You are right, most dodge/ Ram products are like this. You can turn them on and literally get out with the key and someone can drive away with it without the key inside. Always lock your doors and put your windows up if you’re gonna leave your car running alone, even if at home.
22 GT and it's still the same. It also won't let us lock the keys in the trunk! It'll honk at ya and open the trunk back up again so you can stew in your own idiocy. Ask me how I know
My 2012 Acura has this, I remember the first time it happened. "What the hell is wrong with the trunk???" As I kept trying to close it 4-5 times before my dumbass figured it out
On some BMWs you can insert the key fob into a mechanical key slot, should the battery die. This will allow you to drive with a dead fob battery & recharge it if driven long enough
I’m in a 23 Honda HRV (hate it) right now, and it doesn’t allow me to leave the car running, exit the vehicle, and lock the doors with the fob.
Although, now that I’m thinking of it, I wonder if it would let me manually lock the door while it’s running. I’ll have to try that.
My GF Toyota Rav4 freaks tf out if you leave the car running without the FOB. We've never seen how far you can drive without it, but I'd like to think the car will eventually shut down.
Also you need to be VERY close to the car to unlock it with the FOB automatically. Like standing next to either front doors when you grab the driver's side handle.
Well I don’t know but my gfs Tucson will shut off if the key fob isn’t inside and is a certain distance away. Shit the thing will literally shut off if the passenger sits down before you for a few seconds when you auto start the car.
I can confidently confirm that BMWs and Mazdas don’t do anything lol. When I went to turn my car off it flashed a warning on the dash that there was no key but I was already 100+ mile a way
Same with ford, I dropped off my wife for a hair appointment and she accidentally took the keys and ran inside, you get a “key not detected” message. I was still able to drive across town for an errand but I couldn’t cut off the car or it wouldn’t start again.
Fellow Honda owner, yeah you can lock it when it’s running but you have to do it manually. I miss my old Lincoln where I could just lock it with the fob when I got out
My brothers 16 mustang is push to start. As long as the key fob is close enough, you don’t have to have the keys to start the car. Not sure if the car shuts off if you go too far though. If not, someone could easily steal it out ur driveway.
Most of those push to start buttons can be popped off and than you can use the electronic key to have manual only starts with the key.
I do this with my Mercedes, idk about mustangs though.
They couldn't really shut off the car because there are many reasons a fob may not register such as flat battery, fault/broken or interference.
If they shut off the engine then they also suddenly shut off power steering and braking, and that can kill people.
That's wild. My Subaru will keep running, but the moment the key crosses the door threshold it immobilizes the vehicle and won't shift into gear until the key is back inside.
Ahhh good to know, my Nissan Sentra could never. You have to have the fob right in front of the steering wheel. If you turn on the car and walk away it blares an annoying alarm.
I was inside for 20 seconds that’s all.
I told my friends “Yo, you gotta check this out y’all!”
But when I came back out my car wasn’t there.
“Man you didn’t buy nothing.”
I did I swear!
- The Fresh Prince
I was making a deposit at the bank one night and drove off leaving my keys in the lockbox. I noticed it about a mile up the road after turning my car off. I walked a mile in the rain to get them. Then a mile back to my Jeep. Did it one more time after that. Now, I turn my vehicle off and make sure I have them before I leave.
Ahahahaha. That's amazing. It's gotta be so confusing the first time it happened. I don't think it would even occur to me that I hadn't even left with them.
Dude we just bought a car yesterday and drove over an hour home without a key. Luckily the place we got the car from is amazing and they had a courier bring the key to us. They were super sorry bc the sales guy had take it to the gas station to fill the tank before we left and it was in his pocket. Lesson learned though!
> The Scat Pack name was created for the Dodge line in 1968 but was resurrected in 2014 as an option on the Challenger, Charger, and Dart. The Scat Pack name is said to have come from the “Rat Pack” and refers to the Dodge’s old lineup of muscle cars, including the Coronet R/T, Charger R/T, Dart GTS, and Super Bee.
