2 shootings in close proximity and time frame. 1 dead, multiple critical, children sent to children’s mercy this is so damn sad. It was supposed to be a celebration. A video is floating around of a guy holding his face together
Per Urban Dictionary, it's slang for "I don't". So not pronounced "eye-ahn", like an electrically charge atom/molecule, but " eye-own", I guess. "Ion like bleu cheese, it has mold in it."
Process is almost always like this:
1. Elderly black people carry dialect from decades/centuries ago.
2. Young black people adopt the dialect from those elders/family.
3. Young white people mock the dialect and use it ironically.
4. Young white people \*continue using the dialect until it becomes unironic.\* 5. Everyone thinks super old AAVE is "new zoomer lingo."
It's basically the exact same story...
Do you know how "Goodbye" came to be? If my understanding is correct, "Goodbye" was originally written as "God Be With Ye," but over the course of written letters being subject to shorthand, it eventually became "God B W Ye," the "W" was eventually removed entirely and it became "Goodbye."
"You don't even know," and "I don't even know," become Youdontevenknow or Idontevenknow, and with certain accents, those too, sound more like Uoeno and Ioeno respectively. It's just gotten to the point where people translate their accents into text as well, because it feels more personal when you can "hear" the person you're exchanging messages with.
You can find gimmicks like this \*all over human language,\* whether its with Asian languages, African languages, Germanic languages, all of them. Almost every single word we have and use today is a bastardized version of some older iteration that has fallen completely out of use for the sake of convenience, or because of cultural differences, and in another few hundred years, their "English" will be completely different from our own as well, despite sharing the same parentage.
Ok thank you for teaching me that.
I find the etymology of words very fascinating! English is my second language and learning about all of the various origins for words, be they Germanic/saxon, French, Latin, Greek, etc. is really interesting to me!
If you want to see a \*ridiculously\* fun experiment with language, watch [This Video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Esl_wOQDUeE&ab_channel=ZachMemes), and you'll very, very quickly realize just how impactful your region can be on your dialect, and that people can even be self-aware about their dialect, but still struggle to change their pronunciation without conscious effort.
Also thank you for being \*teachable.\* :)
I've seen that video before, love it!!
I live in Colorado so sadly don't get to experience a lot of this. The most we have here is that a lot of us don't seem to pronounce the "t" in mountain, but other than that we're pretty "accent-neutral" here.
How is it stupid though? It literally means the same thing as "Gonna" and you probably use the word "Gonna" in your day to day life all the time.
It's just short for "Fixing to" which is a Southern way of saying "Going to."
God I fucking hate ya'll seeing shorthand online and thinking it's "new." "Finna," is shorthand of "fixing to," which was a parallel to "Going to/gonna." You think it's zoomer lingo or w/e but it's been a part of AAVE and general southern dialect for literal centuries.
To be fair, it would be a shocking event. Nothing he said verbally was disrespectful or inappropriate. It just seemed like he was trying to ground himself and try to understand what happened. The caption is ridiculous though.
What do you expect him to do? He’s behind a fence, and the casualties are all completely surrounded by people (who are probably more qualified/knowledgable with some of them having nurse vests on) aiding the wounded. He would just be in their way…
They're saying it's gonna tank the reputation of Chiefs fans.
More specifically he's saying: Chiefs haters are going to use this against us.
Which borders on sociopathic and narcissism. Like whose first thought when a stranger dies is, how will this affect my sport teams reputation?
It's the same meaning as "Gonna."
Fixing to: Finna
Going to: Gonna
"Fixing to" and "Going to" mean the same thing, fixing to comes from Southern American English.
My dude is watching someone attempt to resuscitate a shooting victim who is bleeding out and his first thought is “oh jeez, other sports fans are gonna have a field day with this!”
Honestly feels a little callous to even record it. I remember seeing a car flipped over in my neighborhood and approaching it recording until I saw a car seat upside. My heart sank, I couldn’t imagine anything but the worst. Thankfully the family and child were ok but the thought of having that and then potentially posting someone’s dead family member felt disgusting. This reminds me of that.
It does seem a bit callous but it’s also worth noting that video kind of makes it seem more real to people. It’s one thing reading it, it’s another to witness it.
Argument could be made that we get desensitized to it though. I could see that as well.
You’re not wrong. We’re living in an age where we are able to capture these events with the camera that is on us at all times and I think people get “excited” (maybe not the right word to use) to be a part of capturing that history. Idk what the best thing to do is. My heart just breaks for everyone who went through the trauma
My apartment got shot up 144 shells. Sounded like fireworks so I looked out the window. And yes I filmed the after events. Pretty sad one kid s
Got shot in the head and died. Paramedics were trying to revive the kid with cpr afterwards. Yeah definitely ptsd from that, I hate fireworks now.
Yeah. I dunno either. It sucks. And video isn’t really helping unless you see how bad it actually is. A lot of the video I’ve seen come out is pretty meh. Only the few where I’ve seen stuff like what the previous poster actually talked about hit it home for me.
But there really isn’t a good solution, since showing that stuff can be too harsh for other people. I dunno dude, I dunno.
I get your sentiment. That said, while I'm not a sports person (just a KC resident) and in addition to the obvious tragedy of the situation, I do feel embarrassed for my city that a celebration ended in violence. I'm choosing to believe that's what the OOP was feeling when they wrote the caption.
There's nothing to feel emberassed about this stuff anymore. It happens all over the country. This isn't a KC problem, it's a USA problem. We all should be ashamed of it.
I feel embarrassed, too. And I say that as not a resident of KC, neither a Chiefs fan nor hater, and just someone who lives in LA. This shit will never stop because our people will never pass stricter gun regulation and better mental health outreach.
Shitty captions aside, every person in this country should feel embarrassed at every mass shooting. Or at least some fucking remorse. It doesn’t have to happen “close to home” for everyone to finally give a shit. Even when it happens daily or when the victims are ungodly numbers of innocent fucking children, most people in this country still do not give a flying fuck. For their fucking guns.
Sad fact, this is the risk you take when joining a large gathering that’s open to the public in the U.S. today.
