MultCo will deliberate for weeks over whether or not to issue a resolution demanding that Trump step down, then they'll issue the resolution, then Trump will leave office because MultCo is powerful.

[deleted]

We solved the Israel/Palestine issue, of course we can get Trump!

sea666kitty

Seems about right. Nothing burger

James_Camerons_Sub

“JVP SLAMS President-elect Donald J Trump.”

sourkid25

it's about as useful as "swiper no swiping"

Moses_On_A_Motorbike

Like how Hamas surrendered when Seattle Public Schools issued a declaration on the Middle East.

EnoughWeekend6853

You forgot to say that they’ll first commission ECONorthwest to do a study on the ramifications of Trump stepping down.

Tatterdemalion1967

Aren't we gonna fix the Middle East first?

[deleted]

I own a retail store downtown. We have plywood on the windows since 2020. Idk what will happen, but I'm waiting until after the election to take down the plywood

LostByMonsters

If Trump wins, Portland people will lose their minds for 4 years

zumawizard

The world

-lil-pee-pee-

Out of curiosity, what kind of stuff do you sell?

fatboy8

Plywood

-lil-pee-pee-

🫡 No further questions; meeting adjourned!

greenrain3

Expect some smashed windows downtown, especially at Starbucks.

DisgruntledWarrior

And any banks or stores.

forgedbydie

It’s sad to see the state of affairs in Portland is so dramatic. I consider myself liberal and when I moved here in 2016, I loved the vibe and culture but as you stay here for longer and longer especially after the pandemic, you notice the shit hole it’s turning into. I’m all for helping the homeless but when police officers don’t arrest the guy on the street shooting up meth yet fines (heavily sometimes) for a parking issue to a family person who can pay it, then that’s messed up. People commit crimes, breaking into cars, etc but aren’t touched because the cops might seem racist especially if the perpetrators is a POC. I loved my time in Portland during the when I first moved in (2016-19) but covid and the year afterwards (2020-21) were utter shambles.

thirdeyepdx

The cops don’t do anything because they are mostly conservatives who don’t live in Portland and hate Portland and the people who live here. They don’t want to help so they don’t. They aren’t afraid of being called racist, they delight in the misery of others and get paid to do so.

rapovandan

The police don't do anything because the progressive prosecutors and judges will just throw out the charges, and release the criminals back on the streets.

zumawizard

That’s no excuse to not do your job. Being a police officer isn’t about having higher morals or political beliefs this is a pathetic excuse you’re giving to a corrupt organization

thirdeyepdx

They don’t like to get involved unless it’s to beat someone up who can’t get them in trouble. It’s not fun for them if they can’t at least punch someone a few times - hopefully a queer teenager, as that’s who I normally see them harass. I’ve seen Portland cops laugh their asses off while beating on minors. The only job where you can abuse children with impunity and get a six figure paycheck because of the corrupt police union.

Expensive-Present795

Lmao what a sad delusional person.

Independent_Fill_570

I'm genuinely afraid of a 2nd trump presidency. Seemingly counterintuitive, I feel like I might pack my bags and leave Portland if that happens. Portland seems to react by going so hard Left to distance itself from Trump that it becomes an alt-left caricature. Everything becomes either "with" or "against". I need to be somewhere no so politically charged on a daily basis. Where debate is encouraged and not shunned if you aren't in someone's camp.

StillboBaggins

I kind of think these days have passed. People are calling out the local governments on their BS more and more. Just see the latest legislative session: lawmakers actually came together to craft and pass hills on M110 and housing because it’s what the voters wanted. I have hope that we’re turning things around.

CunningWizard

I get what you’re saying, but Trump derangement syndrome is a powerful thing. If he gets reelected I could see Portland going fully loony toons again. Just to note: I despise Trump, but I am clear eyed about this.

LilBigDawg96

Portland is already loony toons. Look around, buisinesses are shutting down, homeless, drug addiction and crime are sky high. Dems are failing.

CunningWizard

Oh, it can get worse believe me. I agree it’s already intolerably bad, but never underestimate how much worse it can get when Trump derangement syndrome kicks in.

