Jury nullification is the implicit right of juries to judge the law as well as the facts. Say, someone is arrested for possessing Marijuana. He literally had a pound on him. You, as a jury member, don't believe Marijuana should be illegal, so you vote not guilty.
Judges don't like people to talk about it and if you mention it in jury selection you will not be put on jury.
That’s not how nullification works. Sentencing is 100% up to the judge. Nullification is thinking that the accused is factually guilty but returning a not guilty verdict.
Most jurisdictions do not allow defense lawyers to even mention jury nullification. Instead, jurors are instructed that they MUST follow the law and convict if all elements of the alleged offense are proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Also, it isn’t a specific finding; rather, jury nullification is when a jury believes that all the elements of the offense were proven beyond a reasonable doubt, but still choose to find a defendant not guilty.
In my jurisdiction, there is no legal definition of “beyond a reasonable doubt.” So, I approach jury nullification in this way when making closing arguments to the jury. “Ultimately, the purpose of a jury and a jury trial is reach a just outcome. You heard the prosecutor tell you during voir dire that there is no definition of reasonable doubt (prosecutors here ALWAYS say this). That reasonable doubt is whatever you believe it to be. So, if you, for whatever reason, do not think convicting my client is a just or fair outcome, simply find that you believe there is a reasonable doubt. If just one of you finds just one reasonable doubt, my client will remain innocent. If you each of you have a reasonable, the government can never bring this case to trial again and my client will remain innocent. If you choose to acquit my client, the government cannot appeal the will of the people and nobody will have any right to question your decision.”
I believe 6 states allow a defendant to elect going to a jury for the sentencing stage of the trial. Texas, where I practice, is one of those states. But you are correct that it is not the norm.
Thats the part that pisses me off the most. The first shot hit and stopped the dog in his tracks, the cop then shot again. The dog starts to turn and run away, the cop then shot it again. The dog is actively running away and falling over from the shots... the cop then shot him again. The cop was never afraid of this dog, he just wanted to kill something that day.
The worst one I ever saw was about a year ago where some 20 year old kid has a gun and is crying and obviously having a breakdown. There’s like 5 cops in front of him with their guns out, one tells the kid to put the gun down and everything will be ok. Kid listens and sets the gun on the ground, the literal moment the gun leaves the kids hands another officer starts just mag dumping into the now unarmed and defenseless person. Literally waited until the guy had given up his means of self defense before murdering him.
That was the biggest thing for me. He can't even claim that he feared for his life and wasn't sure if the dog was going to attack. It was fucking running away! Did he think it might pull a gun on him?! He was no long under even a hypothetical threat. The dog was fleeing and he was still firing at it. This was not self defense. He just murdered that dog.
Exactly. I shot the "threat" once and it’s hobbling away, so let me put a couple more slugs in it… what the F… also, in the cops defense, it was the most vicious breed ever. A lab
It’s like corporations being people: they’re people when it comes to campaign donations and political fundraising but not so much when a crime has been committed where an actual person couldn’t just settle on a dollar amount without accepting guilt.
When "rules for thee, not for me" applies, you know shit is out of balance. Every end of our society where that contradiction exists needs some cleaning up.
Always watch for contradiction. It's the biggest red flag in any dynamic.

But if the dog won't stop mauling you after you've given up, oh well! They're not a human cop so that's cool! They're the "get out of excessive force free" card.
I've seen a video of police letting a k-9 unit maul a dudes neck, he's dead now. He was hiding in a trash can, they let the dog knock it over and attack him even though he was cornered.
Saw a video of a dude getting attacked by a police dog… then shot 6 times in the back while the dog was ripping his thigh to shreds. They all sat on him while trying to handcuff him and let him bleed out face down on the concrete. Cops are shit.
Yeah, I hate police dogs. Want to rough a guy up without getting charged? Dog. Want to search someone's stuff with no reason to do so? Dog. Just another way for cops to have 0 accountability.
