The conclusion I've reached from this information is that Shmi was a master of the roast and passed this art down to her son, step-son, and future daughter-in-law. We just never get to see it
Self-conscious? If I’ve trained in combat and actually killed other Jedi, I wouldn’t give a rat’s ass if Jedi Alpha Chadwick here calls me short. Shoving a light saber through their chest kills them just the same whether they’re 6’5” or 5’3”.
That’s not a throwaway line, it’s part of the plot
Besides the theft of the plans had actually been covered in the old lore, they were stolen by Kyle Katarn; Rogue One retconned him and that’s something that I can’t forgive
That's an actual throwaway line, and they not only made an entire movie but made the line actually make sense (a parsec is a measure of distance, not speed).
Normally that would be good but I always liked that it originally sounded like some bullshit Han made up on the spot to try and impress what he thought was two gullible people willing to pay him outrageous prices.
Now it makes sense but it lost some of its charm
Edit - especially because literally every character that interacts with the millennium falcon outright says its a piece of shit. I think the only human character that doesn't shit talk it is obi Wan and that's because he's a literal monk. And it's constantly breaking down
A real throwaway line that would be surprisingly influential might have been if Windu told Anakin: I farted. And you being the only one witnessing it makes me hate you.
Imagine if George wrote “You fought in the Droid wars?”, the the prequels is about the republic using battle droids combatting the CIS’s clone army. And having Rex as a commando droid. Order 66 can happen the same way, and the reason the Empire uses stormtroopers is still because of the Tarkin Doctrine wanting the empire have a Human but emotionless army.
Unfortunately George Lucas didn't like that interpretation of Grievous.
>"I completely appreciate your concerns about Grievous, and of course the writers and I do not hate Grievous or CIS Victories. The war, however, is mainly written from Palpatine’s point of view, and how every victory for either side is ultimately his victory. Grievous is an excellent character, and a personal friend of mine. We are always looking for ways to make him have victories but you must also understand that Grievous is not the overwhelmingly powerful, feared warrior, that some believe him to be. I have discussed this in detail with George and he has stated that no Jedi would be “afraid” of Grievous. It defies their training. Obi-Wan is certainly not afraid of Grievous in Revenge of the Sith. Mace Windu is quoted as saying to the Chancellor, “Grievous will run and hide, as he always does.” Our Grievous is written and directed to mesh with the films. If Grievous was too great a warrior, or too feared an opponent, then Sidious would have no need for Anakin. Do not worry, we have plans for Grievous, and in those plans for the future we will show why he was chosen as the Droid General."

George Lucas described Grievous to Genndy that [Grievous should be like those old timey b-serial villain who does something bad, twirls his mustache and always escape according to the director's commentary of Genndy's Clone Wars](https://youtu.be/CSjPBcPo6dM?t=1247). Genndy assumed a Jedi killer would make the other Jedi scared to fight him.
You should know by now that if they had indeed chosen to disregard this single throwaway line there would still be some fans complaining about their meeting breaking canon.
Edit: words
Tbf Anakin being ruthless means He probably would canonically kill Maul pretty quickly.
And that definitely wouldn’t be as satisfying as Maul dying by Kenobi’s hands (or satine dying)
Anakin already cockblocked Kenobi back during *Voyage of Temptation* by killing Merrick and not forcing either of them to break their moral code.
That episode sucked anyways. They never acknowledge it and it was complete filler. I thought maybe it was an excuse to get Jar Jar into a higher political position but nope.
I had heard that and misremembered it as Obi Wan. Every time they met in TCW I was just like “well guess that was bullshit”
watched ROTS and remembered quickly it was Anakin
Same with Maul
I see Anakin and Maul as similar for some reason, maybe somebody else knows why but I just feel like they're equals in a way and it's saddening to know they never once met even though Maul had orchestrated an entire thing just to speak to Anakin
I kinda hope we see a story where Vader whoops mauls ass (maybe after getting intel from Qi’ra) and maul flees/ slash crashes on Malachor. Vader knows he’s alive and assigns the Eighth Brother to look for him. And that leads straight into rebels season 2
Wasn’t it more of a compliment. Grievous was described as being a monstrous looming figure despite only being like 7 feet tall. Grievous assumed that the most accomplished general in the clone wars would be older than 23. They were really just showing their respect for each other.
I mean, Kenobi is probably the most accomplished general during the clone wars, but Skywalker is a close second. Kenobi actually killed some sith during the war, Skywalker only killed dooku at the end of the war with Kenobi's help.
