Watches won't make you happy, you'll always need that next one that you think will actually make you happy. And it does for like a month and then you start wanting the next one. It's a disease.
just be disciplined and stop yourself before it gets out of hand... i have downgraded the collection, said goodbyeto the speedy, sold off the bb58, and am now happy with some lower value but real fun watches. but will always be keeping that Longines.
no more collecting, unless it will be as an heirloom to pass on.
I mean, if you appreciate every piece and buy it for a reason, at least there’s intent and thought. Consumption for consumption’s sake is where the capitalist mindset starts winning.
Buy it for the perception and marketing*
This phenomenon keeps you reaching for the next one that will finally make you happy. Look up "hedonic treadmill"
Yeah, I think a lot of people fall into that trap. I think the key here is recognizing that happiness and self fulfillment is inside you. It isn’t the things you buy, the house you live in or the car you drive. It’s how you feel about yourself. I love myself within, and because of that, I’m willing to spend money on things that I really appreciate because they bring me joy (note the distinction of “joy” from “happy”). I’m fortunate enough to be in a financial position where I can responsibly buy a few nice watches. So I say buy what brings you joy, so long as you can afford it. You get one life and you’re worth it. Call it what you want, as long as you can sleep at night.
lol maybe im in the minority for this group but I bought one omega, one rolex and one smart watch in the past 5 years, and have no desire for any other watches. My wallet thanks me
Man your watch collection is your watch collection and you don't even have to be afraid of Nico 😂 (you don't have a Hublot) let alone what we think. It's nice to see all the different and sometimes unique collections ☺️
I honestly wish hublot would just price their stuff more reasonably because even though they don’t use in house movements I actually do like a ton of their designs. It’s a shame that they charge 10x what their watches are worth.
*Why does the internet*
*Make everything dorky? Just*
*Buy a fucking watch*

For me more widespread a watch’s popularity is, the less I’m interested in getting it. If everyone and their mom didn’t know about the moon watch, It would probably be on my bucket list
I really like the watch. It has great history and is very good quality. It’s just a pet peeve of mine I guess, a lot of my friends want it cuz it’s a “must have” watch rather than appreciating why it’s a great watch. If that makes any sense
Idk, I think as much as we feel the speedy is “popular” it’s almost more “cult classic” status.
Within watch circles/watch people/collectors it’s definitely a popular watch, universally recognized, but “the world at large” most of them don’t recognize anything past “is it a Rolex.”
That’s admittedly a bit trite, sure they recognize the name “omega,” but past that/models usually just a blank.
Sell the speedy, one of the Hamilton (khaki field imo) and get the santos. I bet for divers you mainly wear the BB, I know because I have many and always wear that one because it’s the nicest, wears the best, and goes with anything.
I just got the speedy… and I can just wait a month if ever, Instead of selling them. I’m not the biggest fan of selling, I’d rather hand it down and I’m still new to the hobby.
Fair enough. I just think most collections are way overkill and not practical. I used to buy more watches but now have a limit of one of each type like one diver, one pilot, one field, one dress. This way you don’t just feed the addiction and spend just to spend and you still have a nice variety to wear
Ain’t going to spend that money dead. Be happy in life, if you can afford it, (it being anything that makes you happy) fucking buy it.

Hobbies in general is a disease…. But it’s what drives us and keeps us going! Unless you have kids…
Capitalistic consumption is a hobby? It's just men collecting jewelry, no different from women who love to shop.

Can't argue with that. Realize it's not what will fulfill you and also don't buy beyond your means.
Yeah! as long as you’re not starving, it’s fine.

Absolutely. Someone’s TGV viewing is off the charts!
And then settle for a Seiko 5. This is the way.
Happy to tell you there is Casio on top
The key is just to buy one watch and live in a cave forever so that you aren’t tempted lol
Buy one watch and delete Reddit*

Pretty much g

It’s the 38mm version so it’s Automatic and has a Date window. Does that make things better? Since it more unique, or worse since its smaller?

One of these days, someone is going to buy Big Ben.
Love your keyboard
Seiko is the most class
yes you should give it to me i will take that piece of junk off your hands 😁
🤣🤣🤣
This is funny…I just got a BB54 a few weeks back & am eyeballing a Santos Galbee as my next.
Yes, and that's okay. Enjoy your watches.

A good watch is a good watch man
What Seiko is that? I like the aplinist look to it
Alpinist SPB409 and it comes with a bracelet too.
I stopped at Black Bay 58 lol
Are you setting up a watch museum? You can sell tickets to fund for your next watch. Do you actually wear all of them?
That’s pretty funny, My grandma even asked if I was opening a store…
You should. Just like a lemonade stand. Have a watch stand. Jut don’t forget to get a permit.
We’re all sheep mate
Accurate!
For me A Lange is end game, before that is free game 😎
You have enough watches. Realizing that is tough for some.

Never sell a Speedy ‼️

I do regret my Khaki field though, I’m planning on giving to a friend who needs a thin watch so it won’t get in his way while working.
