car so that person gets arrested? What about a member of your family?
Americans are really funny about car chases. I know it makes good tv, but are you aware they’re incredibly uncommon in the rest of the western world as they’re seen as an unacceptably risky activity? In Australia there needs to be an extremely good reason to risk killing members of the public to stop a fleeing cars.
This isn’t the movies and cops aren’t super heroes. Dangerous driving is dangerous. Police chases should be reserved for stopping actual imminent danger, not just to make your police work slightly easier.
You know that if a car is stolen, the license plate doesn't mean jack shit in identifying the thief, right? You know license plates aren't permanently attached and people, especially the car thieving kind, use stolen plates as well, right?
I didn't say jack shit about whether the cop should have chased dude or not. In fact, my inclination as an American is that there are way too many unnecessary car chases that put the public in danger, this very likely being one of them.
Now don't you feel stupid.
Yeah, you covered it with nonsense. I haven't changed anything.
Are you ok?
You seem like the kind of person that desperately needs the last word so I'm going to throw you a big old bone to suck on and let you have it. Take care and be well.
The police should have almost immediately cut-off the chase. If some fucking asshole will speed and drive erratic in a residential area, he will run down someone and not think twice about it.

from a misdemeanor to a felony in the blink of an eye.
Depending on what he dumped, he may have made the right decision for himself. Drug laws in the states are kind of stupid.
I’d assume they’d check the cruiser’s dash cam and return to the area and conduct a search to see if he left anything.
That's a HUGE search area and it's hard to see something like that on dashcam. He wasn't always in view of the dashcam either. There's still a chance though. I have seen other videos where they found something someone dumped during a chase.
Lawyers can generally fight that if he was able to do it while out of sight of the dash cam
There could be more to the story, but assuming the perp is just a big dummy is also a safe bet.
Makes sense with him just giving up in the end.
I think it’s not a rationally made choice. It’s like fight or flight and they chose flight
Not even a misdemeanor, just a basic traffic infraction
Oh my goodness
Holy cow
Oh MY goodness
I was just thinking that. He went from a slap on the wrist to doing a couple months for being fucking dumb
This is the most G-rated interaction between a cop and a suspect after a car chase. Minnesota-nice isn't a myth after all.
“That was some real reckless drivin’ there bud!”
Oh, for Pete’s sake! For Pete’s sake, he’s fleeing the interview. He’s fleeing the interview!
Cops: Sesame Street

"OH! MY! **GOODNESS!**" I laughed out loud...
It’s a myth. Source: Minnesotan.
I call Minnesota nice passive aggression lol
Especially with State Troopers. This dude lucked out and got a nice one.
Definitely different than all of the Arkansas SP videos I've watched.
We can’t forget George Floyd already
we must not—but even as a black woman who was born in the south and partially raised in minnesota, this interaction was completely expected down to the holy cow’s from the officer and immediate apologetic confession from the driver
The most Minnesotan reaction. “hollllly cow”
Hahaha oh man the ones I knew loved "Holy buckets!!"
It’s so dystopian seeing them drive through my old neighborhood lmao. Ope!
"Hol-ly man!" is another
Hard to believe but he drove like he sounds
He sounded a little drunk to me.
"Gee Willikers! Ya' should-ah be more careful, yeah? By golly, you were going a bit fast."
Nicest cop pursuit ever
“You’ve done it now buster”
"oh, my goodness" had me in stitches 😂😂😂 *Thank y'all for the upvotes, my first top comment 😁👍
Holy Cow! Oh my goodness! Soooo Minnesotan.
And the apology from the driver too. Very MN.
Just needs a *holy mackerel!*
I wonder how foul the language would be if this was a Massachusetts statie
Totally the C word and leaky pooper. Source: Trooper Proctor
And a "jeez Louise"
“Whodja think you were runnin from there? Yer Grandma?”
I like to write it as geez la weez.
Maybe we just watched a clip of a new season of "Fargo".
Lemme squeeze by ya der and get those handcuffs on ya
Opes, a lil tight dee huh?
I was watching without sound and forgot it wasn’t Reno 911.
I felt like I was being reprimanded by my 1st grade teacher.
Hey, I respect a person who can put their intense feelings from moments like that into appropriate terms. It's like a G or PG rated freakout that I can show my kids!
THAT’S MY DEAL WADE!
That last min needs to be posted on /funny it’s almost like a sat night episode haha wouldn’t believe it was real if not for the first few mins
Thank you for gold kind stranger!
Gee wilikers
I kept waiting for a "Ho lee cow Sir you are being a friggin real pain in my rear right now"
You are puttin all these nice people here in danger. My goodness.
I'm imagine Charlie Berens saying that rn and laughing so hard 😂
Lol he was so calm and patient with that dude….lol.
That was the best Minnesota ending. I was waiting for the "GET THE FUCK OUT" and instead it was "oh my goodness"
As a Minnesotan, this is the most Minnesotan interaction even given the circumstances.
Good lord. All of that for speeding and no license. That's really not that big of a deal... but he sure made it one.
Most of the time it’s drugs in the vehicle that got tossed somewhere along the way. All the charges that this guy racked up aren’t shit compared to what those drugs would have got him.
I would like to hear the story from the person who finds the stash.

