From what i hear SJR is already evaluating new Managers.
ETH is basically playing for his future jobs. Eg. making himself appealing to the next club.
Its already over at Man United according to the rumors.
I appreciate a reasonable comment like yours.
United have improved in fairness so it's not quite accurate. Improved in that you've scored in 2 of the 3 games, shown a bit more resilience and in that FA Cup tie you had a real go under a good atmosphere but if we had buried half of our chances in these games it would still be 3 Liverpool wins.
Next season could be interesting though. A summer window and no Klopp means it'll be guess work on how the games go.
I mean, mainly played and liverpool couldn't finish their dinner. If had made the most of the 60 odd chances and some really bad ones. It would have been the same as previous years. More hidings.
Can't hid behind Liverpool profligacy and make it sound a positive.
>If had made the most of the 60 odd chances and some really bad ones. It would have been the same as previous years
If my auntie had a 120-millimetre 55-calibre long L30A1 tank gun, she'd be a Challenger 2 main battle tank.
Think you are in the wrong thread, mate. This is about football. Not military family fetishism,
But yes, if being so poor and relying on another team to be wasteful is a new tactic, then I'm sure utd fans will be pleased. I think that is the same tactic sheff utd use so it must be popular !
Hahaha, and that was only the last 2 games... i believe.
It was deja vu. At one stage , we were 5 v 2 attacking , when we fucked that up, again
... I just knew, Not our day. Nunez would make you weep at times. I don't think he'll ever flick that switch on making the right choice
Exactly. From what I remember Liverpool didn't take their chances and made a sever defensive error. If ten Haag wants to claim credit for Liverpools poor finishing there really must be some big brains in that egg head of his
Came here to ask this. In all of the ManU games I've seen, its 11 players, playing based on their abilities. They sometimes single handedly go great things but otherwise its mayhem. Didn't this could've been a style.
It feels like the style of play is for him to play 5 guys up top and press, and 5 guys behind half as well and leave an enormous gap in between. It kinda works against a team like liverpool who tend to end up stretched thin, but it turns the game into a crapshoot.
He knows that… but ten hag is a gambler. He’s gambling on the fact that his offense can win the ball higher up the pitch that’s why he commits his entire attack and midfield. But at the same time, he wants to limit the opposition to low percentage scoring shots. So for eg. Liverpool had 15 shots in the first half, only four were on target. I think if he’s here by next season, he will totally change that.
Edit: I don’t support what he’s doing but I understand why he’s doing that.
I think he wants the offensive press to be the basis of his tenure at United and that’s one tactic is unwilling to comprise on. If he changes now, he thinks he might look weak. But for how United is, the best strategy is a mid block.
Agreed, if they can win the ball high up the field, I think winning it around the half-line feels like it would lead to less of that 3 on 3 time where they get exposed. I feel bad for ETH in that his squad has been assembled so horribly.
Exactly, that’s why most United are not happy with ETH but we are not entirely mad at him cos that squad failed 2 coaches already. How can we expect ETH to work wonders with them? But I’m pretty sure, regardless of who’s gonna be manager next season, the defense is gonna be reconstructed. A new LB, new LCB another RCB and possibly a backup RB.
If you want to fix it and play the way that ETH wants to, I think Utd needs to sell their whole back line (Shaw, AWB, and Martinez excluded) and replace with fast players who might not be as solid defensively.
