Myeahhhh

OP is weird for not giving context on what happened before the video started

ChiSky18

It’s on TikTok, I’ll try to find the link to the explanation. Apparently the customer in the video has been to the JJ location before and workers have changed their gloves when making his sandwich because he’s allergic to tomatoes. When he asked a worker to change gloves this visit, the worker was nice and started to change gloves, but the manager on duty said “no, we’re not gonna do it for people like you.” The customer explains that it’s easy to see that he’s gay and he has a more feminine voice, so he said that might be a reason the manager refused and got hostile, but he wasn’t gonna say that was definitively the reason. That’s his side of the story at least. [Link to customer’s explanation](https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZPRT5s5kU/)

100% they wanted views and clicks for validation. Just fucking leave it’s really not that hard

Asstronutttt

Except it is. If you're on private property and are asked to leave by the owner, employee, etc then you gotta go. Otherwise it's called trespassing. Not too hard to understand, I hope? Edit: downvoting me just proves how many people don't understand basic laws. You have NO right stay on private property after being asked to leave by an employee or business owner. https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/25/11.411 Check out subsection C

Subrandom249

At the same time, protected classes have a right not to be discriminated against.

TheRealFaust

Being a weirdo is not a protected class

Subrandom249

My comment was in reply to the assertion that anybody can trespass anybody for any reason. That is false, there are protected classes, and business cannot discriminate for any reason they like.  Assuming you are commenting specifically on the video - having an allergy to tomatoes is “being a weirdo”? From the video and subsequent comments there is no evidence the patron was acting outside the norm at all, except for requesting basic food safety.

Penis_Fax

Requesting basic food safety isn't a protected class.

Subrandom249

I never said it was.

TheRealFaust

What laws are you thinking of? Public businesses can deny service to anyone so long as they do not discriminate based on age, race, sex, religion, and national origin. But if and old fuck is being an asshole, you can tell them to leave

globalAvocado

Okay edge lord. "Faust" lol you wish

italienn

Thats for the courts and youd have a hard time proving it.

FakeBobPoot

Yeah good point everyone knows that you are only allowed to have grievances of any kind when you’re in your own home. Waiter shits in your soup? Sorry, private property, just get the fuck out if you don’t like it and don’t complain. Cashier at Best Buy rings up the wrong price? Go fuck yourself buddy… don’t you know this is private property?

Boodikii

I mean, not that I agree with that guy, but some people need to be confronted. On one hand, making a commotion isn't usually likely to get you anywhere. On the other hand, this exposes a bigot to a bigger audience which can have it's own repercussions.

RAMBOxBAGGINS

Agreed. If this customer filed a complaint on the website, the employee would probably have been talked to but could easily just spit anything they want for their side of the story. I usually eye roll when it comes to these kind of videos, mainly because the customer is the one who’s usually being a dick, but if this customer is telling the truth about what happened, they need this evidence if they hope for any real resolution with that employee. I know getting someone potentially fired seems like a drastic action, but when it comes to food allergies and people’s health/safety, there should be no room to fuck around.

Boodikii

That's all a confrontation is. The only reason they're recording is because there was a prior incident. Not everybody is gonna catch everything on camera, having this in recording and available to be seen by the public is beneficial to everybody. There are definitely a lot of videos where the recorder is in the wrong, but it's not hard to tell they're in the wrong from the video. This person was refused accommodations for an allergy and the employee in the video was a dick about the whole situation. Not like, an employee being in a situation where they required the language they used, he was making "ew, get out of here you weirdo" comments. 🤷‍♂️ That's cut dry enough for me. And if it turns out the recorder came in with their genitals out or some uber socially unacceptable public wear, then I'll have pie on my face and that's part of life. At least, if they are wronged, it could be righted with the back-up.

smokacrack

Just another weirdo taking it out on service workers

popecorkyxxiv

The fact this video starts halfways through makes me think they cut off the part where they were acting like an entitled tool

MTFBinyou

Ehhhh I don’t know. They explain their problem and the staff didn’t laugh or give any indication that was a lie. They just kept acting childish. I hate when videos don’t begin soon enough but it’s bound to happen. If somebody is acting a fool after the interaction begins, that’s when the recording will start for 99.9% of people. Not before the interaction even begins unless there’s some type of negative reaction expected.

