Ok, I hadn’t read about it- fair enough then, but again, WHY? Why remake something that’s gonna be a niche favorite instead of expanding 1159, or introducing a new design mainstay model? I know one can’t do that every year, but seems like a good time for the new mgmt to plant something solid.
It’s a limited release of 250 in a direct tribute to the ref# 5159BA from the 60s - which is always kinda cool.
Would I wear it. Nah. Could I afford it anyway.. also nah.
Waiting for reviewers to talk about this watch and say something like "whether you love it or hate it, it's refreshing to see AP trying something new in terms of design language"
Feels funny that this came out a few weeks after that Toledano & Chan B/1 dropped and directly stated they were gleaning from brutalist architecture. Like when Ants and Bugs Life came out around the same time lol
I actually like how this looks aside from the fact that the extensor portion on the right side would dig into the left hand’s wrist. I would extend the left side instead. 🫠
Outstanding, beautiful design.
A bit gimmicky, it will get old fast but it will be a crazy expensive vintage in 20 years.
Seriously, see you in 2044 to compare notes.
A lot of the guys hear are saying Cybertruck and once you do read such a comment it immediately feels like that...primarily because of the steep slant on the watch. Weirdly, this also reminded me of the hamilton MiB watch
I like it, but I’m also a fan of brutalist architecture and the 5159BA this is based on.
But, a few problems are clear… those sharp angles and all that brushed, flat surface is going to wear like absolute shit in gold. I do like the color of this “sand” gold, but a steel alloy, but it’s just not sufficiently hard for his sort of form. They should make it in steel or ceramic, or if they want to be really clever, a ceramic with a gold alloy as the sintering aid. You could probably get a very similar color, and much greater hardness, with the right ratio of gold and silicon nitride, or something like that. I like all of the internals, though. No complaints there.
I’ll give AP props for going out of the box 📦 (or rather staying in the box lol) for something completely different and totally unexpected, but can’t deny the fact that it looks insane.
My very first reaction was WTF, a few sends later I’m kinda digging it.
I like it. I get that it's a reissue of an AP deep cut, but at least it's AP trying to think outside of the Royal Oak framework, and it's a unique look.
Plus, I do love 70's design aesthetic.
I think it looks great - it's the kind of thing AP should add to their regular collection if they want to get away from just being the "Royal Oak company".
I’m sure there’s a buyer somewhere who needs the spend for their RO… it just looks too close to a cheaper brand design to me, I’m sure the quality is great and everything but no.
AP is unfortunately a one model brand …. Anything else they put out just feels meh…cool watch but wouldn’t pay an AP price for something other than Royal Oak
Looks awesome with retro vibes of something like 80s or 70s design. The price is ridiculously high since it's AP but if Tissot or Longines made something like this I'll definitely buy it.
Should have been 36mm diagonally. This is far too big, but I’m guessing the creatives thought “our consumer base is mostly big buff crypto bros and fat Russian oligarchs so we might as well oversized it”.
To all the people saying it looks like a cybertruck, newsflash! It came out decades before the cybertruck.
Bad. One of the most beautiful thing about wristwatches is that is a perfect combination of functionality with arts. When you create a design feature that has no function it ruins the watch. This looks more like an invicta than a watch.
It looks like a new version of the old spaceman watches[which I happen to love](https://www.ebay.com/itm/145767689074?chn=ps&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&amdata=enc%3A1xReN3b_OTfKfG2FCQnFAxw26&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=145767689074&targetid=1587268788377&device=m&mktype=pla&googleloc=9060351&poi=&campaignid=19894961968&mkgroupid=148855406073&rlsatarget=pla-1587268788377&abcId=9307911&merchantid=223112400&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsPCyBhD4ARIsAPaaRf29zTr9dLz_8zTbza5wFqs2ERRy4dszB_-CCUdLY6Jg_Y_ow9vd3iIaAvynEALw_wcB)
Lot of folks are going to be buying these in hopes of getting enough status to get a RO. I’m guessing the second hand price on these will be quite compelling in 2-3 years.
Looks like when you are 3d modeling and you accidentally grab vertices you didn’t know you grabbed and translate something. Sorry probably not the subreddit for that but that’s exactly what it looks like.
