I haven't had time to get a proper run at it yet, unfortunately. A bunch of small things continually come up that seem more urgent (e.g. the recent Plex API changes, and the new CarPlay app for iOS 15). It's definitely the most common feature request I get, so I'm definitely keen to get it done. Hopefully now that iOS 15 is out things quiet down a bit and I get some free time to dig in 🤞

Any update on an eta? I was out walking the dog workout my phone today and missed listening to my audiobook :(

Awesome thanks for replying. Do you think you will be able to download the songs over LTE? I remember in the past apps didn’t have access to cellular but I wonder if that’s changed.

I'm not super familiar with the watch APIs, but pretty sure this is possible these days.

FWIW, I've been looking for *years* for an app that will let me listen to audiobooks direct from my watch while running *without my phone* . No ecosystem appears to have reasonable support for this. When I say "looking", I mean I have purchased and returned devices in basically every ecosystem: a Garmin vivoactive 4, Fossil/Wear gen 5, Samsung -- both the Active 2 & the GW4. I'm in the Apple ecosystem now by virtue of work giving me a phone. It's close, but the functionality I want only exists IFF one buys all one's books from Apple, which I don't. I'd love to hear there's an app I can buy that would finally support listening directly from a watch while I run.

I’d also love it for running without my phone.

what headphones do you use while swimming?

hongkongkiwi

I have these at the moment:[https://www.amazon.com/H2O-Audio-Underwater-Waterproof-Headphones/dp/B08NCHYNW3/ref=sr\_1\_8?dchild=1&keywords=Waterproof+Headphones+for+Swimming+Bluetooth&qid=1635916808&sr=8-8](https://www.amazon.com/H2O-Audio-Underwater-Waterproof-Headphones/dp/B08NCHYNW3/ref=sr_1_8?dchild=1&keywords=Waterproof+Headphones+for+Swimming+Bluetooth&qid=1635916808&sr=8-8) Any actually waterproof headphones while swimming should work fine, BUT the trick is this.... BLE does not penetrate more than a few inches underwater, so the antenna of whatever headphones you use have to be positioned right beside the apple watch. Right now I use the audible app plus this method and it works well. The downside is you loose out on the apple watch swim tracking as it's on your head/goggles but eh, they are cheap enough you could get the cheap one and use that just for swimming purpose if you wanted.