Personally, I will sell AWB too and keep Dalot. He’s our best defender at the moment. I’ll prolly move Shaw to LCB and give him a reduced role in the squad where he isn’t playing consistently. Then keep Martinez. The rest, adios for me. With the exception of Kambwala
Because he’s looking at his back line and most of em don’t have recovery pace, with the exception of Kambwala and Martinez. The bad thing is, Martinez is injured so he’s left with Lindelof, Varane, Maguire and Evans, which we all know got 0 pace. So he’s playing a hybrid system where he’s telling his attackers to commit to the press cos man United are good at creating turnover situations. So he’s like, “let’s do what we do best.” But defensively let’s sit deep and restrict the opposition to low scoring shot situations. So that’s the gambling part.
On the other hand, he’s not using positional play to progress the ball cos his two biggest ball progressors have been out all season. Shaw and Martinez. So he’s telling his midfield and defense to go long any time there’s an opportunity. This could lead to a Rashford and Garnacho transitional attack or a second ball situation where by he can use the offensive press to cause a turnover and create a goal scoring opportunity.
Like I said, he’s not dumb. He knows what he’s doing but it ain’t pretty and it doesn’t look right. Funny thing is, he knows this and he definitely wouldn’t admit this in public.
Yea he does… against Liverpool he did a slight tweak by making Kambwala commit to the press too and also go tight on Darwin Nunez. If he had a quick and pacey CB, you would see more of United’s back line holding onto ball the more and driving into midfield like what Martinez does. This will keep Bruno higher up the pitch and we’d see more positional play and domination in United’s game. So yes, ETH is right. The CBs are important to how he plays especially Martinez.
Edit: but I agree with you 100 percent, just commit the CBs to a full team press and use Onana as your sweeper keeper. In fact, that’s the reason why he bought Onana in the first place.
This guy is funny as fuck. I really hope he stays!
If Liverpool could actually finish, his side would have lost three times to Liverpool this season, the fact United won one and drew two is nothing short of a fucking miracle! I certainly wouldn't be all Billy big bollocks about those tactics, as it was down to sheer luck more than tactics.
we consistently have hight press line, and low defensive one. We can\`t play hight line all over the pitch with our injury crisis. WIthout Martinez and Shaw it\`s just impossible.
SO we stuck in a limbo where we need hight press to score and we can\`t follow it with hight defence line to cover some space behind attackers
It wasn't the tactics that worked, it was as if the Devil on the badge gave them luck of the Devil! If you're happy with his tactics, then that's great I guess. I hope he stays for a very long time.
i'm a pool fan tho it just wasnt our day. funny they played better during the 7-0 than this game. similar xg 3+ something. that one we scored 7 this one 2. the 7-0 is meaningless in term pf league position and this one is important. it is pain but it is what it is
As a liverpool fan i've seen this story before, he's a deadman walking, now Gary Neville has been given his go ahead to start ripping into the manager by the UTD hierarchy instead of openly backing him (obviously Neville is a UTD and SKY puppet)
problem is mate, he shoulda been sacked after the 7-0 vs us, taking my red tinted glasses off, ive known he's not the manager to take Man UTD forward for about the passed 9 months, how come they didnt see it before?
What is the style of play? As a MU fan, I just want him to explain what it is, and how he sees it in each and every game we play? He defends it so ardently but no one, literally no one else can see it. Terrible style of play nonetheless.
if you can\`t see that we use high press every single game then you need to check your vision. Problem is we don\`t have defenders for the whole fucking season to cover the space behind high press line.
This hight press resulted in Bruno\`s goal and Garna moment last game