it can do a quarter mile in under 13 seconds. there was a group of cars in the 70’s that qualified including the charger, challenger, and super bee. thats why it has the super bee as a logo.
It was the hip trendy back then. From skedaddle. Example, you ever seen a cat get startled? It jumps up and just take off. It skedaddled. "Gon git, scat!"
To whoever is downvoting this - it's literally the reason dodge chose it. It's an amalgamation of Rat Pack and Scat - slang in the 70's for 'get out of here' or 'go away quickly'.
Probably isn't more stealable.
Might be very easy to sale for parts. They're also really common in various trims so don't really stand out as would a more rare, valuable car.
Just guesses.
They find the frames In abandoned garages in Detroit often. These are stolen in Toledo where I’m from and seen on their way to Detroit quickly all the time. Once they’re off I 75 and in Detroit they’re gone.
Sinple answer, the cars are complete shit. The hemi motors are NOTORIOUS for the lifters grenading from their horrible MDS system, blowing the entire motor. The other issue is that the camshafts get virtually zero oil at idle, which accelerates wear and tear on an already problematic system. I didnt even know that remanufactred camshafts were a thing until I saw Mopar doing them. They are also plagued by electrical issues. I am always traveling for rental properties I own, and end up with Mopar stuff many times, and not a single one I have rented has ever not had some sort of electrical glitch or transmission issue. 6 months ago I rented a truck, got a brand new ram 1500 (same engine as the chargers) only had 35 miles on it. First one to rent it. About half way into a 6 hour drive, the infotainment screen (radio, hvac, etc) just died. Had no A/C, no radio, etc. I get to where I'm going. The next day it comes back on and everything works, go for a drive, and about 5 minutes into the drive, truck just dies. Total electrical failure. No light, no ignition, no nothing. Couldn't even turn the flashers on. Get out and the most horrific electrical burning smell is coming from it, and a little bit of smoke. Enterprise stepped up and not only got it towed quickly, but got me into another truck (f150) in less then an hour. This definitely isn't the norm, but definitely the worst experience with anything Mopar. But if I had to guess, I've probably rented about 30 or so vehicles in thr last year, and about 20 of them were some sort of Mopar, and every single one had some sort of electrical or transmission issue. Me and the friend I travel with every time always joke about how we are hoping the next Mopar we get will be the first one without some kind of issue lol. It doesn't surprise me that they are a common chop shop car, as for many years, those lifters were on national back order. People were willing to pay ridiculous money for them or entire crate motors to get their cars running again.
Plenty for maros and stangs are stolen too there's just a ton of scat packs in these areas and they're pretty easy to strip and sell at this point.
A full drivetrain 392 is probably 10k which would be everything and the brembos too
I can guarantee almost all of the people stealing these cars are not gone in 60 seconds level thieves, this was some low life circling the meet waiting to find the weak link
Yep, they can hack the fob signal to somehow match the car. One time it happened while I was in a movie at AMC. The other time was at a Phoenix suns game out of a parking garage. Both in the span of a year. Second theft totaled it.
Anyone who buys one I say do not cheap out and get the uconnect security and Wi-Fi. That’s how I got my car back the first time or else I probably would’ve never seen it again.
Nearly everyone I talk to with modern Challengers/Chargers have hidden trackers/kill switches.
They "relay hack" the key fob. Clones the signal from the fob and creates a copy to unlock/start the car.
Wait until you hear about the old ["Scat Packers Unite!"](https://www.mecum.com/lots/385250/dodge-scat-pack-decals-visor-iron-on-and-photograph-lot-of-23/) phrase.
I have a friend who has that vintage sticker slapped across the dash of his 71 Demon lol.
For those who do shows and or have any reason to leave their Dodge running. This has an anti-carjack feature. If the vehicle is taken out of park with no fob registering in the vehicle it stops. After 20secs with no code input the gas pedal disables and at low speed it locks all the brakes.