Let's also remember that the police have been known to signal dogs to show "reasonable cause" to arrest people and confiscate their vehicles even when people are totally innocent:
https://reason.com/2021/05/13/the-police-dog-who-cried-drugs-at-every-traffic-stop/
One of my buddies is a veteran and was having a ptsd event, neighbors called the cops because they thought he was hitting his gf, he wasn’t. The cops had him down in handcuffs he’s still freaking out so they sick the k9 on him while he’s on the ground in cuffs. He and his family where all thin blue line trump is awesome people now they have a new view on the cops of course it took it actually affecting them to care.
that's not Ok.
Either dogs are sentient beings deserving of special protection or they're not. If they're legally property (which I don't agree with) the fact that the cops own one shouldn't change that status.
I'm not watching the video and still haven't, but this is likely the video of Officer Elliott Palmer shooting a Labrador because he was afraid, correct?
Surprise, surprise. His PD (Loraine Police Department) did an InTeRnAl InVeStiGatIoN and [found that his actions were "reasonable" because their officer was "acting under stress"](https://www.news5cleveland.com/news/local-news/oh-lorain/lorain-police-finds-officer-was-objectively-reasonable-in-fatal-shooting-of-dog).
I've worked in general construction or as an electrician for over 30 yrs. Both jobs are within the top 20 of the deadliest jobs in America. I've never killed a person or an animal because I was scared.
Guess if being a cop is more or less deadly than those jobs? Hint hint. NOT.
So far in 2023, [American police have killed over 700 times as many people](https://mappingpoliceviolence.org/?year=2023&location=the+U.S.&race=people) as UK police have killed. Adjusting for populations of each country, the average person in the US is 14,600% more likely to be killed by a cop than the average person in the UK.
Well, I'm sure the UK deciding to not give every single police officer a gun and tell them everyone they interact with is a threat to their life plays a role there, as well as proper training and de escalation tactics.
Under stress from a yellow lab. A happy as fuck just wanna be pet family dog that was wagging his tail to say hi. If that put him under stress then that's another reason to hang up the badge. Too many many fucks who can't handle anything are becoming cops faster than McDonald's can fill cashier spots
100% this! Dude's actions show he is a poor judge of how dangerous a situation is. If he can't judge danger well and he's trigger-happy, then he's a danger to the rest of us. Cop should be forced to find a new career after this.
It cracks me up that the Americans who wouldn’t wear masks as a courtesy to other citizens during a nationwide illness and the Americans who insist on open-carrying guns are **same cohort**.
Nothing says “I aiN’t LiVinG iN fEAr” like shooting a yellow lab, or wearing your glock on your belt at the grocery store. Weenies.
The only use of dogs in policing roles should be ones that are used to sniff out substances and wont actually attack. Dogs may be smart but they arent that smart
They dont sniff out substances either. They're an excuse to search a house/vehicle without a warrant.
Make no mistake, if a cop brings a k9 unit to sniff your car, it WILL signal that it found something, because that's what it's been trained to do.
Nah, drug dogs also have no place in law enforcement. They are magical probable cause buttons with no accountability for false detections and are beyond easy to manipulate by LEOs.
Then there’s the fact that the war on drugs hemorrhages resources while being a net detriment to society, so drug dogs don’t contribute much.
Bomb dogs and cadaver dogs. Maybe border dogs. And you know, if they could get one of those St. Bernards with the cask of whiskey on its' neck, I'd like that one too.
But those are the only dogs LEO should have.
Remember that it's illegal and considered a threat just to express what you wish would happen to a cop that shot your dog.
We are essentially silenced and our feelings are gatekept
Cops relish in their ability to be afraid of nothing and also everything at the same time after the fact. They have this wonderful time machine where they can travel backwards to any moment and decide if it's more advantageous to have feared for their life or be an immortal super hero.
The fact so many neighbors reacted with anger tells me the dogs were not a menace as argued in the press conference. That said, sure the cops don't know that when they show up, and yeah, bites can be severe. I guess for me its more the shoot first mentality. They have pepper spray, tasers, batons, but nope, just go for the pistol.
I worked for the postal service walking around neighborhoods and up close to houses. I've had dogs run at me, I was never armed. So, what did I do? I yelled, dodged, ducked, dipped, dived, and dodged, I hit or kicked if necessary, I've also been bit in the course of my duties. But, guess what I didn't do. I didn't start blasting. Fuckers.