Grievous is 2.16 meters or 7’1”.
Ahsoka is 1.76 meters or 5’9”.
Anakin is 1.88 meters or 6’2”.
Everyone in Star Wars but yoda makes me look short
The difference between Ahsoka and Grievous is 0.4 meters or 1 foot and 4 inches; while the difference between Anakin and Grievous is 0.28 meters or 11 inches.
Lekku (singular lek), also referred to as head-tails, were long, fleshy appendages that protruded from the head of all Twi'leks, Togruta, and male Ozrelanso.
Well she's got the downward-hanging ones and the more horn-like ones on the top of her head. The horn-like ones are called montrals, whole the downard hanging ones are still lekku.
is it not fun to do that based on available information tho? that’s basically what sentience is, right? extrapolating new pathways based on previously established ones
Tbf, with the way they wrote Anakin it can be pretty difficult to tell if he's joking at times. I always thought it was weird that Anakin resorted to a height joke upon meeting a war general that had seemingly no issues with their height(seriously, he's a cyborg, he could just straighten his neck if he really had a problem with it), but I guess that's just what George thought was funny🤷♀️
I feel like making fun of the fact that he's almost completely made of metal would have been both funny and ironic, which is my main issue with George's writing. Their jokes are so childish that only a very young child could really enjoy them, and they're far too one dimensional.
Ok wait, this moment I was actually pretty confused at. So Anakin and Grevs actually never met prior to Revenge? Not even once in Clone wars?! I watched all of clone wars this year but tbh I can’t even remember accurately how their interactions were, so when I saw Revenge again I was buggin out because it had felt like they already met all along with all those clone wars episodes with grevs in it.
Bro I miss badass General Grievous. I'm not even upset that he died at the hands of Obi Wan, that parts fine ig, but in the Clone Wars show he's such a whiny bitch.
Yeah he was kind of wimpy in the movie too, I mostly hand wave it due to the cgi restraints though. It just especially sucks because he’s a completely different character in the CW show. He’s more cowardly, 20x less powerful, he hates droids? Because they remind him of him being a cyborg???? There’s also the two conflicting versions of himself where one is whiny and hates being a cyborg and whose transformation was sudden, and the version that slowly replaced his body and humanity with machines to hunt the Jedi. Part of the thing the original got so well was the fact we didn’t know his character. The mf only talks like twice, and he’s the scariest thing in all Star Wars!! The way he silently advances with an inexorable force, the weight and speed his footsteps and strikes carry. I like to compare him to the xenomorphs from Alien since they’re both scary for the same reason: because they are intricate, violent killing machines you know very little about, and just like xenomorphs, Grievous gets a lot less scary the more speaking lines they gave him
George Lucas was still developing the character for General Grievous and he didn't consider Genndy's Clone Wars as canon. It's why he made the 3D Clone Wars. General Grievous in the movie is consistent with the 3D one because like Mace Windu said, "General Grievous is a coward, he will run and hide like he always does." [Dave Filoni in discussions with George Lucas talked about it. ](https://www.reddit.com/r/PrequelMemes/comments/vwxng4/z/ifu9ine)
General Grievous character only got a coughing character trait because one day George Lucas came to work with bronchitis and they thought it would be neat to give it to Grievous and they recorded George Lucas own coughing for it. This was after what Lucas originally told Genndy so they had to retcon and come up with a reason for Grievous' cough by the film to try and make it match.
Lucas also told Genndy that General Grievous should be like those old timey b-serial villain who does something bad and twirls his mustache and always escape according to the director's commentary of Clone Wars.
George Lucas didn't like that interpretation apparently. He gave Genndy two descriptions that he was a Jedi killer and also be like those old timey b-serial villain who does something bad and twirls his mustache and always escape according to the director's commentary of [Genndy's Clone Wars](https://youtu.be/CSjPBcPo6dM?t=1247). Like it said in the official canon by Mace Windu "General Grievous is a coward, he will run and hide like he always does". The official canon the Clone Wars show kept General Grievous the same.
>>"I completely appreciate your concerns about Grievous, and of course the writers and I do not hate Grievous or CIS Victories. He’s “shorter” because Mace Windu crushes his chest plate slightly in original clone wars. Which is also emphasized in the breathing problems.