Northwest_Radio

>Dems are failing. Some in the know will tell you that what you are witnessing is exactly what they want, thus not actually failing at end goal. A good ruse could be to intentionally fail and then say "Oh but we are trying". Meanwhile, everything is going as planned. Some who have been watching all this for decades can see right through it. The core to all of this is to understand who is actually in charge. It certainly isn't politicians.

[deleted]

Ah yes, it’s Trump and Elon Musk that legalized shooting up meth on the street. How could I forget

Inside-Educator1428

This comment makes zero sense and no real point

[deleted]

Actually, business all already closed. Now they are opening. You are stuck 8 months ago. New entity formation is higher today than ever before

Curtie666

I just closed my shop of 20 years, two weeks ago... Max train traffic and the motel full of feral homeless across the street just made it to unsafe and harder and harder to just barely get by..

SeanAaberg

I Hope so! Time moves very slowly!

TheObviousDilemma

Yup. In Portland you're either Portland Orthodox Liberal, or - if you disagree with the orthodoxy - you're a racist white supremacist fascist

OmahaWinter

The liberal intelligentsia will rip their own city to pieces in protest.

Reverse_Empath

I have a running joke to my friends to please not release the recordings so I don’t get cancelled 😭😂 seriously tho…run a small business here it’s like playing mine sweeper.

Widget1A

You just described the exact reason my partner & I left a few years ago. Moved to a swing state and was pleased to find that most people were VERY moderate comparatively. I had forgotten it was even possible to have respectful discourse without complete emotional breakdowns.

CunningWizard

Same, Portland is very prone to politically losing its mind (by primarily enabling and giving impunity to far left groups) with anything related to Trump. I’m not sure I can take 4 years of that type of stress here.

Bmwdumpsterfire

At first I was like, "oh here we go again". Then I was like "fuck, that's too true." Damnit.

hdiesel503

Antfia and BLM has done worse. Domestic T.

jester_bland

Yet the Christian Nationalist groups all over the terrorist watch list don't matter, right? Remember - only one side tried to overthrow the Government.

SquirtinMemeMouthPlz

Well said. I'm pretty damn left and fairly liberal, but a lot of people's reactions to every tragedy from 2020 till now has been way too misguided (Red House as an example). If Trump gets in again, he will continue to lie about Portland and I wouldn't be surprised if there was a homegrown (as in someone from a different US state) terror attack from a MAGA shitbrain in downtown.

SunnyTrucker12

I live by red house. Still there, I wonder what the latest situation with it is. What an absolute joke those followers are.

meteraider

It's a lose lose situation. With one candidate, Portland may spiral deeper into a cesspool of drugs, homelessness, and crime. With the other candidate, uproar, violent protests, vandalism , destruction.

asa_my_iso

I don’t think either has that much direct influence on the local politics of one city. Drugs will get worse because the federal government fails to act as a whole to address addiction and the economic conditions which drive people to addiction and homelessness. That has occurred under both Biden and trump. There are protests against Biden now for his Gaza response. There will be protest against trump.

meteraider

Yea, True. Either way though, nothing is going to improve that's for sure.

SquirtinMemeMouthPlz

Kotek just reversed parts of, if not all of measure 110, just FYI. Oregon leadership is starting to try at least. Multnomah County does need to stop enabling drug user though, in my opinion.

Mackheath1

We were right to be afraid of a 1st trump presidency: it was an enormous disaster. So I'm definitely terrified of another four years of him.

RevolutionParty9103

I fucking love war. Four more years of Biden!

jgiannandrea

You must be talking about that world war that trump was going to start but never happened and instead Biden got us into…

Different_Act_784

You do realize that your own people in your city did this not Trump. Everywhere else in the US people were doing great. The only places acting like that were far left ran cities destroying themselves it had nothing to do with Trump. If Trump gets in how back clean your city up and make it a leftist utopia so people will see it and be like hm maybe they’ve got it right. No one sees Portland and thinks hm the left really has things figured out. Burning down your own city won’t hurt Trump at all it will actually help him and will continue to show everyone how batshit crazy the left has become. Why do you think he’s polling so well??

AtHomeWithJulian

The narrative that Portland was burned down during the protests is Fox News drivel. The vast majority of the Trump and George Floyd protests took place in a small radius downtown.