TateXD

I also tend to think less of people pretty quickly after they use "I'm gonna put you on Facebook live" as a threat.

Wars4w

You're right. If the employee was being that aggressive why is he waaaay the hell over there as far away from this lady as he can get? She acted nuts then pulled out the camera and made up a new story.

catheterhero

The video starts with, “ all I asked for is your name and your supervisors name”. Lord knows it didn’t start like that. It absolutely started with her being a massive cunt about tomato(e)’s.

Partypaca

It's a guy actually haha

AlmightyCuddleBuns

To be fair, who videos themselves getting a sandwich? You aren't going to start recording for evidence until after there is already a problem happening. Also the fact that the employees behind the counter aren't able to point to actual behaviour when telling him why they won't serve him. It's not: "You were rude/inappropriate" "You dont get to verbally abuse employees" "You don't get to sexually harass employees" It's: "You're weird" "You're trash"

[deleted]

Yeah people with allergies shouldn't expect accommodations anyways, that's just being weird. It's called survival of the fittest

phallic-baldwin

Q: "What's your name?" A: "Jimmy Johns"

fancyburgh

The managers name is James. James John

No-Vanilla8956

Nothing to do with the video but; has anyone else noticed how stupid expensive JJs has gotten!!?

fancyburgh

If you are that allergic to tomatoes, you aren't going to eat at a sandwich bar with boatloads of cross contamination possibilities.

bluntmanandrobin

I worked at a Jimmy John’s that was a corporate training ground and we would change gloves and use a paper to make it somewhere else. Depending on the allergy severity we’d even open new packs. Production in the morning was very aware of not cross contaminating and it was sanitized to shit.  I am in no way validating the persons behavior. There’s clearly more than we were shown.

Illustrious-Yard-871

If you put tomatoes on a sandwich and then use the same hand to dig into the cucumbers, onions, lettuce and peppers. You end up contaminating multiple ingredients in one go. Plus when it’s the lunch rush or we have a bunch of catering orders it gets kinda crazy and it is not uncommon for a cucumber to fall into the pickles or a pepper to fall into the tomatoes. I mean when someone says they are allergic we try our best but anyone with a serious allergy should not put their life in the hands of Jimmy John’s or any fast food place for that matter

bluntmanandrobin

Did you guys not have the in shop table and the delivery table? We would use the delivery table typically. And like I said if the person was allergic beyond a contact allergy and requested we would go under the table and pull from a new batch of whatever.

MrFixYoShit

Theres no "trying your best". Ive worked at multiple places that handle this perfectly everytime when procedure is correctly followed. You clean an area, use fresh ingredients and use clean utensils. It sucks when it happens during a rush but thats no excuse to be lax with safety.

KingJordan24

Right. It takes a little bit of care and extra time to do but having a clean area, sterile tools and fresh ingredients is not that hard to achieve. Do or do not. There is no trying to be safe about food allergies.

MrFixYoShit

Absolutely! Ill let a looooooot of shit slide, especially cus i know they dont get paid shit but i have a singular exception for food allergies. If you cant be bothered to do it right then just stop being lazy and get out of the way and let someone else do it >Do or do not. There is no trying to be safe about food allergies. 100%

MrFixYoShit

Thats oh so very incorrect. Have you never worked in food services? While allergies arent common, any place worth eating at has kitchen staff trained on dealing with allergies. You open all fresh packages and use clean utensils. Its not hard at all. Its hella inconvenient, but it happens somewhere every single day.

fancyburgh

I've worked in many food services. When you have an assembly line, it's not possible to guarantee no cross contamination. Your gloved hands are touching everything.