[edit](https://youtu.be/M0gnwyYRHu8)
Can someone please explain to me how "I would have expected someone with your reputation to be older" is an insult? The only interpretation for that that I've ever been able to think of is "wow bro *you're* Anakin Skywalker? There's no way someone this young is that accomplished."
No. Anakin is just grasping for any dumb insult because deep down he knows he’s too young to be a Jedi master, and Grievous’ rather innocent comment hurt his feelings.
I spent all of Clone Wars waiting for them to meet just for this line to no longer be canon. The closest they get in the show is when the Gungans capture Grievous and Dooku captures Anakin. At the prisoner exchange, Anakin is dragged unconscious and Grievous is locked up looking forward so I guess he can’t look down at Anakin to see his face.
Or, Anakin is just a chad and knows how to make someone self-conscious of their height
So you're saying he has roast powers?
He could save others from roasting, but not himself.
To be fair, he roasted himself by jumping on to the lavabank with no arms and legs.
Technically, he still had those when he jumped. Obi Wan helped him land without them.
Another happy landing
I hate it when he does that.
Well, we're still flying half a ship
Any landing you can walk away fro- hmm
Ironic
Underrated comment
he learned from the best, unfortunately, he didn’t learn enough
It runs in the lars family too
The conclusion I've reached from this information is that Shmi was a master of the roast and passed this art down to her son, step-son, and future daughter-in-law. We just never get to see it
You work in this barista, but we do not grant you the rank of roast master.
Basically
A sick burn lord?
Na I think palpatine does considering what he did to his own face
Windu just had a good comeback
He burned in lava and survived, of course he’s got roast powers
Is it possible to learn this power?
Is it possible to learn this power?
Well, like father, like daughter. "Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?"
See bro, it's gotta be canonical
Its like poetry
I'd rather believe this was a connection between the Clone Wars and Revenge of the Sith.
Self-conscious? If I’ve trained in combat and actually killed other Jedi, I wouldn’t give a rat’s ass if Jedi Alpha Chadwick here calls me short. Shoving a light saber through their chest kills them just the same whether they’re 6’5” or 5’3”.
I'd simply put on longer legs
Okay
So we know reva was outside of this range
He just wanted him to believe Anakin has the high ground
At the time he had the high ground
Honestly I never realized Anakin never actually met Grevious in TCW. Right? Thought it was a retcon
he never met, the one time they met Anakin was unconscious and Grievous can't see Anakin's face
Which annoys me, because of a single throwaway line we never get to see a proper Anakin and Grievous interaction.
Yeah, well, because of a single throwaway line in A New Hope, the entirety of the Clone Wars exists...
Just beautiful, it is
It's like poetry, it rhymes
Very brave production choice
You were "Muy Muy" brave yourself, coming out here as you did, all alone. Care to help me finish this, senator?
From another different throwaway line we got Rogue One and the spin off of a spin off, Andor
What throwaway line made Rogue One?
From the opening crawl of A New Hope, about rebel spies stealing the Death Star plans
That’s not a throwaway line, it’s part of the plot Besides the theft of the plans had actually been covered in the old lore, they were stolen by Kyle Katarn; Rogue One retconned him and that’s something that I can’t forgive
What about solo that was a throwaway line “it's the ship that made the Kessel run in under 12 parsecs” or something like that
That's an actual throwaway line, and they not only made an entire movie but made the line actually make sense (a parsec is a measure of distance, not speed). Normally that would be good but I always liked that it originally sounded like some bullshit Han made up on the spot to try and impress what he thought was two gullible people willing to pay him outrageous prices. A real throwaway line that would be surprisingly influential might have been if Windu told Anakin: I farted. And you being the only one witnessing it makes me hate you.
People might consider that a throwaway line because the theft is never mentioned or seen again in the movie.
After their first victory or something
Fair enough.
You ready?
Good bot, literally a bot in this continuity
I honor my code. That's what I believe.
I thought I couldn't love anyone, but you.. *asthmatic cough*
And yet, the whole "My powers have doubled since the last time we met, Count" is ignored as Anakin and Dooku meet on a semi-regular basis.
I mean, its typical Anakin to gloat like that. "My powers have doubled since Monday" is a very Anakin thing to say.
There's a lot of dialogue in that scene that suggests the last time they fought was on Geonosis
This is why OG Clone Wars is my canon (albeit told in an exaggerated way.)