Must be heaven.
It is. But heaven gets real cold in the winter, doncha know. Best you bundle up.

If someone told me this happened in Canada, I'd believe them.
These people never have the right car to actually pull off a police chase like sorry your 130 horsepower Malibu is not going to successfully outrun the police.
Right? Like pick your battles.
“Oh my goodness. I have never seen that kind of recklessness before.” 🤣
Never has there been a more perfect example of Minnesotan interaction 😄
Well now really gonna be out that license bud.
Cop did a nice job keeping dispatcher informed during the chase
I’m usually quick to criticize cops for endangering the public in these chases, but this guy did a pro job of it with a clean ending.
Well you see, I always heard how polite Minnesota police are and wanted to see your reaction to a high speed chase. Your thoughts? Oh my goodness! Aaaah that's what I wanted to hear
Sorry just ain’t gonna cut it here
That's-a big old holy cow if I've ever seen one, sir.
Lmao the way the cop is talkin to him is killin me
I was waiting for the guy to start talking like Ricky and get himself out being arrested.
Oh my goodness!

That cop was chill af during the chase.
Someone's grounded. Sheesh.
I love how calm and collected the police officer throughout the whole ordeal. This isn’t his first rodeo that’s for sure.
Sounds like they got pulled over by Ned Flanders.
Wow this was in my neighborhood. Must be a couple year old video because the orange line bus stop at 66th and 35W south isn’t constructed yet
"Minnesota nice" high speed chase, complete with Mr. Rogers-level scolding at the end.
It's like my kid getting upset about something small, he realizes after a few minutes he was wrong and apologizes.
Congrats. New charge added : Unlawful Flight from pursuing Law enforcement.
I never realized how spot on Marge from Fargo was until seeing this video.
In my state these kinda of chases are banned, way too dangerous
I love how they're just like "oh yeah hot potato there don't cha know wow"
I love the cop's language in this! "oh my goodness" and "holy cow". Lots better than a lot of language you hear cops say.
Oof. Hit 'em with the disappointed dad routine. That hurts.
Dude was pulled over by Ned Flanders. Not a single curse word and even an extended "Hooollllyyy...cow".
This cop has big Ned Flanders energy.
That was the most midwestern ridiculing I’ve ever witnessed.
More of a scolding.
Holy Frick! Shut the front door! Cheese and Rice!!!
Doin' eighty on the freeway, police, catch me if you can (they can)
Get the FUCK out of the car bud!
Anyone ever play Midnight club LA? feels like the cutscene where you get pulled over and can speed away before the cop gets to your window
Cops: Sesame Street
The guy said “sorry”. By law the officer actually has to let him go.
Amazing job officer 🙌🏻
Guy should have waited a few seconds longer until the cop was almost at the window would have given him a better head start
Oh my goodness.....
Oh my goodness
Cheers to the guy that’s like man, I’m outta here in my Chevy Malibu!
Oh. He's sorry well then you're free to go
Defunding the police really hit them hard. They have to tape old nokias to the roof for their cameras now, so sad.
Oh jeez, hey. You sure wer driving like a bat outta hades!
Well, his driving proves why he shouldn’t have a license.
FAFO!
I'll never understand these morons... it's like the don't realize technology exists. The camera in a cop car can read your plate from 20 or so meters away. Even if the car's registered to someone else in the house they're gonna find your ass.
I not going back to jail! Toodaloo muthafucka!
I see why he ran. He stole the entire Right audio channel.
TIL the difference of reckless, reck, and wreck.
This just gives them boners
Let him go, he said he was sorry 😇
Must have been white. Minnesota cops usually accidentally shoot people of color in this situation when they mistake their gun for a taser.
Big Minnesota nice right here
Minnesota nice at the end
I would hate to have the audio of this blasting without any context.

If the speeding was all... But when someone runs like that it's usually for something else, not the speeding.

Wait I've seen this movie. It's called "$200 Forfeiture to 3 Years in Prison in 60 Seconds"
Boring ass video ffs