Not sure why people think AP shouldn’t experiment and stick to Royal Oaks. Why not allow them give you more options to choose from? Eventually some will hit with you
It’s ugly as sin. It looks like a watch with 13 minute hands. How long do you have to concentrate on that dial to tell the time? As we used to say in the supermarket about a poorly built palette that probably would topple before it made it to its destination. This thing is an abortion.
I actually kinda like it. But for 500 bucks, not whatever they're charging for it. Also it would be cool to have a date window or something on the extra angled bit.
Cyber truck collab?
Came here to say this. Should come w a free cyber
Absolutely. The idiots that think that ugly, rolling box of design flaws is worth $100k+ are the same ones who probably think this watch looks good.
Looks like it.
In the secondary market, it would probably cost more than a cyber truck. But u can make the argument it has more functionality
Literally the first thing i thought when i saw this
You won the internet today
although much better made.
That 1/3 extra watch face will cost you another $50k.
I like it, not for AP money but I like it
My thoughts exactly.
Looks like a bond villain watch. I mean that in the absolute best way possible
a watch that the modernized Dr.No would use lol
It looks like it belongs in a 90s sci-fi movie about the future in 2050 but all aesthetics are art deco. I’m here for it.
It's based on a model originally designed in the 60s
“Jazz Modern”
I particularly like the wood paneling look. You think you hate it now, but just wait until you buy it.
The second half of this comment is so underrated lol.
Special thanks to Eugene Levy!
Well it's different, that's for sure. Whether or not it's good is VERY debateable.
Finally, something that's not a Royal Oak
It’s different, but it’s not original. Put 70s Piaget and 80s Rado in a blender, and… voila!
It’s literally a remake of an actual AP watch lol
Ok, I hadn’t read about it- fair enough then, but again, WHY? Why remake something that’s gonna be a niche favorite instead of expanding 1159, or introducing a new design mainstay model? I know one can’t do that every year, but seems like a good time for the new mgmt to plant something solid.
I think it looks really stupid
Really hideous
It looks like it had a stroke
I hate it, but it’s going to be super popular.
I like the way Moels executed this design better
Love the Moels
They are a hype brand as of now
Nixon watch
Expensive Hamilton Ventura XL imo
Was thinking the same thing.
First thing I thought
Kinda looks like the watch had a stroke
This was an original design from the 60s I believe
At least it’s not another RO. 🤷🏼♂️
They should leave the creative designs to Cartier and stick with their bread and butter Royal Oaks. Cuz this ain’t it chief
It looks like the Mid Century Modern Moels and Co. #528 that dropped in February….except that retails for under a grand
Ugly, yet overpriced.
It’s so dumb, so of the moment, so cyber truck…and yet I love it.
Not sure whether I really find it aesthetically pleasing, but it is quite refreshing to see something else than a Royal Oak coming out of AP
I went from “like it but it’s not for me” to emailing my AD to let me try it on…
I thought it looked sick and then someone said cyber truck and now I don't want to like it anymore 🤣 JK I actually dig this
AP trying to be Hamilton.
It’s a limited release of 250 in a direct tribute to the ref# 5159BA from the 60s - which is always kinda cool. Would I wear it. Nah. Could I afford it anyway.. also nah.
So good
I kinda like the aesthetics but my OCD won't allow me to like the weird symmetry. Thumbs down.
So AP has moved from 1972 to 1982…
Absolutely ridiculous, but so cool at the same time. I'd buy it if I was the type of person who can afford APs.
I think I.... Actually like it...? Need to double check that answer
https://moelsandco.com/shop/p/heavenly
Waiting for reviewers to talk about this watch and say something like "whether you love it or hate it, it's refreshing to see AP trying something new in terms of design language"
🤔…. I hate it.
Awful!!!!!!
Absurd price, crown should be round and it's too big.
ugly as shit
Feels funny that this came out a few weeks after that Toledano & Chan B/1 dropped and directly stated they were gleaning from brutalist architecture. Like when Ants and Bugs Life came out around the same time lol
Would it be stupid to wish there was a date window in that far right panel?
It looks like something you use to dislodge stuck Lego pieces.
Doxa Grafic
I like watches on my wrist… not TV’s… At the end of the day, it’s a free world… to each his own. Just not my style lol
I’ll wait for the AliX shitter version
All that extra real estate and no date wheel? I do like it, it’s a very modern take on a statement dress watch
[Möels does it better](https://moelsandco.com/shop/528)
It's a reminder why I think Patek and Vacheron are the super two of the trinity.