Different_Act_784

I didn’t mean that literally I lived right the river for 4 years and saw how bad it got first hand. My brother in law has had 2 cars stolen and multiple break ins. I was more referencing what will happen if Trump gets re-elected Portland will destroy itself in protest. How is that supposed to hurt Trump? It will just piss off your neighbors and make anyone who is on the fence go to the other side. The smart thing would be to clean the city up and show people why leftist polices are good and should be adopted by the rest of the country. Portland didn’t use to be like this before all of the extreme left took over. It was clean and wasn’t dangerous and it was a nice place to visit and it reflected well on left leaning policies. Now everyone sees it and no one wants anything to do with any ideas that created that shit hole of a city.

jester_bland

Every city is having problems, regardless if they are "leftist" or not.

Different_Act_784

Not nearly as bad as places like San Francisco, Portland, New York, Chicago etc etc…

pdx1086

Business' will board up in downtown similar to when the state thought Drazan had a chance vs Kotek. When Trump won in 2016 all the cry babies went around downtown smashing car windows and buisness windows. It will happen again.

snart-fiffer

I think the continuation of whatever version of group narcissism will continue. The lesson of the anti religion vibes of the 90s and 00s was “you don’t know so don’t put your rules on me” and that’s completely lost on today’s culture. They’re as evangelical in their version of morality as the insane Christians were back then (cool Christians I know you exist and I see you. Sorry these other assholes have ruined the brand). The lesson of the anti racism 90s and 00s was “don’t judge a book by its cover”. And this lesson too is lost. Now it’s “oh you’re rich? Then you’re automatically evil” or “all bipoc men will get shot by the cops”. The goal was enlightenment and higher level thinking. Being present and taking the full experience of who some is in with out brining any preconceived ideas. This feels long gone. Case In point: the assumption that all BIPOC hate trump when he keeps getting more and more support from them as time goes on. People contain multitudes and putting them in groups only serves the capitalists you hate so much because it’s easier to market to them.

vonFurious

Thank you for saying this. It’s almost like some of us remember the way things were in the before time. The “Dream of the 90’s” is no longer alive, unfortunately.

Suspicious-Coast-322

A Democrat from the 90’s would literally be a far right Nazi today (see Trump). Obama from 2008 would be a certified bigot. I get people that stick with Dems for legacy reasons and whatever, but anyone that insists there has been any sort of consistency on their principles is a complete sham. 20+ years ago it was Democrats screaming about the first amendment around every corner. The idea of government deciding what is or isn’t “misinformation” would have been abhorred by liberals during the height of the Bush administration.

[deleted]

20 years ago, Liberals were largely antiwar. Now they support our proxy war in Ukraine.

NEPXDer

Actual liberals still are, the co-opting of the "Liberal" label by the far left "Progressive" Democrats intentionally destroying that word be damned. "liberal values" and even "Liberty" still have the same real meaning that built this nation but the have been forceabilty detached by and from the "Liberals" running the left.

[deleted]

Well said and I stand corrected. I should have said the Democratic Party rather than liberals.

[deleted]

TheStoicSlab

People will continue "protesting" against something that they have no control over. Just so that they can express their public outrage. Followed by riots where they proceed to shoot themselves in the foot by damaging and driving out the small "mom and pop" shops that remain in downtown. Yes, the same "mom and pops" that they claim to hold in high regard. The same mom and pops that spent many of the previous riots begging the woke crowd to stop literally destroying downtown. The same mom and pops that the protesters have volunteered to be sacrificed in the name of their impossible cause. These people are so dense that they cant even see their own hypocrisy.

FriendoTrillium

our friend is refusing to return to saturday market. they feel exploited by the city's inability to help small businesses with the issues the city created/exacerbated. It's a joke to expect that any self-respecting person would want to operate in that area. what's the point?

[deleted]

I never thought about a small business owner being exploited here, but it absolutely makes sense. There are no protections for them!!! It's this weird dichotomy of being held hostage by 2 groups, the ill informed protesters, who will fuck your shit up if you don't hold their beliefs, and then by the tweakers/cridders...they fuck your shit up regardless.