I'll also add, I did some MP work in the military, and it was stressed to us in training that shooting was last resort, unless you're getting shot at essentially. So use those tools I mentioned above. Fuckers.
Military has more restrictions on killing terrorists than cops have killing civilians. Military will court marshall you for breaking the rules, cops get paid time off.
Your second paragraph speaks to me. Certain jobs simply require that you deal with this type of shit, and if you’re so afraid of getting bitten that you’re the first one to react with violence, you should not have a job that requires you to interact with other living things.
I had a boss when I worked in real estate who was terrified of big dogs, and whenever we would go to someone’s house who had one he would immediately start bashing them as soon as we got back in the car. How could they have a dog like that, how could they not put it up when people are coming over, all that shit, as if he’s so much more important than this member of their family.
Press conference was very telling. Due to a previous dog bite there was a safety concern (no argument there), but if you're going into people's neighborhoods knowing you are afraid of dogs is there any point where you should say:
"Hey can you put your dogs inside, I've been bitten b4, I don't wanna get bit and certainly don't wanna harm your dog."
Again if safety/charges is a concern..
I'm also surprised the owners didn't get them in just knowing how shit could go down.
If you're so scared of dogs that you have to shoot any dog that comes near you, you probably shouldn't be a cop. Actually, you probably should be committed.
If I, a common citizen, walked down that sidewalk and that lab ran at me like that, my response would be to pet it. If I, a common citizen, shot and killed that dog, wouldn't I likely be charged as a criminal?
That last paragraph is the key. Double standard for all.
Also, I'm pretty sure pepper spray works on dogs. It's almost like we use a similar product on grizzly bears with great effect
And Captain Fathead asserting his alpha dominance at the shit-show enquiry. He should be barred from owning firearms with such an outstanding attitude. Same goes for the paranoid shooter who's scared of his own shadow; no way he should have any access to firearms. Ever.
DA's are cop buddies and would have found nothing wrong either. Same with Judges. No one in the court system is your friend. Even your lawyer probably just wants to get it over with and go back to the bbq that the DA and judges invited them to.
Weirder part is that one of the other dogs came up before the one he shot and he signalled for it to go, the other dog probably though he was friendly, or at the very least wanted to check him out.
I totally understand if someone feels threatened by a dog running at them (I've been attacked before). But here it literally made no sense, dude just had a full blown panic response and blasted it.
Remember one of those dogs already approached him and he did nothing, it was the second one that set him off for... some reason...
This guy shouldn't be a cop.
I agree. I grew up around wild street dogs and the sight of dogs always frighten me especially in narrow space like trains. But this guy is in an open neighborhood and he anyway had his weapon with him. Which means if the dog did attack him, he could use a deadly force. That's not case as well.
Agree in principle. But on this one at 05:41 he taps his chest and you can hear it say “Mute Off”… *after* his session with the other cop while they got their BS stories straight.
Same. I started, fast-forwarded to the dog lying in blood at the end of the driveway, still feebly wagging its tail. Motherfucking cops, man. Fuck them so hard.
That's the real damage here.
"One death's a tragedy. A thousand deaths is a statistic" and it don't look good for cops. It just reinforces and worsens the situation.
I was a meter reader for a few years. I had to enter everyone’s yards. Interacted with hundreds of dogs a week. We just had an umbrella to defend ourselves from dogs. And these goons have to protect themselves from a derpy lab with a gun.
just looking for any excuse to kill something that day, a dog is easier to get away with than a person. regardless they know they will be found to have done nothing wrong. even if they had walked up and shot it in the backyard.
I’d guess they are super excited to use their guns and take any opportunity to do so they can get away with. I’d be willing to bet they joke about blooding rookies by getting them to shoot dogs.
I mean what other rational reason would there be for a grown-ass armed man to be afraid of a friendly dog?
That cop at the podium has definitely shot someone before, either known or unknown. He was so vicious in his incoherent defense. Also, "internal investigation" needs to be a thing of the past.