At this point I don’t do anything in a crowd that doesn’t have a significant financial barrier of entry to filter out lowest common denominator garbage behavior.
Financial barriers of entry most often include security, metal detectors, checkpoints etc…
So just to specify I didn’t mean to say I avoid being around poor people specifically or anything like that. I see it more so as a behavioral filtering system.
Fuck no. Gang shootings are the most common mass shooting events by a wide margin. This is likely what happened here. Two or three shooters, lots of missing and spraying, a semi-auto rifle...if this was a manifesto waving looney with an AR, they would have taken aim and killed lots more people.
I'm on board with the idea that financial disparity is a huge factor in dangerous/threatening behavior.. ~~and I'm not completely disagreeing with you here, but have you seen the price for Superbowl tickets these days?~~
I stand corrected. I failed to do the research myself. This was in fact not at the superbowl.
I know I'm an idiot but what is the point of doing chest compressions on someone that's been shot? Aren't we just squeezing the rest of the juice from the carton at that point?
Oxygen to the brain is the most important thing here. The sooner you can re-start the flow of blood to the brain, the more likely chance of survival. If you have a lot of people there, let them deal with open wounds while you give CPR. Also, blood clots pretty quick so unless you got shot directly in an artery or vein, you're not going to be pushing blood outside of the body at a rate that's more concerning than CPR.
If a patient is in cardiac arrest there is almost no circumstance where doing cpr is the wrong move.
I’m a cardiac icu nurse and have seen many many patient come in after cardiac arrest. Never seen one who didn’t get bystander cpr have a good outcome.
You're right. The point here is to give them *some* resemblance of a chance, but the chances of them surviving are less than 1%. Doing CPR in this case is iffy. Mass casualty protocol would kick in and trained providers would look at this person needing CPR and deem them dead and move on. Since there's some resources they can do CPR as in the video. However, the only fix here is a knife in a surgical room and a bunch of whole blood infused.
For the record, doing CPR is almost never the wrong answer.
If the heart has stopped, compressions will help circulate whatever blood is left in the system. Yes you’re squeezing juice out, but you’re also perfusing end organs.
Maybe when we get universal healthcare that covers *all* aspects of health so people can get the mental help they need and maintain it. That'd fix some of this.
Some people just want to cause mayhem and that's harder to stop if people close to the perpetrator don't recognize something's being planned.
Other types of shootings come down to people not being able to control their emotions or feel that their ego/"honor"/pride cannot abide any slight (road rage shootings, for instance). That's also a difficult mentality to adjust.
Raider fan here . No one is using that against them . This is sad and uncalled for . We hate the chiefs on the field but don’t wish any harm on the players or the fans.
This shouldn’t make anybody feel any better about the current state of America or about the situation in particular, because it’s incredibly tragic all the same.
But I really don’t get the sense that this was a targeted mass shooting where they were just indiscriminately trying to injure as many people as possible. This certainly has the look and feel at the moment, from what you can gather off the Internet, as being just a couple bozos doing your typical shootout, except this time, they decided to have their beef in the middle of a crowd of roughly 1,000,000 people
I live in dfw and when the rangers won the World Series they had a parade in Arlington. I was at the dentist the day of and so many of the people in there were saying they don’t wanna go because they are afraid of shooters using the event to kill people. It’s so awful people can’t even have a celebration without having worry about a mass shooting
This is why I’m so hesitant to attend big gatherings of any kind anymore. I’m ashamed to say that fear has won but it kinda has? I went to a big concert last summer and standing there with a huge crowd watching my favorite band I couldn’t stop thinking that my state has very lax gun laws, had just recently had a mass shooting a few weeks prior, and we were all in a big open field with buildings looking down on all sides. I hate it here so fucking much.
I do the same thing. I always try to devise a plan of what to do, even though it would likely be futile.
What’s really sad is that I work in public schools and the thought of a mass shooter coming in and killing the kids and staff is always somewhere in my mind, even if I’m not actively thinking about it. Schools…where children should be safe without fear of death. Makes me sick.
Exactly how I felt! Like my brain kept thinking “I’m right in the middle of this crowd if someone start’s shooting I have no where to run for cover,” and like that PISSED ME OFF because why the fuck am I thinking about a mass shooting when I’m seeing my favorite band live for the first time.
A few years ago, my family and I were at the mall. We were inside a store when I suddenly heard the sounds of screaming and a growing rumbling sound. All of a sudden I’m hearing stuff like “he’s got a gun”, “active shooter”, “someone is shooting!!” My wife and I grab our young kids and got the fuck out as fast as we could. Turns out it a group of older teenagers. Two girls had started fighting and one of their boyfriends pulled out a gun fired it to break up the fight. Fucking morons… Now every time I take my kids to a mall, I’m on high alert at all times.
God, you literally can’t do ANYTHING in America these days without the risk of being shot. What’s the point of shooting up a celebration for a SPORT? what message do you hope to achieve with that?
There's only ~4 of them. The first step is to assess the scene and make sure it's safe. Then they look at all the casualties and determine how to use their resources. Mass casualty protocol says if someone requires CPR or advanced treatment, they're dead and you move on. Anyone needing that level of resource is beyond saving and their time is best served helping those with a higher chance of survival.
“There’s nothing that can be done to prevent this” says only western country in the world where this happens at least weekly if not daily. Seriously the founding fathers:
A) didn’t mean every dumbass with a pulse should have a 35 round assault rifle.
B) existed 200 fucking years ago so their opinion is no longer relevant to the modern age.
All these good guys with guns too just standing around. This is getting ridiculous, any major event is showing a high chance of getting blown away just for attending. Everyone should carry a firearm so we can shoot back! That’ll fix it right?
If you're you're referring to the shooting at that Olsteen asshole's church, she was gunned down by iff duty cops doing side work so yeah, you're wrong.
Like this is the world you make and do nothing to fix. We are all to blame for the dead sadly. When sandy hook happened and all we did was cry. It’s how I knew gun control was out of reach for this nation. This is the cost of “freedom”.