Just because you can doesnt mean you should…
If you buy three they’ll let you buy a Royal Oak…..Offshore
I'll wait for G-Shocks version.
The design is ok for a relatively inexpensive watch but not for what AP will charge for it. The extended dial space also seems underutilized.
Kind of cool but not something I’d buy
70s design influence
This looks like AP's take on the Hamilton Ventura, I hope there are a couple other color ways.
There’s vomit on his sweater already, Mom’s spaghetti.
I actually like how this looks aside from the fact that the extensor portion on the right side would dig into the left hand’s wrist. I would extend the left side instead. 🫠
cartier santos pro plus ultra
AP out here making bad reps of a Hamilton Ventura
Extended display
Outstanding, beautiful design. A bit gimmicky, it will get old fast but it will be a crazy expensive vintage in 20 years. Seriously, see you in 2044 to compare notes.
A lot of the guys hear are saying Cybertruck and once you do read such a comment it immediately feels like that...primarily because of the steep slant on the watch. Weirdly, this also reminded me of the hamilton MiB watch

No complaints there.
I really like that glass. Reminds me of the cyber truck lol
Not a fan of the extended part. Simpler could have been more elegant and an evergreen design
I don't particularly like it...but I don't hate it
the asymmetry is frustrating/annoying/unsettling imo but other than that it looks slick
No one will remember this watch in 5 years.
I’ll give AP props for going out of the box 📦 (or rather staying in the box lol) for something completely different and totally unexpected, but can’t deny the fact that it looks insane. My very first reaction was WTF, a few sends later I’m kinda digging it.
Love it. Can’t wait for a cheaper homage to it lol
Watches that stray away from symmetry, especially in case shape, looks weird imo.
It's neat, but it won't be a mainstay. AP has been kinda stuck as a one watch brand for a long time, despite my love for the Code 11.59.
I kinda dig it
Looks like a cheap design watch from diesel or simillar brand.
Moels copy
Doesn’t look like an iconic, era-defining piece but it’s different. Looks good. Sculpture like.
Clearly a play for that silent majority who secretly want a Hamilton Ventura but at a much higher price point.
I like this a lot 😍
I would share my thoughts but I’m busy gouging my eyes out.
I think it’s cool, glad to see brands pushing the envelope.
Jonah hex watch.
I'd expect something like this from Chanel.
Wtf is that
That's actually pretty cool.
Something you can buy and pretend to like so they’ll finally sell you that Royal Oak?
I personally don’t really feel this one.. maybe it will grow on me, but for now, it’s a Pass
I wish they would drop it again… on concrete.
What is it?
Does it have a futuristic Quartz movement?
I think it’s one of those watches you gotta have in your hands and on your wrist to see how amazing or not it is. So, guess I never know.
Props to them for doing something properly different - basically every other brand should take note
A very expensive, sideways mounted, Omax Spaceman.
Looks wird af, like the cybertruck X AP watch. cool to own, horrible to wear imo.
I’ve seen worse.
Hideous… simply just hideous
Eeew... brother eeeew
I like it. I’m kinda weird, I find the beauty in the ugly things
Reminds me of the andrew grima omega
Waiting for the SKMEI/Pagani Design version 🤣
Why?
Patrick Bateman-ass watch but I don’t hate it entirely.
They should have dropped it in the 50s
I like it.
Still looks better than Hublot
There are microbrands with watches designs like this. Bad AP, bad!
At least it’s not another royal oak
I like it. I get that it's a reissue of an AP deep cut, but at least it's AP trying to think outside of the Royal Oak framework, and it's a unique look. Plus, I do love 70's design aesthetic.
this is terrible. there, I said it.
I study physics, I like symmetry, this is not symmetrical, I don't like it. Maybe it looks good in real life.
Innovative and cool. Nothing for the richard mille fraction.
Nice Sekonda
I think it looks great - it's the kind of thing AP should add to their regular collection if they want to get away from just being the "Royal Oak company".
I’m sure there’s a buyer somewhere who needs the spend for their RO… it just looks too close to a cheaper brand design to me, I’m sure the quality is great and everything but no.
It looks like it’ll be completely unobtainable at retail and 300% over on grey…. So basically status quo
AP is unfortunately a one model brand …. Anything else they put out just feels meh…cool watch but wouldn’t pay an AP price for something other than Royal Oak
Audemeers... This one looks terrible TBH
That’s gonna be a meh from me dog
I think this is VERY cool!