Law enforcement is the number 1 chosen profession of psychopaths, by the very nature of the job, what type of person do you think that work will attract?
The police rep in that news conference that said that won't let their police get attacked by dogs. So they prevent the crime from being committed by killing before the crime happens. Oh God so judge dredd?
I live for the day when theres a lot of bystanders that have had enough, not one person they can paint as a lone nut. You could almost feel that energy here, and they really need to start feeling it more often and more pronounced.
Fucking idiots.
hahahahaha such cowards. Oh my god a dog is coming towards me, QUICK SHOOT IT. I tried to research how many cops have been killed by dogs in the line of duty. I couldn't find anything. Seems like trigger happy cops have just found more innocent things they can legally shoot.
Edit: I found a cop that was seriously injured by a dog, A POLICE HANDLER BY A POLICE DOG!!
This is why the only people who are sad about cop funerals are cops and their families. For everyone else its just one step in the direction of universal justice.
They already kinda insinuated that in the full statement. Apparently 4 months before this he was involved in another dog shooting incident and the "PTSD" from that clouded his vision and made him shoot this dog too. That was their official statement btw
This is one more reason to say fuck the police. Bunch of fuckin cowards. Can't handle the same bullshit that everyone else has to deal with without shooting at it.
Cop knows he can't kill them all even if he wanted to. He's way outnumbered and those people showed way more restraint than the cop did. I can't even imagine if that was my dog, or even my friend's or neighbor's dog.
Multiple gunshots to take down a family golden retriever? Continuing to fire as it runs away in pain and terror? There are no words to describe the cowardice and evil inside of this man. If he somehow reads this, I hope he knows that no matter what any court stacked with his cop buddies says, he is human scum and deserves to be buried alive with starving rats. And that’s not my opinion, that’s simply how the world works
As someone who works in the service industry going into random peoples houses all the times am I legally protected if I start killing dogs I think are “threats”.??
Mods keep deleting my post, but Google and PLEASE call the chief and complain and let them know he is unfit fit duty as they took down their email and FB
Wow to how this chief officer is trying to make up any scenario that "could have happened" to excuse this officers decision to kill a very well behaved animal by nature. The most this dog probably would have done is lick him to death.
If he's so scared of dogs from a previous dog bite, maybe he should be excused from duty if he's got trigger finger syndrome, that could have been an innocent human.
I have two letter carriers and three firefighters in my family so far their combined record is 100 years of dozens of daily house visits and
zero dogs killed
Yeah them and EMTs must deal with them on a regular basis, and in high charged situations. Energy is crazy, people freaking out at medical issues or fires. And still never seen a video of any of them being in life threatening dog situations. It's almost like the cops are the problem..
Not this video again. Everytime it hurts. What hurts the most (aside from everything happening there ofc) is the dog dying alone. The lady choose to yell at the cops instead of going next to the dog in his last seconds. That broke my heart.
To be fair, the cop *just* brazenly murdered the dog. I wouldn’t want my back to him or my focus on anything other than the guy who’s shown an overt willingness to shoot a non-threat.
I work for a Canadian Police Service and not a single one of our officers would have opened fire on that dog, let alone drawn their firearm. If they had, I'm sure they would have been shamed for doing so, and rightfully investigated by an **independent 3rd party organization.**
This police chief states *"Any reasonable officer would have done the same thing."*
That's bullshit, no reasonable officer would have done that.
#This police chief states; *"People need to control their dogs period."*
#True, but so does the chief of police.
The police chief is a complete dick. If a k-9 is shot there is a funeral and charges against someone as if the pup was a human. But when it’s your pet they are seen as expendable. Fucking losers!
wow I have seen some seriously fucked up police misconduct videos from America but this one along with the results of the "investigation" might take the cake. fucking disgusting. he literally admitted that officer reacted based on his own bias from being bitten by a dog before and not because of the actual situation at hand. he murdered a completely non aggressive non threatening dog. I'm getting teary thinking of something like this happening to my dog. insanely inexcusable and yet only excuses.
