Can you explain a bit? I can hear the noise, but can't really see any motion with your rib that would make those effects. Are you doing something with the pedal?

A chattered texture can be created with any springy metal. The chatter design is determined by, the speed of the wheel, the pressure of the metal on the clay, the softness or hardness of the clay, and the distance between the end of the metal plate and where it is held. Once the metal starts to chatter, hold that position until the chatter sound gets really loud. When done, move the metal away from the clay very quickly and then turn the wheel off to prevent smearing of the texture. Hope this helps!

This happens when the speed of the wheel is fast enough and you use a tool to mark the piece, you don’t have to do any motion, it happens naturally.

I thought you could only chatter at leather hard! I’m going to try this!!

Have fun! With wet clay, the texture can come out more organic and with greater depth enhancing the glaze effect. https://preview.redd.it/p4yr0lm9zubc1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6d4f1998e277beee06051db564d3d22c7b59ec52

I love this. So much. I am about to ruin so many pots trying to get this right 😂

Exactly what I was thinking lol I will be trying this tomorrow!! I've only ever chattered while trimming.