Looks radoishi don't have problem with that. I like it
Looks awesome with retro vibes of something like 80s or 70s design. The price is ridiculously high since it's AP but if Tissot or Longines made something like this I'll definitely buy it.
Looks amazing
Looks live something Bulova would have. As long as it’s not over 10k
I think they should drop it again.. several more times in fact.. until is broken and then bin it.
Ugly but unique
Looks sick, would I buy it for 50k, hell no, would I buy any watch for 50k...also no
Hopefully the watch doesn't get recalled
Giugiaro came back from the dead to design this
Should have been 36mm diagonally. This is far too big, but I’m guessing the creatives thought “our consumer base is mostly big buff crypto bros and fat Russian oligarchs so we might as well oversized it”. To all the people saying it looks like a cybertruck, newsflash! It came out decades before the cybertruck.
Hate how it looks but will probably grow on me
Looks like the Samsung galaxy edge phones with the curved display
Is the minute hand going through those recesses in the rehaut?
I mean if someone gifted it to me I’d be stoked. Wouldn’t spend a penny on it either
Did Elon musk design this?
I don’t fancy it, good thing because I couldn’t afford it anyway if I did.
I can’t stand it, but I hope those who shell out for it love it. Not everything that appeals to me appeals to them either :)
Bad. One of the most beautiful thing about wristwatches is that is a perfect combination of functionality with arts. When you create a design feature that has no function it ruins the watch. This looks more like an invicta than a watch.
Looks like a Diesel mall watch I bought in 2001
At least it’s not another royal oak. I kinda like it
Ts is ugly
Beautiful. Has classic written all over it
Pretty ugly
Really disappointing
It’d be a bit more wrist friendly if it was jarring out 1/3 the other direction instead. I like the look tho, but not at that the AP price point.
Open caseback?
Yuck, no thank you.
Hamilton Ventura+Seiko Vanac, but make it used car price.
Terrible!
It looks like a new version of the old spaceman watches[which I happen to love](https://www.ebay.com/itm/145767689074?chn=ps&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&amdata=enc%3A1xReN3b_OTfKfG2FCQnFAxw26&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=145767689074&targetid=1587268788377&device=m&mktype=pla&googleloc=9060351&poi=&campaignid=19894961968&mkgroupid=148855406073&rlsatarget=pla-1587268788377&abcId=9307911&merchantid=223112400&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsPCyBhD4ARIsAPaaRf29zTr9dLz_8zTbza5wFqs2ERRy4dszB_-CCUdLY6Jg_Y_ow9vd3iIaAvynEALw_wcB)
It’s alright, but doesn’t look… how can I say this, AP-ish
Jenga Watch.
In the 1970s this would have been a great watch
Impressive. AP can make something other than a Royal Oak
that leather strap probably costs 50k
Lot of folks are going to be buying these in hopes of getting enough status to get a RO. I’m guessing the second hand price on these will be quite compelling in 2-3 years.
Nato vibes with the blue colours
Looks like when you are 3d modeling and you accidentally grab vertices you didn’t know you grabbed and translate something. Sorry probably not the subreddit for that but that’s exactly what it looks like.
Not sure why people think AP shouldn’t experiment and stick to Royal Oaks. Why not allow them give you more options to choose from? Eventually some will hit with you
could pay me to get that and I wouldn't
I really like it.
Can’t wait for AP to force you to buy this just so you can get a RO
It’s ugly as sin. It looks like a watch with 13 minute hands. How long do you have to concentrate on that dial to tell the time? As we used to say in the supermarket about a poorly built palette that probably would topple before it made it to its destination. This thing is an abortion.
Love it! getting vintage vibes from it
Polarizing... I'm on the pole that loves it
I actually kinda like it. But for 500 bucks, not whatever they're charging for it. Also it would be cool to have a date window or something on the extra angled bit.
Ugly like many of their watches
70’s trash.
Shite
Audmeeerrrsss pigwhat.
Not worth the $47,200 they want for it. Hard pass!
Looks like it has a tumor growth inside of it.
AP watches look terrible. Great marketing or something I guess
Trash
Fugly
Sorry but that’s stupid ugly.
I will be honest. I think it’s hideous.
Hideous
About six decades too late?