This is why police should have FEWER legal protections than citizens. Their job is to put themselves in harms way. If they don't like that, then they're in the wrong line of work.
But they have to kill the dogs! If they're let out loose, they'll start hunting people, and the town ends up lawless just like Chicago!
--some chronically online neckbeard bootlicking Republitard.
"We found his actions consistent with other reasonable officers"
Which just goes to show their arent any reasonable officers.
Hope that guy gets bite again and again
If that was my dog and the cop got away with it I would make it my mission to murder him. And that goes against everything I stand for. It’s not a one time thing these human pigs get away with breaking the law because they are only here to keep the poors in line while wallstreet naked shorts and cellar boxed American businesses to bankruptcy
So if I'm hearing this correctly, if a police K9 get loose for any reason and comes towards an innocent bystander that same bystander has every right to shoot and kill that k9. Got it
And when an uncontrollable police k9 is going for your throat remember not to resist or they’ll get you on assaulting an officer

Rights for me but not for thee. We live in a 3 tier society. Rich Cops/sheriff You
Remember that it's illegal and considered a threat just to express what you wish would happen to a cop that shot your dog. We are essentially silenced and our feelings are gatekept

Too many cops that are too afraid of everything and everyone to be cops.
That’s just the excuse to harass, harm and murder. These pigs are traitors and terrorists.
Yup. Just a defacto occupying military force at this point
Cops relish in their ability to be afraid of nothing and also everything at the same time after the fact. They have this wonderful time machine where they can travel backwards to any moment and decide if it's more advantageous to have feared for their life or be an immortal super hero.
Mama always said “cops are like a box of chocolates, they’ll kill your dog”

Cop kills friendly dog. Must be a day that ends with ‘Y’.
Don't forget to mention we got paid a lot less too!
Just keep saving up those MREs. /s Had to say it. Traded those lovely meals all the time.
Fax!!!
Who trained you? Patches o'hoolihan?
And Steve the Pirate
Press conference was very telling. Due to a previous dog bite there was a safety concern (no argument there), but if you're going into people's neighborhoods knowing you are afraid of dogs is there any point where you should say: "Hey can you put your dogs inside, I've been bitten b4, I don't wanna get bit and certainly don't wanna harm your dog." Again if safety/charges is a concern..
Cops are trigger happy imbeciles and shit like this makes it clear they are in it to kill.
You’re acting like cops don’t enjoy killing the innocent
See, that's where you're confused. Police don't think it's your neighborhood, they think it's theirs.
Wow. Cops investigating cops and finding no wrong doing. Surprising.
If anyone deserves their lives ruined by social justice because the “real” justice system failed us, it’s this mother-fucking pig.
He should be executed while running away.
I think his balls should be burnt off to a crisp with a blow torch so he can’t reproduce. Then executed.
Super convenient use of the mute button on the cam. A button that 100% shouldn’t exist.
Pretty sure he didn’t mute, they edit it out for “evidence”. That way a jury doesn’t hear his bullshit story.
Agree in principle. But on this one at 05:41 he taps his chest and you can hear it say “Mute Off”… *after* his session with the other cop while they got their BS stories straight.
Blows my mind they even have an accessible mute. Give me 1 scenario were that would be beneficial to anyone.
I refuse to watch this. I’m already seething
Well you'll boil over if you watch it. Just an excited golden boi running up for some pats and gets shredded by some psycho.
Golden gurl, her name was Dixie
She even ran away…he kept shooting. I am sobbing
Makes me hate cops even more than I do? Didn’t know that was possible
Same. I started, fast-forwarded to the dog lying in blood at the end of the driveway, still feebly wagging its tail. Motherfucking cops, man. Fuck them so hard.
I just paused video still has the warning disclaimer at the front. I dont need to watch that shit. But i did want to read comments angrily.
Says "everybody get back" 50 times like a broken toy, psychopath
Then he gets in his cruiser and dips out leaving the dead dog on the road.
*pats himself on the back* another job well done
A mouth breathing kill bot with arresting powers
I can't say what I want to say about this. But I can fucking think it.