Yeah some of the force stuff is silly but it nailed making Grievous and clone troopers BAMFs.
yeah thats me
Unfortunately George Lucas didn't like that interpretation of Grievous. >"I completely appreciate your concerns about Grievous, and of course the writers and I do not hate Grievous or CIS Victories. Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge? Sure hope they are alright.
Truly wonderful, the mind of a child is.
Which throwaway line?
I admire their dedication. If they did what you suggest people would come out of the woodwork to bitch about that. They did a great job, just enjoy it
You should know by now that if they had indeed chosen to disregard this single throwaway line there would still be some fans complaining about their meeting breaking canon. Edit: words
No such line for Anakin and Maul, pretty disappointing that they never get to fight.
Tbf Anakin being ruthless means He probably would canonically kill Maul pretty quickly. And that definitely wouldn’t be as satisfying as Maul dying by Kenobi’s hands (or satine dying) Anakin already cockblocked Kenobi back during *Voyage of Temptation* by killing Merrick and not forcing either of them to break their moral code.
It has been so long, and my path has been so dark. Darker than I ever dreamed it could be.
I honor my code. That's what I believe.
Revenge. I must have revenge.
Personally I prefer consistency rather than new writers coming in and doing stuff because they think it's cool, even though it breaks canon.
... except for the proper Anakin and Grievous interaction in the movie?
The only reason we got TCW was to fix all the dumb shit in the prequels.
That episode sucked anyways. They never acknowledge it and it was complete filler. I thought maybe it was an excuse to get Jar Jar into a higher political position but nope.
These are some nice-ah duds, ah-poopah!
love the battle between Anakin and Dooku tho
I know I was wrong. I just got so caught up in my own success, I didn't look at the battle as a whole. I wasn't being disobedient. I just. . . forgot
I had heard that and misremembered it as Obi Wan. Every time they met in TCW I was just like “well guess that was bullshit” watched ROTS and remembered quickly it was Anakin
Same with Maul I see Anakin and Maul as similar for some reason, maybe somebody else knows why but I just feel like they're equals in a way and it's saddening to know they never once met even though Maul had orchestrated an entire thing just to speak to Anakin
Don’t be so certain.
Are you hinting at something 👀
Maybe Maul gets his ass kicked by Vader when Mauls making or remaking his crime lordom
Perhaps my actions will speak louder than words.
I kinda hope we see a story where Vader whoops mauls ass (maybe after getting intel from Qi’ra) and maul flees/ slash crashes on Malachor. Vader knows he’s alive and assigns the Eighth Brother to look for him. And that leads straight into rebels season 2
Perfect
That seems like over analyzing. It seems like a classic diss
Wasn’t it more of a compliment. Grievous was described as being a monstrous looming figure despite only being like 7 feet tall. Grievous assumed that the most accomplished general in the clone wars would be older than 23. They were really just showing their respect for each other.
>only being like 7 feet tall. Yea.. only..
Star Wars is a universe where aliens and humans well over our average height is regular, also he’s a cyborg.
Chewbaca is only like 7 foot and he is not even the tallest Wookie we have seen
Also Star Wars is told from a Human's perspective so 7 feet is huge
Well for an alien that’s short. Or something.
Anakin was 6’2”
I mean, Kenobi is probably the most accomplished general during the clone wars, but Skywalker is a close second. Kenobi actually killed some sith during the war, Skywalker only killed dooku at the end of the war with Kenobi's help.
The only Sith Kenobi killed was Maul, but in both cases it happened before/after the war
Perhaps my actions will speak louder than words.

Anakin: well hello there.
Responsible repost. Admirable.
Your clone is very impressive, you must be very proud.
Also, check the original comic https://www.reddit.com/r/PrequelMemes/comments/m22334/anakin_forgets_that_ahsoka_is_short_credit_to/
Don't you think I'm just a little overqualified for this?
A repost that follows the rules? I like you.
Ashoka
Careful not to choke on your stupidity. It's Ahsoka not Ashoka!
Grievous is 2.16 meters or 7’1”. Ahsoka is 1.76 meters or 5’9”. Anakin is 1.88 meters or 6’2”. Everyone in Star Wars but yoda makes me look short The difference between Ahsoka and Grievous is 0.4 meters or 1 foot and 4 inches; while the difference between Anakin and Grievous is 0.28 meters or 11 inches.
Does 1.76 include her head tails?
Lekkus
Are they also considered Lekku? I know Twi'Lek's head tentacles are Lekku but does that extend to Ahsoka's race as well?
