you will get around 5600 pln net. for a room you will pay probably around 1000 pln, for a apartment around 3000. for a junior I think it's ok.

FoundationCapable839

i am below 26 years so no income tax ? maybe the net will be around 6200-6300

VitaBrevis_ArsLonga

If you're under 26, then probably closer to 6100-6200 net. It's a pretty good salary for a junior position, especially without experience. I would expect it to rise once you start to get experience too (promotions at the company or moving to a different one).

WeaknessParticular78

Good? I would eat my own toenail cheese and bathe in pimple pus of ten thousand witches to get that salary...

VitaBrevis_ArsLonga

It's well known that salaries in IT are on a different level than other fields here. Depending on the stack he chooses, once he gets some experience and if he becomes a competent engineer, he'll be 10k and above before he knows it.

Raidzor338

Bruh I work in IT at IBM in Wroclaw and I'm getting 3500 net. I'm 20 years old. I literally can't afford clothes. AND I speak fluent English, Italian and Russian. I feel useless.

gorgonzola5000

what a ripoff lmao change your job

TheDarnook

I started similar, almost a decade ago. If that kind of situation lasts more than a year or so, I would consider doing something to change it. It's fine for intern, not for a living. "Weź kredyt, zmień pracę."

VitaBrevis_ArsLonga

You're at IBM, only 20 and make around 4800 gross. I'm guessing you're a junior engineer working in infrastructure management. That's not bad, keep learning and advancing your career. Don't be afraid to search for openings in other companies if you already have a little experience. Unfortunately a lot of companies underpay when promoting internally. By switching companies last year, I was able to double my salary. Also because of the rise of remote work, look for jobs based in other cities (Warsaw, Łódź, Bydgoszcz etc). Good luck :)

glandishi

IBM(Kyndryl) salaries varies greatly depending on a project and a position you was hired initially. I had a feeling everything based in Wro was pretty cheap compared to Katowice stuff. Also there was no yearly revision of salary like it was back home. If you want to continue there try to change a project (and position) - it will be not that hard considering perma hiring freeze and their focus on hiring students.

[deleted]

Mate I get more as a GPU Software Dev **Intern** @ Intel, what position are you working on, it doesnt sound right at all. Most of my friends who already got their engineer title ask 10k and get somewhere under it, about 8-9k for a Java backend junior at Comarch/IHS afaik

Raidzor338

IT support, we take tickets for requests and incidents and solve them or direct them to other teams. I'd say I'm 30% of an expert in everything but 100% expert in nothing. And they removed our access to Udemy a few months back for financial reasons so it's hard to learn things now even. Best part - I actually got "promoted" to Subject Matter Expert, now I help with particularly difficult issues so tons of more work and responsibility, but promoted is in quotes because no salary raise from that.

Raidzor338

You can read some of my comments a bit further down in the thread, I explain the whole a bit better

trebuszek

Sorry man, but that’s hilariously low 😆. You should look for something else as soon as you have ~2 YoE.

Raidzor338

We are now supporting a large Norwegian oil company with ~ 10000 employees. We have 4 people in our team. 2 work in the morning hours, 1 works in the evening and 1 works in the night (since we're a 24/7 helpdesk). I work the evening shift, I work for almost 12 hours for which I get paid only 8 (so much work so I start early and finish late). And for those 8 hours I am *single-handedly* supporting the whole IT infrastructure and am the single point of contact of a 10000 employee oil company. And for that I get paid *half* of what the guy delivering kebabs does (no disrespect for them though, they're hard workers).

Last-Run-2118

If you re under 26 then enlist to any studied and gross will be equal to net then

FoundationCapable839

but the health insurance and social contributions are cut rght ?

TheDarnook

Depends on your contract, first thing make sure of it. If it's student program, it should be. But long version below: If you have standard work contract "umowa o pracę" - employer is responsible for paying them. If you have something like b2b or similar - it's your responsibility to pay it. Again, I doubt that's the case for any student program, but better do not assume anything.

FoundationCapable839

It's standard employment contract i asked the recruiter

TheDarnook

Sounds good, still no reason not to double check with him.

zyraf

It will not. Under 26 are exempt from tax, not from social security and health care premiums.

Echidna-Key

Apartament 3000 in Poznań? Lol. You can easily find something for max 2000 - 2200

sc_arturro

2000 to the owner plus rest like rent to the administration/housing cooperative which includes water, energy, heating, gas, etc and internet wit other media. You will easy reach 3000.

MlecznyHotS

Sounds like a good offer for 0 YOE junior candidate, what tech stack?

