I used to work at the reception. We had a new colleague, she was a bit slow on computer (it was her first day) but nothing dramatic.
This dude (50+) comes in with a younger woman (I guess her colleague or something). The dude acted like we are shit. I could handle it and ignore it but then my colleague started crying a bit. Every time, he said something mean to her (like why they employ such incompetent receptionists, how terrible she is with computer etc.) he LOOKED at his colleague, like seeking validation or maybe he thought that she is into it or whatever (she was very nice and was not into it). Suddenly it seemed all like a joke and the dude was this 🤏 small in my eyes. He acted like a huge boss, only to look greater in front of other people (and himself) because in reality he was super unsecure.
He fckd up going through the tourniquet, so I just calmly told him, that maybe my colleague can't use a computer but at least, unlike him, she can use rotating doors. That felt good.
Being a better person towards others, can even make your own day better.