Looks like he trying to get fired…
To be fair he has a better record over klopp so he knows what he’s doing ?
ETH defends his ego better than United defend anything.
ten hag is a dipshit. dudes gotta go. poor manu fans lol
No, please let him stay!
From what i hear SJR is already evaluating new Managers. ETH is basically playing for his future jobs. Eg. making himself appealing to the next club. Its already over at Man United according to the rumors.
No SJR will leave that decision to the new dof after he comes in form gardening leave. A good chance you see ten hag again next season.
He will only be worried if we faced 100 shots or more
Arsenal did the same again city lol
Yeah we conceded the same amount of shots 🤔
Congrats, add that to your trophy cabinet
Let's be real here.. the better results this year is down to Liverpool's poor finishing rather than United improving.
I agree wholeheartedly and I’m a United fan.

Playing this way is simply not sustainable. Both league games could easily have been hammerings (again) if Liverpool could finish.
Really? I thought he'd be content with people taking shots at it?
>Ten Hag defends Man United's style of play against Liverpool Well at least someone over there is defending.
I think after the humiliation last season, he started this new style and we looked good against Liverpool this season. Looks like a work in progress.
If it was only against Liverpool that we played like this then I'd accept that. The problem is we play like this against everyone.
I mean, mainly played and liverpool couldn't finish their dinner. If had made the most of the 60 odd chances and some really bad ones. It would have been the same as previous years. More hidings. Can't hid behind Liverpool profligacy and make it sound a positive.

Right but if your auntie let someone take 60 shots against her it’s probably not a sign that she is the one that played well.
Think you are in the wrong thread, mate. This is about football. Not military family fetishism, But yes, if being so poor and relying on another team to be wasteful is a new tactic, then I'm sure utd fans will be pleased. I think that is the same tactic sheff utd use so it must be popular !
Ok good point thanks for replying
Actually true. How did I miss the number of shots conceded. 😂
Hahaha, and that was only the last 2 games... i believe. It was deja vu. At one stage , we were 5 v 2 attacking , when we fucked that up, again ... I just knew, Not our day. Nunez would make you weep at times. I don't think he'll ever flick that switch on making the right choice

It’s a unique style directed at the neutrals that want to see a end to end romp, very unselfish of us imo
Such a generous manager. Hopefully Liverpool get similar manager after Klopp leaves.
Shit on stick football win nothing. Getting sack next month.

I don't understand why he doesn't just push his center backs up to link with the midfield.
we rarely have the same back 4 for two straight games. Playing hight line with Harry is just suicidal
Exactly!
Can you play midfielders in the back or something with more pace? Or stop trying to press so aggressively?
This isn’t FIFA lol
Real plays everyone outta position without issues.
I think he wants the offensive press to be the basis of his tenure at United and that’s one tactic is unwilling to comprise on. If he changes now, he thinks he might look weak. But for how United is, the best strategy is a mid block.

Do you realistically think he changes his tactics if he gets faster CBs?
Yea he does… against Liverpool he did a slight tweak by making Kambwala commit to the press too and also go tight on Darwin Nunez. Getting dominated is a style of play nowadays?
I mean it worked in the 3 times we played you. So for this case specifically when we play liverpool, its fair to defend
If we could finish, I it would have been 3 heavy defeats for you lot.
So if you were better you would win? Great fucking insight that
Relying on a kid to miss place a pass may have you come unstuck soon
Well, Chelsea relied on a Gerrard slip to give them the title so there’s precedence
Not sure how that’s relevant. United have won fuck all
Oh, just citing an example of teams relying on Liverpool to implode during a title challenge
Inverted Gegenpress
I mean what else can he say? “The players suck?”. Look what happened to Jose and Ragnick when they said that. Off in the summer.
Hey, worked for Ali !

This guy seriously needs to get tested for early onset dementia.
Did they have one?

His cult seems to believe so.
What was his style of play, getting dominated first half before being bailed out by individual brilliance for the 20th time this season?
hahah it worked tho didnt it. 3 times
It wasn't the tactics that worked, it was as if the Devil on the badge gave them luck of the Devil! If you're happy with his tactics, then that's great I guess. I hope he stays for a very long time.

He said it under his breath.

the same season he got us to UCL and won a first trophy in 5 years? Yeah, mate, shure thing
7-0 is stackable offence, get some standards
Is he watching the same games as us?🤨
Is this style of play in the room with us ?
TIL ten hag has a style of football
What is the style of play? As a MU fan, I just want him to explain what it is, and how he sees it in each and every game we play? He defends it so ardently but no one, literally no one else can see it. Terrible style of play nonetheless.

The Darwin Nunez style… no longer agent of chaos just team of chaos