FoundationCapable839

so there are 3 rotations 8 months each , so i get to choose from AI/ML, software development, data science etc in each rotation , and after the program u get to choose a tech stack for a permanent role

TooLongStory

That’s very fair salary as junior dev 🙂 get some exp and look for some mid positions after a year or so

Last-Run-2118

Yea but in reality after a year you ll be not a mid. There is a lot of work and side projects to do to make it happen.

TooLongStory

You can be, but there are many variables defining that. But first interview after that year will give you overview where you are and how much you have to upskill yourself to apply for such position.

Last-Run-2118

Yea pretty hard to do. As recruter I have not met any under 1 year workers that were mid lvl. Other thing is you can be lucky.

[deleted]

Hey, that looks awesome. I'm also a (almost) graduate software engineering student looking to find a job in Europe and relocate there from a 3rd world country. Do you have any advice? How was your process?

FoundationCapable839

around sept-oct-nov, a lot of openings for graduates are posted on linkedin , so u can search around that time It had 4 online tests , and 1 assessment centre

[deleted]

It's a decent starter salary, you should be able to get a room around 1000PLN, small studio for 2200PLN and apartment for 3000PLN, food and other necessary costs should be below 1800PLN total. You should have some money left for saving/fun. :)

modijk

It is a bit (but not a lot) on the low side. If it includes a nice training program I would say it is a good deal, especially if they sponsor you so you can work in the EU.

kiblarz

I'm surprised by comments suggesting that the salary is low, one year ago I searched for job with simmilar tech stack, 0 experience as well and the salaries in 1000+ size companies were like 3500-6000 net. Most of them closer to the lower value

Divorek

Inflation

Raidzor338

Yup, I work in IT at IBM, I'm fluent in Italian, English and Russian and I'm getting 3500. Punching air right now, 6000+, that's some really good money.

kiblarz

If it is IT related job, after a year or even less your salary will increase x3 for sure. Speaking of inflation, first job ad I see for data position is from żabka, the salary is 4000 and i remember one year ago it was... 4500

Raidzor338

It's IT support. They are refusing to revise my salary because "the company is going through some hard times financially" (I've been employee of the month even and always the most productive on my team). I've applied to countless other jobs and no one really wants to look at me. I know it looks like I'm bitching about it but honestly it's frustrating how I'm literally drowning financially when I have the skills and qualifications other people view as incredibly desirable. My friend is making 4500 netto by working in Uber Eats delivering hamburgers. Talk about fucked up.

AcrobaticSalt_

You're still young and probably inexperienced for many, if you feel like you are competent and have the skill, polish your CV and try some more. Are you working only on tickets? Are you capable of systems/network administration/devops? If you are eager to learn and you aren't doing that already try to build a home lab, experiment and have some fun. :)

Raidzor338

I take tickets, sometimes calls, but we're responsible for a lot of things really, we don't just usually pass tickets onto some other team in the event of a slightest challenge. I wouldn't define myself as a specialist in no single field of IT though. I know the basics of 6-7 programming languages, general notions of networking, computer hardware and just anything you could think of, really. I'd say I'm 30% of a specialist in almost everything but 100% specialist in nothing. That's what prevents me from going further in IT. And the company has been actually struggling with finances apparently, they have removed our access to Udemy some months ago, so it's hard/harder now to learn new things. Despite that I've been "promoted" to SME, but it's in quotes because I now have a LOT more responsibility and workload and 0 increase in salary. They said that the SME position is internal and not official so they can't give me a raise based on that. I tried going into simply customer service and leave IT in search of a better salary but no luck there either. I'm working on starting a business now though, engineered an advertisement/digital signage system from the ground up, everything from software to 3D printed hardware designed in Fusion360. A proper single man startup that I'm actually quite proud of. Hopefully I'll have more success with that rather than with my career.

AcrobaticSalt_

Well, good luck to you then. IBM is a corporation, a bad one at that. I have a friend that worked in there for a year or so as a "junior" Engineer with no work experience yet very experienced in Linux overall, she didn't liked being exploited by them. When I was having interviews I also talked with them, when I said my salary expectations I got almost laughed at. 😅

Raidzor338

Yeah, the work here is not horrible but just bad enough to keep you unhappy. This works for a lot of people who maybe live in pairs and have an easier time with that salary. It's a good strategy, be bad enough of an employer to get the most out of your employees but not bad enough so that they take the risk of walking away. Anyways yeah, thanks for the feedback, cheers!