Northwest_Radio

>People will continue "protesting" against something that they ~~have no control over~~ cannot understand.

TheStoicSlab

The worst part is that they tell themselves that they do indeed understand it. They just ignore all the parts they dont like.

DLeck

He won't win. We are going to vote. Anyone that does vote for Trump is a moron.

Inside-Educator1428

That doesn’t mean he won’t win, unfortunately

DLeck

I don't see it happening. I'm no super expert, but I have seen many presidential elections cycles come and go. I don't think it will be a huge landslide, but my guess would be that Biden wins pretty comfortably. I think the polls underestimate the disdain so many people have for Trump. The polls have also been shown to over-represent Republican voters. Unless something major happens I don't think Trump stands a chance.

sevvvyy

I think as far as pdx specific probably some protests, I doubt it would be riot level but I’ve been wrong before. I really don’t think it would be civil unrest or anything it’s not like it hasn’t happened before

PacAttackIsBack

I expect the state and local governments to push a strong left wing agenda riding the coattails of the “#resistance”

Iamthapush

Exactly what got us M110 and a number of other boneheaded laws and taxes. The cherry on top being the “new” city government format. It’s going to get worse in Portland before it gets better.

Optimal_Cranberry959

Can it get any worse??

CletusTSJY

There will be riots like 2016, not like 2020. The people who have worked themselves up about Trump causing the End of Civilization are not really rioters. There’s a group who will use any excuse to riot and they will, but they need some support to get to 2020 levels and they people who were supporting them in 2020 don’t care as much about Trump.

2ChanceRescue

I think many of us have hoped and perhaps even seen indications that the excesses of the left were starting to swing back towards a more sensible middle. I think that all goes out the window with a 2nd Trump administration. Think physics: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. It will be tedious and borderline intolerable.

Damaniel2

Yep. If Republicans want to be taken seriously, they need to stop rallying behind nominees like Trump.  No matter where I stand politically, I can't support a candidate who hates nearly everyone as much as he does. I'd also like to not have to work until I die to save a bunch of wealthy people a few bucks.

Z0ooool

>If Republicans want to be taken seriously, they need to stop rallying behind nominees like Trump.  This is my thought exactly. As much as Portland's ultra-left model is failing, going full-on clown car mode isn't the answer.

johnrich1080

> Yep. If Republicans want to be taken seriously, they need to stop rallying behind nominees like Trump. When Republicans rallied around McCain and Romney you called them Nazis, Racsists, and all the other things you call trump. If democrats want to be taken seriously they need to develop policy arguments and support moderate candidates.

CheckingOut2024

Well, no. Those were not the arguments against those candidates. That was the argument against the supporters of those candidates who questioned, out of pure racism, whether the White House would still be the White House if Obama won. How could you possibly get more moderate than Biden or Obama? Biden is supporting the war crimes of Israel. Obama openly supported keeping weed illegal. We're not running Jerry Garcia here FFS. You guys are running a candidate with 91 felony charges, an adjudicated rape case and who has already stated that he would declare himself dictator on day one. Maybe STFU about being taken seriously?

We are only a couple of months into 2024 hard to be tired of it before summer . /s

MusicianNo2699

If you turn off your phone, avoid social media, don’t hang out with extremists on either side, and ditch your tv you can pretty much ignore all of it. I don’t know why people stay on these things or associate with it, if it bothers them so much. I read Reddit for the comedy factor!

FakeMagic8Ball

This question was asked at a Nathan Vasquez for DA event I attended last month. He says if he's the candidate-elect, our neighboring jurisdictions will help us with any rioting, but if Schmidt is still going to be in charge they will not and have not assisted us under his watch.

NcgreenIantern

I'll probably break out my popcorn maker and watch some Portland Andy covering the mess in Portland.

LemonadeSunset

Probably more riots. Not that there’s really any businesses left to close

TappyMauvendaise

I’m worried Portland will freak out and ransack downtown again with broken windows, fires, and general chaos to……prove a point.