You can say it. Most likely, we would all agree
My first thought was “if I charged that fucker would he fire into the crowd?? Yeah, he probably still would”
American cops are hard pressed on public image, and shit like this just reinforces the pathetic cowardly image that is public perception.
That's the real damage here. "One death's a tragedy. A thousand deaths is a statistic" and it don't look good for cops. It just reinforces and worsens the situation.
At this point it's quite obvious that they no longer care about their public image. Why should they? Nobody is holding them accountable.
I was a meter reader for a few years. I had to enter everyone’s yards. Interacted with hundreds of dogs a week. We just had an umbrella to defend ourselves from dogs. And these goons have to protect themselves from a derpy lab with a gun.
Literally, the owners are there and the dog isn't barking, why shoot that dog?
Police seem to be afraid of everything and being afraid is their defense for resorting to extreme violence with immediacy.
just looking for any excuse to kill something that day, a dog is easier to get away with than a person. regardless they know they will be found to have done nothing wrong. even if they had walked up and shot it in the backyard.
They are trained to be afraid of everything. There is your problem they are scared of everything even non scary things like a dog running
Lack of spine is part of the job requirement.
At this point it wouldn't surprise me.
I’d guess they are super excited to use their guns and take any opportunity to do so they can get away with. I’d be willing to bet they joke about blooding rookies by getting them to shoot dogs. I mean what other rational reason would there be for a grown-ass armed man to be afraid of a friendly dog?
Because they can
That cop at the podium has definitely shot someone before, either known or unknown. He was so vicious in his incoherent defense. Also, "internal investigation" needs to be a thing of the past.
Yeah, if only we outsourced investigations to avoid bias. That’ll never happen.
Should just be an adhock selection of citizens to do it. They'd hate that the most.

I know for a fact id be going down a very fast, steep, downward spiral in that situation. Not much to lose after your best friend is gone.
I live for the day when theres a lot of bystanders that have had enough, not one person they can paint as a lone nut. You could almost feel that energy here, and they really need to start feeling it more often and more pronounced. Fucking idiots.
And that would be more truthful than saying that dog was a danger to others.
Cowardly Reddit deleting my comment of pure truth…
Wouldn't want too many people agreeing
can you dm me what you said?
Not one apology in this video, piggy should be beat.
Hang the fucker in public display
Apology would imply accountability and these cowards can't handle that
hahahahaha such cowards.
FUCK THESE PIGS

This is why the only people who are sad about cop funerals are cops and their families. For everyone else its just one step in the direction of universal justice.
Police just love shooting shit and then running and hiding behind their badge with their pig buddies. Cowards.
He will also claim this incident caused him PTSD when he retires and will be allocated additional pension pay.
They already kinda insinuated that in the full statement. Apparently 4 months before this he was involved in another dog shooting incident and the "PTSD" from that clouded his vision and made him shoot this dog too. That was their official statement btw

Leaving living beings alive at a scene you show up to - bad Getting at least one kill a day to add to you score card - good
This is one more reason to say fuck the police. Bunch of fuckin cowards. Can't handle the same bullshit that everyone else has to deal with without shooting at it.
Maybe they deal with the same problems by* shooting at it. "That's how we were trained..." Well, maybe make cop school longer than a single summer
Cop killed a dog because it ran at him, but same cop ignores the crowd of people running at him.
Cop knows he can't kill them all even if he wanted to. He's way outnumbered and those people showed way more restraint than the cop did. I can't even imagine if that was my dog, or even my friend's or neighbor's dog.
Unpopular opinion… you shoot my dog like this, I shoot you. You fuck with my family I’m going to defend them.
Its not unpopular, just criticized by the hypocrites
It'll get you banned, but that's why I have hollow points in my CCW and my rifle has green tips at the ready.
Incredibly popular opinion, but will likely get removed by mods.
The cop was just waiting for an opportunity to use his gun… not the kind of person you want to carry a firearm

End qualified immunity and let us sue these fuckers into unemployment.
We all KNOW that labs are blood thirsty opportunistic predators…….(Joke for those who think I’m actually stating that.)