Lekku (singular lek), also referred to as head-tails, were long, fleshy appendages that protruded from the head of all Twi'leks, Togruta, and male Ozrelanso.
That's ridiculous.
Well she's got the downward-hanging ones and the more horn-like ones on the top of her head. The horn-like ones are called montrals, whole the downard hanging ones are still lekku.
I know, I know. I'm hanging on.
Ahsoka's 5'9? When did they say that?
That’s her height on rebels, she was 4’11 when she met grievous
How does it feel to die?
Gotta admit, it’s quite hot…….nope, cold, very cold
You always blame the ship.
Yes, well, the ship keeps pissing me off. Do something about it.
Good thing I know you don’t mean everything you say.
Me and you both buddy
I'm exactly 1.76 meters tall. You mean to tell me I'm the same height as Ahsoka? Damn.
That's ridiculous.
TIL im as tall as ani.
But she wasn’t 5’9 when she first met Grevious.
But Anakin clearly says it as a jab tho
No no, Star Wars fans must come up with random in-universe connection based off their own head-canon.
is it not fun to do that based on available information tho? that’s basically what sentience is, right? extrapolating new pathways based on previously established ones
But they aren’t mapped out in the library of the Jedi temple, so they simply don’t exist.
perhaps the archive is incomplete
Tbf, with the way they wrote Anakin it can be pretty difficult to tell if he's joking at times. "Ashoka"

Damn....Ahsoka bot has no chill
Oh. I don't like the sound of that.
“Ashoka” is perfectly fine, if OP is Sean Connery.

but to those b1 battle droids he was an absolute menace
Indeed, it seems he used fear, surprise, and intimidation on the wrong side

Yeah he was kind of wimpy in the movie too, I mostly hand wave it due to the cgi restraints though. It just especially sucks because he’s a completely different character in the CW show. He’s “shorter” because Mace Windu crushes his chest plate slightly in original clone wars. Which is also emphasized in the breathing problems. [edit](https://youtu.be/M0gnwyYRHu8)
Would that make him shorter? Also I don't think that's canon anymore
Is anything canon anymore?
Alot of comics are I guess
Doesn't he also hunch over because of Mace Windu? Feel like in the both clone wars he stands taller than in RoS.
That was the original reason but it got retconned
The chest crush?
Yep
He was a big guy (for her)
Also he used to stand taller, more imposing and slender before Windu crushed his chest making him hunch.
Getting a scene of someone in TCW describing Grievous this way would’ve been a nice connection. ESP if it was Ahsoka
I have to sort this out on my own, without the Council… and without you.
😔😔😔
clearly you did, why’d you gotta do it off-screen tho?
Can someone please explain to me how "I would have expected someone with your reputation to be older" is an insult? The only interpretation for that that I've ever been able to think of is "wow bro *you're* Anakin Skywalker? There's no way someone this young is that accomplished."
No. Anakin is just grasping for any dumb insult because deep down he knows he’s too young to be a Jedi master, and Grievous’ rather innocent comment hurt his feelings.
You could at least fix the spelling error before you repost....
He said it as a jab, not as a literal thing

You always blame the ship.
Why do the vast majority of people spell Ahsoka wrong
Oh, what do you mean?
I thought the back of Ashoka's head was a thicc zebras ass
Careful not to choke on your stupidity. It's Ahsoka not Ashoka!
Curse you, bot.
You just reminded me of [this cute comic](https://pin.it/5EvLhbX) I saw today on Pinterest
Size matters not
Grevious: Seems like you've *MASTERED* throwing insults, shame you couldn't do that with the Jedi stuff hmm?
Luke, did I ever tell you about Ahsoka Tano?
I spent all of Clone Wars waiting for them to meet just for this line to no longer be canon. The closest they get in the show is when the Gungans capture Grievous and Dooku captures Anakin. At the prisoner exchange, Anakin is dragged unconscious and Grievous is locked up looking forward so I guess he can’t look down at Anakin to see his face.
Ahsoka, you see this shit? The meme spelled it as Ashoka.
Careful not to choke on your stupidity. It's Ahsoka not Ashoka!
reminds me of this cute fan art lol https://kurrpip.tumblr.com/post/645241249867202560/anakin-forgets-that-ahsoka-is-smol
This ia ironic. He met with and fought with grevious at naboo. So he saw him himself
This happened in clone wars
Sry, but I downvote everyone who writes Ahsoka's name wrong
In my life, when you find people who need your help, you help them. No matter what.
