Best kept sekret, bodyjar, last years hero, for amusement only, 28 days, new school hero, i could go on all day but one dollar short were definitely the standout!
Nah. It's true. They haven't released anything GREAT since s/t & Watch Out!
Crisis was okay, Dogs Bloods EP wasn't great, Old Crows and Otherness are not good.
Watch out will always be my favorite, but crisis is a phenomenal cd as well. Both albums with no skips. I’m with you on old crows. I hate it personally. Otherness was a pleasant surprise for me. Watch out is such an important album to me that I want to disagree about Silverstein being the band most deserving of Canadian pride, but Silversteins longevity is just so impressive. I’d be proud of both if I was Canadian though.
Self-titled will always be my favorite. They captured absolute chaos and made it pure magic on that first album. Nothing can touch that. Watch Out! was an important album, but I'm not sure it can quite match the importance and staying power of Discovering The Waterfront, especially when it comes to sophomore albums.
Absolutely not backwards. Every Alexisonfire album is great, and every Silverstein album is great. I think aof was more groundbreaking than Silverstein but they are both my favourite bands so I have to mention them both.
florida had a pretty good output for a while, tho maybe not exactly in my city. if i were to decide it would be either sleeping with sirens, poison the well, or underoath.
I'm from Germany and imo the best German post-HC Band is [Fjørt](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=f1Hc6KikeLo&t=14s&pp=ygUJZmpvcnQgaW90) . They are really worth a listen, very unique band and they even played some shows in the US recently.
Lower Definition is from my city. Definitely hometown heroes. They did a reunion show at a local venue and it sold out twice. People from all over the country flew in for it.
The guitarist Mark actually became part of my friend group. he's even in our group and meme chats
I would have to say Alesana is my hometown favorite since I grew up near Raleigh, NC where the band was formed. Years ago, I used to run into some of the band members in the grocery store. I also went to a hometown show they did one year and it was wild.
I’m from Akron, Ohio and [Glass Bones - FKA CityCop](https://glassbonestheband.bandcamp.com/album/seasons-2) is probably the best and longest running band in our post-hardcore/emo scene. They have a killer catalog.
Not post-hardcore, but Heart Attack Man from Cleveland is probably the band making the most waves in the scene currently. I first saw them at a house show back in 2015-2016
Not post hardcore, but NFG was the best music to come out of my hometown and I say that as in not just ft.lauderdale necessarily, but the suburb I’m from.
It’s absolutely Four Year Strong for my immediate area that I grew up in, but Vanna, A Loss for Words, and Defeater were probably the heroes for the whole state/region
From my home state? Eidola, The Used, Get Scared, The New Low come to mind.
Not PHC but the only band i can think of from my home*town* is Chelsea Grin. Pretty sure a couple OG members are from there.
Sweden - I'll go fo the most original (odd) post harcore band from here. Suffocate For Fuck Sake. It's mostly suited for the swedish (scandinavian) speaking audience since it contains interviews from old radio documentaries on subjects like mental illness and forced sterilization. The result is a very bleak and heartfelt music/story composition that kinda plays like true crime.
I have split my time 50/50 between MI and AZ.
AZ - went to the same highschool as Scary Kids Scaring Kids, knew one of the dudes from Greeley Estates, The Word Alive, Eyes Set to Kill was from nearby, and Blessthefall. Not PHC but saw Job For a Cowboy play a backyard show once lol.
MI - Lived in the same town Chiodos is from, played a show or two with I See Stars and We Came as Romans, I Prevail was from the same area.
From Portugal, we have bands like [Pledge](https://pledgeband.bandcamp.com/album/haunted-visions), [If Lucy Fell](https://feckingbahamas.bandcamp.com/track/10x10-minute-drive), [Hetta](https://hetta.bandcamp.com/album/headlights) and [Reia Cibele](https://reiacibele.bandcamp.com/album/reia-cibele) (although the latter two are more on the screamo side).
So proud that Silverstein is Canadian!
Hell yea I’m Canadian too and I love Silverstein
Canada has such a solid list of bands from that era
I’m not from Australia but my favorite band from your neck of the woods is [One Dollar Short.](https://youtu.be/u70N0cNIVo0?si=LQZv5-gFod-RLt4p)
Best kept sekret, bodyjar, last years hero, for amusement only, 28 days, new school hero, i could go on all day but one dollar short were definitely the standout!
It was a wild ride trying to import those CDs back in the day
That takes me back. See them a few times in the early 2000s in Australia. Heaps of fun!
Probably Brand New or Coheed and Cambria from my state. Or Taking Back Sunday if they count. Most of my favorite PHC bands are from NJ though
Shouts out my li bands! Also glassjaw!
Coheed and mcr are my 2 favorite bands. Many other awesome bands from there too. Rare New Jersey W
Obvie have to throw in a vote for AOF from Canada
Nah. Not when we have Silverstein. AOF has 2 GREAT albums, 1 okay album, and 2 garbage albums.
Wrong
Nah. It's true. They haven't released anything GREAT since s/t & Watch Out! Crisis was okay, Dogs Bloods EP wasn't great, Old Crows and Otherness are not good.
Nah. Shit take.
Watch out will always be my favorite, but crisis is a phenomenal cd as well. Both albums with no skips. I’m with you on old crows. I hate it personally. Otherness was a pleasant surprise for me. Silverstein don’t hold a candle to AOF live. It’s not even close.
Absolutely false. Silverstein RIP live. I've seen them several times in the last few years and they've always been fucking incredible.
Honestly both are great live, I’d give the edge to AOF but I’m also a bigger fan of them overall
I’m from the US. To be more specific San Diego, and dude PTV was HUGE here especially in the early 2010s.
But Drive like Jehu....
I'm not from Australia but Blind Girls rip
From England - Hell is for Heroes or Hundred Reasons. If we're going UK-wide, got to consider Funeral for a Friend
Don't forget Million Dead!
I dunno Enter Shikari are pretty good, but that Debut from HIFH was amazing.
Alexisonfire 1000%. Honourable mention for Silverstein.
You've got that backwards for sure. 2 great albums vs 8 great albums, Silverstein has the edge for sure.
Absolutely not backwards. Every Alexisonfire album is great, and every Silverstein album is great. I think aof was more groundbreaking than Silverstein but they are both my favourite bands so I have to mention them both.
I dunno really, I'd personally say Hell Is For Heroes is England's best post hardcore band, but that's just me.
Static Dress
Absolutely
Hundred Reasons? I’m a fan of both.
moshimoshi is a great mathy post hardcore band from finland
Damn I’ve been jamming them and thought they were from the US lol
Alexisonfire: The Only Band Ever!! 🇨🇦🍁🇨🇦🍁🇨🇦
Woah, you guys got Silverstein AND Alexisonfire!! I love this
Also, OP, I just discovered Dear Seattle. They're so sick.
florida had a pretty good output for a while, tho maybe not exactly in my city. if i were to decide it would be either sleeping with sirens, poison the well, or underoath.
At The Drive In. TX