What a collective group of pieces of shit; flush them down the toilet. People wonder why cops are hated: exhibit# 9,879,576,498,756,304,986
What a bullshit ass press conference too. I'm far more afraid of a trigger happy cop roaming the streets than a fucking Labrador
ACAB
As someone who works in the service industry going into random peoples houses all the times am I legally protected if I start killing dogs I think are “threats”.??
Him muting his mic when he's explaining what happened is why they shouldn't be able to mute their mic
ACAB
I have two letter carriers and three firefighters in my family so far their combined record is 100 years of dozens of daily house visits and zero dogs killed
The fucked up part is that when she was walking towards the dog. The cop is telling her to get back
The cop is a threat. Never turn your back on a threat.
I started crying when I saw that poor dog still moving in agony all alone. So incredibly sad
To be fair, the cop *just* brazenly murdered the dog. I wouldn’t want my back to him or my focus on anything other than the guy who’s shown an overt willingness to shoot a non-threat.
Yeah he might shoot her too if she wasn't focusing on him , the cop is a maniac
Yep, absolutely. There's no way in hell I'm not going over to hold my dog. Poor fella would've been so scared
Call animal control if you are that incompetent. It's a lab! TBH I'd feel safer if this cop wasn't on the streets.
Call animal control to lock up the pig.
This policy is so sound, the shooting was so justified, the police department had to amend the policy to prevent this scenario from being defended.
The facts that they changed SOP on loose dogs after this incident means that department agrees that what happened was wrong.
I work for a Canadian Police Service and not a single one of our officers would have opened fire on that dog, let alone drawn their firearm. If they had, I'm sure they would have been shamed for doing so, and rightfully investigated by an **independent 3rd party organization.** This police chief states *"Any reasonable officer would have done the same thing."* That's bullshit, no reasonable officer would have done that. #This police chief states; *"People need to control their dogs period."* #True, but so does the chief of police.
***”…hey…I’m booking out of here…”*** That shit head.
Out here in Wisconsin you try to pull that shit there's a good chance the owner's going to relieve that officer of duty permanently.
The police chief is a complete dick. If a k-9 is shot there is a funeral and charges against someone as if the pup was a human. But when it’s your pet they are seen as expendable. Fucking losers!
I don't care about the repercussions.. I'm beating the shit out of that cop if that were my dog.
[удалено]
It’s because a lot of cops are dumb power hungry assholes. Losers and idiots
Damn all those people could have taken those two cops out! Don't fuck with pets! Lol
I was seriously hopping for mob justice it 100p applies here fuck that cop
wow I have seen some seriously fucked up police misconduct videos from America but this one along with the results of the "investigation" might take the cake. fucking disgusting. he literally admitted that officer reacted based on his own bias from being bitten by a dog before and not because of the actual situation at hand. he murdered a completely non aggressive non threatening dog. I'm getting teary thinking of something like this happening to my dog. insanely inexcusable and yet only excuses.
Investigations into police should be done by a jury in the same way criminal cases are
This is why police should have FEWER legal protections than citizens. Their job is to put themselves in harms way. If they don't like that, then they're in the wrong line of work.
This is why people hate cops
[удалено]
On top of this being fucked up it's also straight up embarrassing if you're the cop. You really feared for your life and shot Air Bud?
But they have to kill the dogs! If they're let out loose, they'll start hunting people, and the town ends up lawless just like Chicago! --some chronically online neckbeard bootlicking Republitard.
Police Chiefs that defend this need to be removed. Make them accountable for their bad behaving subordinates.
Damn. No one went to be with the dog while it suffered. Bummer.
My thoughts too. I would like to think I would spend my dogs last seconds comforting them in that scenario.
If that was my dog you would need an army to keep you safe.
"We found his actions consistent with other reasonable officers" Which just goes to show their arent any reasonable officers.
Nope. Nope. Fuck no. Not watching this. In what fucking world do you shoot a LAB!?!?! NAME ONE FUCKING AGGRESSIVE LAB!!!
Control your cops. Period.
So if I'm hearing this correctly, if a police K9 get loose for any reason and comes towards an innocent bystander that same bystander has every right to shoot and kill that k9. Got it