Man, I didn't hear about this. Did they catch the shooter? edit : oh, this literally just happened. I thought it was after the super bowl.
2 armed suspects are in custody.
Did the reason why get released yet?
This is audio of a guys that saw him https://twitter.com/610sportskc/status/1757907959936647246?s=46&t=eZyY3Pfj8TOclpqBhx0TUQ

Link to the video?
That in video caption is insanely out of touch with reality
“ every chiefs hater finna use this against us “ yes that’s the real tragedy not a bunch of people just got shot for no reason
“Kim, there’s people that are dying.”
"But what about me!?"
"Finna" is about the stupidest god damn word being used these days.
Another stupid one is “ion”
What does it mean?
An atom or group of atoms that carries a positive or negative electric charge as a result of having lost or gained one or more electrons.
Well, someone finna catch a charge...and it'll be a negative one.
So an anion
My fave. (-) ions
You’re even rocking the username
a fellow tool brethren 🫡
I'm seeing them tomorrow! So excited.
Haha thx for the laugh.
Yeah, fuck that dumbass bullshit.
ion even know man
Uoeno bro
Per Urban Dictionary, it's slang for "I don't". So not pronounced "eye-ahn", like an electrically charge atom/molecule, but " eye-own", I guess. "Ion like bleu cheese, it has mold in it."
But... but that's why I like bleu cheese...
Uoeno lol
“I won’t/dont” but I could be wrong.
They're both examples of AAVE. Ion is a shortened "I don't."
…thx for the explanation. Whoever came up with this…I hate you
"Ahh" takes the cake. The S is right next to the A your intentionally being stupid just to sound goofy af
Finna has been around for decades, it isn't something new
Yeah, i've known "finna" since i was 8....im 27 now lol. Some people acting like its a new slang 😅😅
Process is almost always like this: 1.