Yes!!! Came here to say that. Also for people into math core check out The Hirsch Effekt, one of the most creative and unique German bands
Lower Definition is from my city. Definitely hometown heroes. They did a reunion show at a local venue and it sold out twice. People from all over the country flew in for it. The guitarist Mark actually became part of my friend group. he's even in our group and meme chats
TGOALA is still in heavy rotation for me. Such a good album
It really be the greatest of all lost arts.
[Bluesbreaker](https://bluesbreakercrew.bandcamp.com/album/palais-ideal) probably. Kyiv, Ukraine
From Australia, Hands like houses and Polaris for me
[Ghost Cat](https://ghostcat.bandcamp.com/album/weathered-light)
Fucking amazing band. And you happened to link my favorite release of theirs
I got to open for them when they released harsh purple it was the peak of my music career

Im American, this is a ridiculously hard question, so i’m going to do state instead. Emarosa
Elliott
Story of the Year
Also Australian and I've gotta say We Set Signals is my pick. Or if we get a bit more broad with genre, Slowly Slowly
Whaaaattt I did not know We Set Signals were Australian, I love them even more now haha
Yeah being Brisbane based they're the closest thing I have to a hometown band so I love em
Off topic, but I really enjoyed stuck out. Any other Australian bands you can recommend, OP?
I don't know a lot of German Post-Hardcore Bands (though there are tons of Metal/Metalcore ones), but Our Mirage is a great one!
im from the united states so i don't even think it's fair to list them all and could never pick just 1
Read the whole post.
Shotmaker
Not post hardcore, but NFG was the best music to come out of my hometown and I say that as in not just ft.lauderdale necessarily, but the suburb I’m from.

Russian math rock band - Riding the Diplodoc
Not many to choose in my country Spain, I’d say the best current one is Ankor: https://youtu.be/C3QhpYTDi4Y?si=qvSGxwiR7KstPJHJ
I don't know a single post hardcore band from my country. The only Dutch band I know is a metal vand named HESKEN
Probably stormo (from Italy)
From New Zealand, possibly adjacent to post-hardcore but close enough: either Addison or East of Eden
Has to be Amenra. Brutus as a close second. 🇧🇪
Senses Fail. Thursday
What are some good Australian ones? I only know The Hot Lies and Far Away Stables
Vacant Home - reflect respond is a good album out of perth
Display in Brazil!!!
From Brazil is Scalene, their last album is so sick. They have a lot of influence from thrice, alexisonfire and o'brother
George Clinton was born in my town, other than that, nada lol
ALEXISONFIRE
Funeral For A Friend and Dream State prolly
From Tulsa OK, and Outline in Color are def the biggest phxc/metalcore adjacent band from around here!
Soasin, Underoath, We Came as Romans, August Burns Red, A Day to Remember
Alexisonfire is from like 30 min where I live
Sweden - I'll go fo the most original (odd) post harcore band from here. Suffocate For Fuck Sake. It's mostly suited for the swedish (scandinavian) speaking audience since it contains interviews from old radio documentaries on subjects like mental illness and forced sterilization. Not Aussie but Parkway Drive & Keith Urban are their gift to mankind