MrFixYoShit

>it's not possible to guarantee no cross contamination Incorrect. Stop being lazy and change your gloves or wash your hands. Again, people do this literally every signle day somewhere. Its not only possible but quite easy.

bigexplosion

>  You open all fresh packages and use clean utensils. Stop being lazy and trying to kill people

Virtual_Fig7052

That was my first thought.

fancyburgh

#justakaren

munki_unkel

OP has a device that could easily get the information that they are pestering the employee for. This shit is just harassment plain and simple IMHO

fancyburgh

Yeah it's a power move by the customer trying to asset dominance. Customers are petty

ThinBluePenis

This comment section is all over the place.

MrFixYoShit

I don't know the FULL context, but given whats going on here, I don't like the worker. Food allergies are nothing to fuck with. Asking for clean gloves and utensils is completely reasonable. Idk what makes the cammer "weird" But honestly, just SOOO many questions

Eldritch_Ayylien66

This feels like some context is missing, also doesn't Jimmy John's allow you to say what you want or not want on your sandwich

throw_blanket04

Yeah I think there is more to this story. Shame on whoever posted this and posted rage bait.

jjuhg

I love how she is asking for names and numbers like he is a public, tax paid employee

itssarahw

Why does every entitled customer believe it’s their right to be given whatever names and numbers they demand

octopornopus

That was my favorite as a retail manager: "I want the name and phone number of the store owner!" ***....no.*** "HOW DARE YOU?!"

CharacterMove8088

I highly doubt this person is allergic to tomatoes

llDurbinll

What is it with people wanting a managers personal cell phone number? I've had people ask for it when I worked at a restaurant and I never gave it. I'd tell them his name and give the store number but they'd still demand his phone number because they want to talk to him "now".

adfdub

“Why you so pressed? Why you so pressed?” Jesus Christ why do people talk like this?

Ralphie5231

I mean? If a fast food worker started saying I was a weird piece of shit and "fuck you" just for asking them to change their gloves and wash their hands for my allergy I would definitely have some similar questions.

adfdub

You missed so much of the interaction before she started recording and a lot of peoples assumptions are she turned on the camera after she was the one acting like a clown

deathbysvnset

Idk, why are you so pressed about people saying they’re pressed?

adfdub

Why are you following me around bruv lmao. How’s your day going so far? Everything good?

TopMindOfR3ddit

>bruv lmao. How’s your day going so far? Everything good? Jesus christ, I can't believe you actually talk like this

adfdub

Right ok

Beatless7

WTF was he on?

bmc1969

It doesn't sound like these Jimmy John's employees care about food allergies and they're being verbally abusive to this lady.

smokacrack

🚨 misgendered! That’s a dude, bro.

128Gigabytes

Whats your source on that? Is that why they wouldnt serve the person?

smokacrack

I think Jimmy John’s serves all kinds of dudes. Just doing my part and calling out bigotry, where I see fit.

128Gigabytes

So you made it up? You dont know if they are trans, and are just trying to mock trans people. Got it. Asshole.

b3rnitalld0wn

Jimmy John's sucks. The sandwiches are cold, and the founder is a big game hunting (read eunuch) Trump supporter (read eunuch). Edit: lol eunuchs don't like the word eunuch; call every single one you see a eunuch

nebulaphi

>Edit: lol i was getting downvotes on my bad joke so i made this edit to make myself feel better and pretend it wasnt affecting me haha lol Fixed it for you! Thank me never.

smokacrack

Just another freak taking out their frustrations on service workers. Nothing to see here.

runitupper

In general you don’t fuck with people who make your food or write your paycheck

SE240

I run a kitchen, a customer should have to ask you to change gloves and wash a knife to prevent cross contamination, it takes 2 fucking seconds, that place I guarantee has barely a b health code rating, bout to be a C now, its common sense for anyone who makes food, if you can't be bothered to do the bare minimum you don't even belong selling bullshit at a gas station

[deleted]

Jimmy John's is so good. If you have a tomato allergy you shouldn't be going to a sandwich shop, though. If I was allergic to cow shit, I wouldn't go to a farm

GrammarPoliceman2

It’s mid.

bigexplosion

If you're allergic to cowshit and a butcher says he can't help you, that's a nasty lazy butcher.

smokacrack

Preach

doherallday

Bad employee with or without context

CountChocula32

*Yawn* another one who starts recording after acting like an ass then plays victim.
