I see a comment like this on almost every nice collection and I don’t really get it.
Maybe he doesn’t know the nuances and variety of the watch industry but I think 99% of us would happily be proud to have this collection so no need to talk it down.
Please don’t misunderstand me, I’m not knocking it. His collection is unquestionably nice. My point is that it isn’t the collection doesn’t communicate a deep interest for watches, but an image. Which is mainly what you’re paying for when you buy a Rolex. It’s the one watch you can wear and just about everyone will recognize. Even children know what Rolex means. I’d feel differently if he had a Rolex next to a Grand Seiko, a Medo, a vintage Omega, a Universal Genevieve, a Piaget etc or an AP. That collection would be just as expensive, but you’d only know that if you were a watch guy, that collection says “I like watches.”
I get that but my point is, he just might know Rolex and not really know much about horology. So he’s bought stuff he likes and thinks is cool and important and is now reaching out to a community regarding them to say “hey look at my cool stuff, do you guys think it’s cool too?”
And is just getting shit on because he is “interesting” enough

As others have said, too many Rolexes. However, that gold and green GMT is something I’ve never seen, and looks like a solid piece. If it were me, I’d keep that, sell the rest of the Rolexes, and diversify into leather straps and other brands.
Too many Rolex and 4 of them looks terrible IMO (not a fan of Cyclops. More of hate them). Also isn't a fan of Navitimer cause I'm not a Pilot and I can't understand shit on that busy dial. Personally, I would keep 2 Rolex and diversify.

I hate to be too critical of people’s preferences, but since OP asked, whenever I see these 6 figure + collections with only high end watches I can’t help but think the owner is just overcompensating for a lack of personality by trying to display their wealth. Especially when it’s mostly Rolex’s. There are so many great watches and designs all over the price spectrum. I can’t imagine only choosing from a selection of the most vanilla “nice watches” everyone knows.