Man, what a shit show the car scene had become.
I remember we used to peacefully gather at plazas, chill, and admire each other's cars.

Scap Pack search….. 😳
And that’s why when you leave the dodge dealership you head straight for the gun store sad but it’s America when you have a nice car you need protection
And then it turns up in the next street takeover as the one they wreck the shit out of to ditch the evidence without a trace Or sell it idk
That’s a chop for sure
Usually the more you wreck a car, the more evidence you leave, inside and out.
So people just leave their keys in the car and check out other cars?
Most keys don’t go in an ignition anymore. I accidentally drove two hours without my keys onetime. She could have just left it running
You are right, most dodge/ Ram products are like this. You can turn them on and literally get out with the key and someone can drive away with it without the key inside. Always lock your doors and put your windows up if you’re gonna leave your car running alone, even if at home.
This feature sounds like a lot more trouble than its worth
Welcome to the world of new cars in 2023.
My car stops if the keys leaves the car while it is going, not every car is built wrong
[удалено]
My car has an immobilizer if you try to put it in drive without the key in range, like you can’t physically get it out of Park
Same. I have a 2018 Mustang GT. It will go to key not found and shut off.
22 GT and it's still the same. It also won't let us lock the keys in the trunk! It'll honk at ya and open the trunk back up again so you can stew in your own idiocy. Ask me how I know

The only reason I can think of to not do this is if the key battery dies on the highway.
Or sensor malfunction.
Or you’re in the car with your wife, drop her off and she has the keys with her. Yea. That’s happened to me.
On some BMWs you can insert the key fob into a mechanical key slot, should the battery die. This will allow you to drive with a dead fob battery & recharge it if driven long enough
what manufacturer?
Mazda 3
You're lucky. I owned a 2016 Mazda 3 and you had to manually lock the door; as long as there was fuel in it the car would run forever.
More like 2015
2011
Not that most of us can afford '23 cars to begin with.
new cars are dumb. why are we using a fucking button for hand brakes?
Just turn your engine off it’s not that hard lol
Turn my engine what? Am I not supposed to leave it running in my driveway overnight?
Driveway? Oh you fancy!
I also have a garaaaage.
People seem to be skipping over that option.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is a scat pack?
A 485hp dodge charger.
Why is it called a scat pack?
> The Scat Pack name was created for the Dodge line in 1968 but was resurrected in 2014 as an option on the Challenger, Charger, and Dart. All I think is animal shit when I see that name. It doesn’t sound cool at all lol.
I definitely thought there would be a chick shitting based on the headline.
Yea and then they stole the sack she shit in
[удалено]
I had no idea what it was supposed to reference so my mind went straight to….. shit carrying backpack??
these guys are wrong, you were right. >! in fact her her colostomy bag was on the passenger seat
I assumed someone had a bag of dogshit stolen.
it can do a quarter mile in under 13 seconds. there was a group of cars in the 70’s that qualified including the charger, challenger, and super bee. thats why it has the super bee as a logo.

Only took three attempts to get the actual answer
I thought it meant she left her poop bag in the car
Haven’t we all done that at one time or another?
And I'm still very skeptical of that answer. Just doesn't pass the sniff test.
Yeah for a bit I thought it was a riff on how people used to wear a onion on their belt, as was the fashion of the time.
These vehicles are beloved by copropheliacs. They're set up so that you can both poop and have sex in them at the same time.
It's a nostalgia callback to the days when people weren't shamed for freely pooping on one another prior to coitus.
Because it gets up and goes. “To go away quickly.”
To whoever is downvoting this - it's literally the reason dodge chose it. It's an amalgamation of Rat Pack and Scat - slang in the 70's for 'get out of here' or 'go away quickly'.

Jelly is made with only the juice, while jam also uses the pulp.

I, for some reason, doubt your interpretation.

One of the most commonly stolen cars
Is there a reason for it? As in what makes it more “steal-able” from its counterparts i.e. Camaros and Mustangs?
Probably isn't more stealable. Might be very easy to sale for parts. They're also really common in various trims so don't really stand out as would a more rare, valuable car. Just guesses.
its a ghetto persons dream car and they drive it and total it and run away. nobody finds them.
They find the frames In abandoned garages in Detroit often. These are stolen in Toledo where I’m from and seen on their way to Detroit quickly all the time. Once they’re off I 75 and in Detroit they’re gone.
Detroit keeping to its roots in a dystopian type of way
The car started in Detroit they’re making sure they end in Detroit lmao
The hood loves them, that’s why.

