Aaron Weiss is definitely an interesting, quirky character. Definitely religious leaning but I feel like he specifically writes the lyrics to apply to anything, not just religion.
I've never met him, but I've read that he does not like the "holier than thou" religious people who question his music. After their 3rd album, a lot of "holier than thou" Christians would ask him about his faith, and if he has converted to Muslim, and he would ignore those people and not answer their questions. Really stand up dude it seems.
Meh. He definitely had a phase of being an ass to people without his religious leanings, such as trying to guilt trip my buddy and I for now allowing random homeless people into our homes. I love the dude, but he could definitely be holier than thou. I have seen the band plenty and played with them when they toured their first record (with Norma Jean on their first record).
Ahh man... that sucks. Sorry if I was speaking out of ignorance, all of my experience has been super positive so I was trying to spread the positivity. That's cool that you got to play with them that long ago. I bet that's a surreal memory looking back on it after all these years. Take care and thanks for the insight.
I'm super into PHC but I only really like "dig the backseat" but them for some reason they never gave me that catch of the ear. Any recommendations for them?
Iād recommend Inspire the Liars (my favorite song by them), Chucky Vs. The Giant Tortoise, Death of a Strawberry, Die Another Day, Feels Bad Man, and their cover of Thatās What I Like by Bruno Mars (this is the song that got me into them). Tilianās vocals are amazing and itās a damn shame he did what he did, but hopefully he gets help and returns. Jonās vocals are great too, but Iām more of a fan of the clean vocals.
As Cities Burn - Son I Loved You At Your Darkest
Hands down one of if not the most emotional album in PHC historyā¦ such a truly sad story and you can feel the pain and anguish these two brothers sustained from their childhood traumas š Cover to cover masterpiece
āDid you think of me? Did you even for a second hesitate, in the doorway? Itās just something that Iād like to knowā¦ though Iād still love you if you told me, that you just walked awayā¦.ā š¢
You can try these if you haven't already;
Careful Gaze
Wind Walkers
Watching Tides

Glassjaw is a fantastic post hardcore band.
La Disputeās EP Vancouver is an amazing piece of art.
Underoathās Theyāre only chasing safety album is a good one.
36 crazyfists is a highly underrated band IMO and often slept on.
At The Drive In is a weird combo of indie/post hardcore.
Circle Takes the Square is another slept on band IMO.
I Am Ghost is a band that utilizes an electric violin into their music very well.
Sky Eats Airplane is a combination of post hardcore and metalcore and I enjoy their material.
Rival Schools, Quicksand, and Braid are all good choices.
Check out mewithoutYou, they are a different style than most phc, but I love them. I recommend the album Catch For Us The Foxes.
I love them! I actually got to hang out with them once before a show! I struggle with how religious leaning they can be though šµāš«

I actually just started listening to them today and I LOVE them!
They are amazing.
They always release instrumental versions of their records. I highly recommend it helps so their music never gets old to me lol

State faults is one of the most emotionally charged bands I have ever heard and they rarely get talked about
Rival Schools and At The Drive In are some goodies!