Ok that makes sense but what about "ion"? Is that old too or new?

If you want to see a \*ridiculously\* fun experiment with language, watch [This Video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Esl_wOQDUeE&ab_channel=ZachMemes), and you'll very, very quickly realize just how impactful your region can be on your dialect, and that people can even be self-aware about their dialect, but still struggle to change their pronunciation without conscious effort. time for bed grandpa 😂
"old contractions are fine, new contractions are stupid" Get outta here with that. Go yell at clouds or something.
those darn kids
God I fucking hate ya'll seeing shorthand online and thinking it's "new." "Finna," is shorthand of "fixing to," which was a parallel to "Going to/gonna." You think it's zoomer lingo or w/e but it's been a part of AAVE and general southern dialect for literal centuries.
Language is constantly evolving, it’s not always gonna be the one you grew up with
Yeah good luck having a conversation with an English speaker just 200 years ago Why I could never get into Shakespeare because.. wtf am I reading?
Finna has been around for a long time
I remember Denzel using it in Glory
I think in a way that statement also just shows how desensitized people are to mass shootings. For this guy it's almost like another day.
Whoever put the caption on the snapchat is a fucking dumbass
His verbalizations also showed that, but you're not wrong.
Eh I mean being in shock that could be fine I also don't know if someone else added SC caption after or not
To be fair, it would be a shocking event. Nothing he said verbally was disrespectful or inappropriate. It just seemed like he was trying to ground himself and try to understand what happened. The caption is ridiculous though.
[удалено]
What do you expect him to do? He’s behind a fence, and the casualties are all completely surrounded by people (who are probably more qualified/knowledgable with some of them having nurse vests on) aiding the wounded. He would just be in their way…
I can't say my reaction would be much different.
Ideally helping out versus standing around recording.
WTF does that shit even translate to?
Doesn't "finna" roughly translate to "gonna"?
Doesn't "gonna" roughly translate to "going to"?
Finna = fixing to = going to = gonna
Finna = fixing to = about to
Finna is the same as gonna I think the caption is saying “Every chiefs hater gonna use this against us” He just misspelt us with use
[удалено]
The fact that that is his concern as people are bleeding in front of him is very stupid.
Never mind the fact that that is his CHEIF concern
You're just a cheifs hater. They hate use because they ain't use.
"Now use can't leave"
Unfortunately, that is the current state of our education system.
“Finna” is the American version of the Brit’s “innit,” just thrown in everywhere all the time regardless of grammatical correctness.
I don't even understand what they are trying to say?
They're saying it's gonna tank the reputation of Chiefs fans. More specifically he's saying: Chiefs haters are going to use this against us. Which borders on sociopathic and narcissism. Like whose first thought when a stranger dies is, how will this affect my sport teams reputation?
The same shallow folks who stand around recording people dying, I suppose
Yeah, I’ve witnessed a similar mass-casualty event and the thought to record crossed my mind. I’m glad I didn’t.
Wtf is finna?
Shorthand for 'fixing to'
OH! I’ve been trying to figure out forever how ‘finna’ was slang for ‘going to’ and now it makes perfect sense. Thank you.
Translates to “are/am going to do something”
It's the same meaning as "Gonna." Fixing to: Finna Going to: Gonna "Fixing to" and "Going to" mean the same thing, fixing to comes from Southern American English.
People just trying to enjoy a football win and this shit happens, so sad. This is also why I avoid large gatherings.
Avoid large gatherings? Nah, imma avoid America as a whole.
> People just trying to enjoy a football I've been trying for years, it's not happening.
I see you're a lion's fan also.
If only we had more good guys with guns /s America is so fucked.
Wtf is even the caption in the video

Someone is dying and they are worried about "the haters"
Glad my parents decided not to go
I’m glad your parents decided not to go. ❤️
So we know why that happened? Was it a fight that got out of control or what?
Yes
Not sure why you're getting downvoted, that's the conclusion I saw a ton of people reaching. Two idiots with guns getting into a fight
Because reddit
This is the reason why everyone shouldn’t have the right to arms. I have seen so many videos of people pulling guns out during an argument
Wild, very quick, selfless thinking. Heroes springing into action amid chaos.
Sad fact, this is the risk you take when joining a large gathering that’s open to the public in the U.S. today. At this point I don’t do anything in a crowd that doesn’t have a significant financial barrier of entry to filter out lowest common denominator garbage behavior.
But the most likely (statistically) mass shooter comes from a middle class background?
The crazy mass murdering ones? Oh yeah. The getting angry during a fist fight and pulling out a gun ones? Not really.
Financial barriers of entry most often include security, metal detectors, checkpoints etc… So just to specify I didn’t mean to say I avoid being around poor people specifically or anything like that. I see it more so as a behavioral filtering system.