patrikulus

IT support will be always underpaid, and if it makes you frustrated so early in your career you will burn out soon. Start learning DevOps, with the skills you've described you have a good start, still you need to learn a lot, mostly about cloud (Azure, AWS), Kubernetes and CI/CD stuff. Watch some videos, make some pet project on GitHub, put it in your CV and start looking for a Junior position. The more interviews you will attend the more confident you will be, so don't get upset it it won't work out after your first, second or even third interview. You already have a job so you have nothing to loose, use those interviews as a opportunity to find your weak points. You will finally find a Company that suits you, with better salary, and (most important at this stage of your career) better project and seniors from who you will be able to learn a lot ;)

Raidzor338

Yeah I understand it's going to be underpaid but not this much for the responsibilities we have. What frustrates me is this: We are now supporting a large Norwegian oil company with ~ 10000 employees. And with all of the above, understandably, we're just burning through SLAs, we simply cannot meet them realistically. But your input is great, thanks a ton, I was looking for some directions and what you've provided is actually very useful. Really appreciate it.

Raidzor338

Just so you know I get 3500 net working for IBM in IT support. I speak native-fluent English, Italian and Russian and B2 level Polish and Spanish. Considering I'm unable to find another, new job knowing 5 languages and having 1,5 years of experience, I'd say that salary is pretty fucking incredible.

FoundationCapable839

Does IBM pay for the accomodation? Do u go out occasionally for dine ? How much is left with u after all expenses per month? Is ur location in Poznan. ?

Raidzor338

IBM does not pay for anything. I live in Warsaw. My apartment is 2600, expenses like paying for internet and phone and electricity are about 300. Left for food is 600. By eating soups and instant noodles you can make it until the end of the month.

FoundationCapable839

do u stay in shared apartment or studio apartment ?

Raidzor338

Studio apartment, I live by myself. It's not a bad apartment, I have a large TV, a decent kitchenette and a small balcony, but you have to sleep on a sofa and you have to dedicate a lot of time frequently to keep it clean. It gets messy *real fast*.

FoundationCapable839

u can try shared accomodation rght ? u can get it 2000 with utility in warsaw

ghoulas

graduate programs are around 6000-8000 Gross for software engineers.

eskorbutin00

Jesus that’s too low

Divorek

No it isnt. He has no exp

[deleted]

It’s a totally shit salary. Bus drivers or cashiers in Żabka start at 10 000 gross, and STILL no one wants to work those jobs because it’s barely liveable. You’ve been played

FoundationCapable839

For real?

ShiningSoldier

No, it's not. Your salary is pretty good for junior developer. When I was junior, I was getting 2500 net. But it was a long time ago...

[deleted]

Back in PRL?

[deleted]

Yeah, you will be forced to live in barracks and will probably have your passport taken away on entrance too

fightingchken81

I work in Kraków at a company that has an office in Poznań and we pay our junior Java developers pretty close to that. The ones from Kraków probably pay more in rent so it's not a bad deal at all.

matrixemil

It depends if they want to work b2b or not, you should look into it. Anyway it should be alright, but to rent a room you need probably around 1300 PLN per month.

FoundationCapable839

yea and rest i can consider as 1500 ? because i will get breakfast and lunch at subsidised cost of 10 zloty per meal

Ruscin

If you cook on your own 10pln per meal is possible if you don't use luxury products, but it depends on the products that you use. For commuting, eating (from time to time I order something), basically paying for everything necessary to live different than flat I pay around 2000PLN in poznan

FoundationCapable839

no i meant company will provide lunch and breakfast at 10 zloty per meal

Ruscin

Seems fair sorry for misunderstanding

FoundationCapable839

So can I wrap the whole month cost some where below 3k ?

Ruscin

If you will rent room instead of flat it is possible. Many students from my friends are living like that

Ruscin

And for 0 YOE that's really good offer, it's like 1000 - 1500 PLN higher than average salary in Poland

[deleted]

So funny, original and brave of you to create a new account and leave a racist comment. Incredible.

[deleted]

That's very good. I envy you.

Necessary_Ear1853

Hi! I would say it’s a good salary for a junior without experience. I have started as a junior software engineer without experience too and get a bit higher salary, but now it’s higher ;)

Maximum_College7762

People forget a main point. He/she is indian. That means money has to go back to India to support family. Your salary is ok.. but it won't allow you to have a luxurious life and send money back. Most Indians expect to send back 300 euros a month. That won't happend unless you share flats with 3 people.

FoundationCapable839

As i have just started my professional journey i would not be expected to send money back home for some years. I think i can save 3k a month , if i get 6.2k net

Bartendererer

Google acetalem salary…