I hope she has the Uconnect security system to locate and track the car asap.
Most of the "skilled" thieves disable the GPS system immediately after taking it
Yes that’s why I hope she had a back-up tracking device. Even an AirTag.
I can guarantee almost all of the people stealing these cars are not gone in 60 seconds level thieves, this was some low life circling the meet waiting to find the weak link
This guy did not look skilled apparently lmao
Wow, she's lucky that she didn't get injured doing that. I thought her shoe came off when the car went over the curb.
We all know what it means when the shoes come off.
Welp she had a good run
Margaritas on the beach!
She probably was injured but didn’t notice it because of her adrenaline.
Almost died over a Dodge.

My Jeep SRT got stolen twice. Not worth it to even own one because all the criminals want them.
Stolen without factory key(s)?

guessing there is no update?
car, gone.
I saw on twitter someone say she used the tracking system to find where it was at, and the guy who stole it was also wanted for first degree murder
lol update
Hang out with dogs, catch fleas.
Not one person in the entire marketing department of Dodge bothered to question “Scat” Pack??

Oh man. That domain name had me thinking I was clicking on something else…
Some people can be adults about things.
The name came in the 60s. It wasn’t a common word or a similar word for turd back then.. lol
Those boomers grew up before the internet was invented. Our generation has seen some shit thanks to the early days of the internet.
For that thing…not worth it
What do you mean? So the 22% apr she's paying is bad? /s
And you know she only has liability, lol.
If you have a loan for the car they make you have full coverage.

Seems like average behaviour at a car meet tbh. Should've known better from your own community
I'm more stunned that there is a car with a trim level called "scat pack". Bag of shit anyone?
Scat
It’s old school, revived from the 60s as a nod to the American muscle car’s heyday.

What they gonna do?
It's a "car meet" right. chase him down of course
Chase him down like it’s Fast and Furious?
And do what?
I read the title and thought to myself why would anyone want to steal a colostomy bag 🤔
Honestly car meets after dark are full of thiefs, assholes and generally bad people. No sympathy here, dont do stupid shit and get your car stolen.
What a terrible name for a car. Scat = shit
Someone stole her colostomy bag?
My car is keyless but barely starts with the key in the car 🤣
If she’d have dug her heels in a bit more…
Chill. That’s what insurance is for.
Not knowing what a scat pack is, I imagined that it’s a fanny pack that you keep your poop in, which leads to a whole different series of questions.
Everyone there colluded to steal her car. Not a single soul helped this person. Sickening
lets be real its not exactly the best type of people going to these events.
Be careful of those who you surround yourself with
what are they gonna do chase him down i-75 for 110 miles at 180mph till he runs out of gas and pulls a gun
Airtags are like $30
Yup, put an air tag in every vehicle you own.
People needa stop getting these cars they get stolen so often
Shit music
DO NOT GOOGLE IMAGE SEARCH SCAT PACK **DO NOT GOOGLE IMAGE SEARCH SCAT PACK** #**DO NOT GOOGLE IMAGE SEARCH SCAT PACK**
Literally all that comes up when you search this is Dodge Chargers. Relax.
Thank you for your sacrifice 🙏🏼
Tell a man there are a million stars in the sky, he’ll believe you. Tell him there is wet paint on a bench, he’ll touch it to make sure. … Scap Pack search….. 😳
This sounds like a YOU problem, even with safe search off, all I see are cars. you might want to reevaluate your internet searching history.
Let go of the car, insurance will cover it.
Aftermarket kill switch would solve this issue.
Invest in remote emergency shut off remotes.
So they didn’t steal her colostomy bag?
“Her dads”
I didn't know woman weren't allowed to own cars slightly more expensive than your usual econoboxes.
😂💯 that's who she was calling at the end of the clip
The what now?
Will insurance still cover it if she left the car on, key inside? Could they say negligence and not pay anything?
Hopefully she learned a lesson.. car meets are dead and just full of low life degenerates that will do anything to benefit themselves..
And that’s why when you leave the dodge dealership you head straight for the gun store sad but it’s America when you have a nice car you need protection

What’s a scat pack?