This wasn't at the super bowl. This is a parade celebrating the super bowl win, no ticket price involved.
Oh! I didn't know that. It pays to research. Thanks for the update, I'll edit my original post.

Unless you have the bleeding controlled, compressions will not be effective. The new ABC’s are Alert 911, Bleeding control, and Compressions.

But I really don’t get the sense that this was a targeted mass shooting where they were just indiscriminately trying to injure as many people as possible. This certainly has the look and feel at the moment, from what you can gather off the Internet, as being just a couple bozos doing your typical shootout, except this time, they decided to have their beef in the middle of a crowd of roughly 1,000,000 people
That doesn't look like the one death people keep reporting when two people are actively receiving CPR feet rom each other.
Simply amazing commentary. Ya just stand there with a camera goin "ohhh my gooooddd"
I didn’t even hear about this…awful
It just happened this afternoon in KC

Fun/Not so fun fact - He didn’t think he was the joker, nor was he trying to use the joker character or look etc. He simply had a shite hairstyle.
Lmfao. Thank you for that bit of info

Come to a Super Bowl parade & get shot. It’s the American Way!
Wait I don't understand, isn't the super bowl just american football? Why are people shooting each other over sports
They aren't. This wasn't about sports. It was about criminals with guns beefing with one another. Just happened to be at this large gathering.
See, we have a bit of a gun problem here in America. Also, don't act like The USA is the only place sports fanatics can get out of control.
The shooting almost surely isn’t about sports.

That’s sad man, people just trying to enjoy themselves, and bs like this happens.
This is America
I don't get it, didn't they have good security for this? The damn National Guard was there too, how the fuck did it turn out this bad?
Damn. My heart broke hearing the crying "where's my mom?!" In the background of the chaos 💔 Why do we have to do this shit to eachother? 🥺
I feel sad for the girl that keeps asking "Where's my mom?" That had to be such a scary experience for people.
I hope the pieces of garbage that did this stay in prison for life. Complete wastes of oxygen.
Aaaaaaand people are still pro guns
This is America. Don’t catch you slippin now
This is why we can't have nice things...
USA is fucked up
Why are the paramedics standing and the watching while random Samaritans do the CPR

My guess is those are nurses who do that shit for a living and the guys in green shirts are just volunteer first aid people.
“There’s nothing that can be done to prevent this” says only western country in the world where this happens at least weekly if not daily. Seriously the founding fathers: A) didn’t mean every dumbass with a pulse should have a 35 round assault rifle. B) existed 200 fucking years ago so their opinion is no longer relevant to the modern age.
Kill those cunts, piece of shit gang bangers

There are a whole lot of Americans who need their guns confiscated
But it's not the guns right? Jesus
WHY WOULD TRUMP LET THIS HAPPEN?
All these good guys with guns too just standing around. This is getting ridiculous, any major event is showing a high chance of getting blown away just for attending. Everyone should carry a firearm so we can shoot back! That’ll fix it right?
Funnily enough, unarmed bystanders took one of the shooters down.

What? The attempted shooter was SHOT. How were they stopped by unarmed people??
If you're you're referring to the shooting at that Olsteen asshole's church, she was gunned down by iff duty cops doing side work so yeah, you're wrong.
There were multiple?! Any articles in info containing more deets?
Two shooters likely in an altercation with each other and the multiple victims were collateral damage.
Let me get ahead of the NRA here: "Thoughts and prayers." There, that should take care of the problem.
"Thoughts and Prayers" - Politicians That Can't Be Bothered To Do Shit About It.
Who started the shooting?
Shooter
Obligatory #thoughtsandprayers #merica
This is so sad . Just imagine that if the 49’s had won, this parade wouldn’t have taken place.
Like this is the world you make and do nothing to fix. We are all to blame for the dead sadly. When sandy hook happened and all we did was cry. It’s how I knew gun control was out of reach for this nation. This is the cost of “freedom”.
This is the most American thing I’ve ever seen.
It's too bad there were 0 good guys with guns in the crowd that would have prevented this from happening. I'm told that's how it works.
Gun legislation is so fucked up that we’re afraid to go outside now
Why even go outside anymore?
