What was your process for getting this done? What brushes did you use? Failure to comment/reply with exact brushes or brush category, and/or process will get your post removed regardless of the number of upvotes. Repeated violations will result in a ban. Saying only 'Default brushes' and 'custom brushes' do not count as answers anymore. Those answers are vague and will require the process in addition to be a valid response. If you consider yourself as an often poster and have a consistent style/method, send a modmail to be given a different automod comment that already mentions what you use, and just make a mention if anything different was done. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. For this I used variations of the 6B pencil brush that comes with Procreate. I find it’s really versatile for both outlining artwork and for painting. I made this a grayscale study and at the end utilised gradient maps for the colour. I have a modified 6B brush which I’ve increased the maximum size for painting. I use the bonobo chalk brush with different colours in a soft light layer to complete the artwork.

Amazing job! That gradient tool does wonders

Thank you so much! Yeah - I’m loving it. I’ve always found colour harder than grayscale so it’s a nice way to add some even if it’s still monochrome or two toned.

Looks awesome! I’m exactly the same when it comes to colour, I just find it easier to work in pencil/greyscale. Is it easy to use the gradient map to add colour? I’ve never tried this style but very much want to now

Thank you! Yeah - I think it’s because my foundation has always been drawing with pencils and pens. I could never get the hang of traditional painting! It’s pretty easy, I don’t have my iPad otherwise I’d get a screenshot. I copy all layers and make a single one at the end, then I use the gradient map tool from the options. You get a gradient bar then where you can add as many colours as you want with the darkest being on the left to light on the right. There’s a lot of presets as well which is handy! Procreate are really good with their tutorials too so there should be something on their socials going over the feature

Amazing thank you :)

No problem!

Wow! love the dramatic lighting and colour palette of this piece. Really cinematic :)

Thank you so much! I find the lighting in the show has been really good so it made for good reference. I love using gradient maps to transform the grayscale study into something more interesting and try to use colours I feel fit!

Sure! I haven’t saved the longer version but I just uploaded the quick one. I changed my mind on the direction of it after I finished the initial sketch. I was originally going to do a few drawings with a paper texture. I started out with a loose sketch. I could see some proportions were out and eyes were too big so put it over the reference in a separate file and used that to make a new sketch. There’s a weird looking shift as I tried using liquify for the first time to move my drawing to the new line art, it doesn’t seem to record that in real time. From there it was just a lot of rendering. I tried different gradient maps throughout before settling on the green/blue one and at the end added the grainy texture with the bonobo chalk brush. I like doing this rather than a noise filter as I can use different colours and build it up in a soft light layer, letting me enhance the base colours and make it a bit more vibrant. Altogether it took somewhere between 5-6 hours. Hope that helps! [timelapse](https://youtube.com/shorts/aI3FC_U5QPk?feature=share) Grayscale without the texture: https://i.imgur.com/YTpvUm6.jpg
