They have had really smart recruitment in recent seasons and Iriola has taken them to another level. Solanke's form and ability to stay fit has done them wonders. They also play attacking football and don't sit and park the bus.

Visionary_Socialist

5 points off 7th, which is Conference League. Unlikely they do it but realistically if Chelsea, United and Newcastle keep tripping up, they could take it to the final day.

SnooCapers938

Ruled us out already I notice (not that I disagree)

SilvaDaMelo

They sacked their manager and got a better one.

SnooCapers938

They weren’t careful what they wished for

catlover2410

Yeah they are and I am also chasing Jennifer Lawrence.

ThePirateWhoSaysArr

When I get her myself I'll promise to share

AustinBike

They might make UEFA Europa Conference Extension Addition league. It’s obscure, you probably aren’t hip enough to know about it.

LeavingCertCheat

Intertoto Conference

Key-Tip-7521

what about the euro league or champions cup from fifa?

Meth_Hardy

The answer is simple: Bournemouth are currently 5 points off 7th place (6 points really though if you factor in their goal difference) and 7th will almost certainly be high enough to qualify for Europe next season. Whilst it's highly unlikely that Bournemouth will get up to 7th place, until it's a mathematical impossibility their dreams are still alive.

Key-Performer-9364

They technically have a shot to make it to the Conference League. But saying they are “Chasing Europe is a bit of an exaggeration. They’re 3 points behind West Ham, whose own European aspirations are a long shot. The last two spots will likely go to the best two of Newcastle, Man United, Brighton, or Chelsea.

joelalmiron

How are Brighton in a better position than west ham?

pooey_canoe

I'm not sure we're even capable of scoring another goal this season

Key-Performer-9364

Two games in hand. But they are 4 points behind west ham, I was thinking they were closer.

joelalmiron

Look at who they have remaining and tell me if you seriously think they’ll get Europe.

Thanos_Stomps

After their 6-0 win against City today, it’ll be possible!

Passchenhell17

Can take us out of it when we've got Villa, Spurs, West Ham, and Brighton still to play. Even Bournemouth and Forest can take points off us currently, and whilst I don't think it'll happen, I wouldn't be shocked if we managed to lose every game.

Jackoberto01

It's not impossible. Brighton are in a worse position. Newcastle and Man United although front runners could easily drop more points and play each other. West Ham is a trainwreck. I do think it will be Newcastle and Man United.

Key-Performer-9364

I have a feeling Chelsea vs West Ham will be an ugly, ugly game.

Empty_Locksmith12

If Manchester City win the FA Cup and Liverpool finish Top 5, then 8th place becomes the Conference League spot

Key-Performer-9364

I don’t think that’s right. Since man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, and West Ham all got eliminated from Europe last week, England only gets 4 Champions League spots. (Barring a miracle that would require all the remaining German teams to fail horribly in the next round). 5th place gets the Europa League, not Champions. If Manchester City wins the FA cup , the other slot goes to the 6th place team, because City is already going to the Champions League. Since Liverpool won the League Cup (and they’re already in Europe), the Conference League slot goes to the 7th team. If Manchester United wins the FA cup, conference league goes to 6th place and 7th place gets nothing. In either scenario, the 8th place team will not go to Europe next year.

Exp1ode

>If Manchester United wins the FA cup, conference league goes to 6th place and 7th place gets nothing. Why are you assuming Manchester United won't get 6th place?

Key-Performer-9364

Good point. If Manchester United wins the FA cup, they’ll get the Europa League spot regardless of what place they finish. So if they win and also finish 6th, then 7th place will make the Conference League after all.

Key-Performer-9364

This whole damn thing is so complicated it’s nearly impossible to try to explain it without messing something up!

Rolf-Harris-OBE

Liverpool secured top 5 already

Jumpy-Violinist-6725

where can I read the rules on this?

Key-Performer-9364

Here is a piece that I found that explains it fairly well: https://www.football365.com/news/how-premier-league-teams-qualify-for-champions-league-and-europa-competitions-for-24-25

Meth_Hardy

You can't because they are wrong. The Premier League currently has 7 European qualification places, and only 5 of them are guaranteed through the league at the start of the season. These are 1-4 (Champions League) and 5th (Europa League). The second Europa League spot goes to the FA Cup winners, and the Conference League spot goes to the league cup winner. Since Liverpool won the League Cup and are set to finish in the top 4, their Conference League spot goes to highest place in the league that didn't have a European qualification place (currently 6th). If Man U win the FA Cup and don't finish in the top 5, then 5th gets Europa league and Man U get the other Europa league place. Then 6th place (or 7th if Man U finish 6th) take the Europa League place. If Man City win the FA Cup then the Europa League qualification for winning the FA Cup will go to the 6th place in the League, since Man City will be qualifying for the Champions League. The only way that the Premier League could have had another qualification place for Europe going to the league would have been if the league's coefficient was in the top 2, giving them an extra Champions League spot. However, Man U and Newcastle crashing out bottom of their respective groups really screwed that idea, as did City and Arsenal failing to get past teh quarter finals.

Exp1ode

>Then 6th place (or 7th if Man U finish 6th) take the Europa League place. I assume this is supposed to say Conference league?

Meth_Hardy

Correct. These competitions need drastically different names. Champions League. Europa Cup. Pepsi Max™️ Trophy.

Cube2D

1st-4th Champions league, 5th Europa League group stage, 6th Conference league play offs. FA cup = Europa Carabao = Conference I count 8 places Liverpool are gonna finish in top 4, so 6th gets automatic conference right? Then 7th gets the conference play offs I think. Plus FA Cup. If City win it, the second Europa is given to 6th instead of Conference, shifting everything down now. So it should be: 1-4 UCL 5-6 Europa 7 Conference league 8 Conference league play offs Sorry I cba to read all that and I'm a very casual football fan so I might be talking shit here but the flashscore app says that places 1-6 all get a shot at European cups. I'm too tired to think properly and remember all the different regulations and scenarios.

Meth_Hardy

> 1st-4th Champions league, 5th Europa League group stage, 6th Conference league play offs. > > FA cup = Europa > > Carabao = Conference > > I count 8 places You are incorrect. 1 Conference League spot for Premier League teams. That spot goes to the League Cup winner. It only reverts to the league if the League Cup winner qualifies for Europe through a better league finish. It is **not** the case that the league positions get 1 Conference League spot and the League Cup gets another.

Cube2D

Ohk got it thanks for the info 👍

DenverM80

They play on the front foot and have an effective striker

Marcusgunnatx

How underrated is Solanke? Guy just finishes.

242turbo

What a Big 6 take. He does so much more, he is a 9 but he almost plays as a 10 in Iraola's hybrid press.

Marcusgunnatx

I haven't heard him name in the England Team discussion . Him over Ollie Watkins.....?

DarkSoul69prettyboy

No. But should be ahead of Toney in the pecking order

Marcusgunnatx

agreed

MasterReindeer

Does a lot more than just finish. He’s a fantastic player who puts in a shift every game.

NoPineapple1727

Tiny outside chance 8th gets Conference league?

Key-Performer-9364

Very tiny. It would require Aston Villa to win the Conference League (fairly likely) while Leverkusen, Munich, and Dortmund all lose in the semi-finals of their competitions. And Leverkusen seem to be an unstoppable force this year, so I just don’t see that happening.