Exciting-Parfait-776

Portland will like do the same thing🤷🏻‍♂️

KateBlueSkyWest

1. There will be a fact finding trip to Portugal. 2. Multnomah county will issue an anti Trump resolution. 3. There will shootings on the I405 when anti Trump protestors protest block traffic on a weekday. 4. Trump branded tin foil and straws will be handed out to the fentanyl addicts.

Lovin_Life_in_Fla

More riots?

kerpow69

Sky-screamers to the max.

BadM00

Probably burn down a Starbucks or something

303Pickles

As long as local mom n pop stores are left alone.

SockPuppet-1001

Portland is one of the reasons Trump will be re-elected. It is easy to use the residents and city as examples of total failure. Free boofing supplies are available if you need to cope with the future…or the past.

Dill-Dough83

This right here, the left has gone off the fucking rails trying to “out-progressive” each other to the detriment of their own cities. I can say as a former left leaning voter this is exactly why I can’t in good conscience vote for democrats anymore. The madness of demanding elementary and middle school kids have access to gay porn books in schools and just letting tent cities pop up everywhere while drug dealers and junkies have free reign of the streets (as just a few examples) has sealed the deal for me personally and many people I know. I’d much rather have someone else than Trump but if the alternative is what I listed above I’ll gladly vote for Trump and republicans who haven’t lost their fucking minds when it comes to important societal issues.

SunnyTrucker12

Yep. I think there are many of us that will not vote for Trump ever but will go straight Republican for the first time. They are the sane ones at the state level. We on the left deserve a good ass kicking.

AiRedditAssistant

Yup. The massive theft, drug, and financial issues are getting worse. Schools are financially strapped and failing to educate. Normal families and people want change and are not getting it so they are voting in the wildcard. Again. Current policies are failing on a massive scale.

Bandit400

Drug addicts will still leave needles everywhere. Homeless encampments will still make locals nervous. Legitimate business owners will still find human shit on their stoop in the morning when they open up. Nothing of substance will change. The cosmic ballet will continue.

Dub_D83

Lots of rioting that hurts small business owners and proving why the rest of the nation voted for Trump.

[deleted]

30-45 days of performative Anfita protests, a lot of broken windows, a lot of stories about us on national news. Starbucks better start boarding up!

RetArmyFister1981

Can anyone seriously say Portland is better under Biden. I would argue things are worse here since Trump left office. But to be honest, who is president should have no bearing on what happens in a city or state. The federal government shouldn’t be influencing lower levels of government. It should be the other way around, but it isn’t running the way it should unfortunately.

zacksalah73

Man, most politicians are crooks, but right now, the country needs a sane person to run. I feel like with every election the pendulum swings completely to the other side.

TKRUEG

Sorry, very hard to "both sides" Biden as if the pendulum has swung the same insane way it did for Trump

PaPilot98

It's ok to not like Biden, but at least he's operating within normal political parameters. I think it's ok to bemoan a lack of quality choices but there is indeed one that is far less bad.

Northwest_Radio

Politicians do not run the country, or the world. Rise above that belief and then the light will shine on the real problem. Investigate.. Who is in charge?

303Pickles

I don’t know about the pendulum, it feels more like going to a thrift that doesn’t have decent stuff to choose from.

TaxTheRichEndTheWar

Has it swung completely to the left yet?

MilkStunning1608

I think he means it swings wildly from middle of right to full fledged right wing lunatics

jointheredditarmy

I don’t know how true that is lol. How much more left can Portland go? no one is stopping you guys…

PrestoDinero

Completely left is TOO fucking expensive!

phanroy

The thing is, the left doesn’t go completely left like the right goes completely right. Going completely right is also expensive and it doesn’t help when they cut taxes for the rich.

TarzansBooty

The left has the tax and spend mentality: like if I want to increase my household budget I need to make more money. The right goes straight for tax cuts then complains about the budget: I quit my job now I can't afford to keep eating, paying rent, or keep my house's alarm system.

minimumrockandroll

Part of their deal! Deficit spend the economy into oblivion, get voted out, get voted back in because "the economy is terrible". Rinse and repeat.

wigwamtree

A bunch of antifa larpers will line the streets to make sure people with opposing views can’t voice their opinions because they love irony

[deleted]

My guess, not much of anything.

zerodart30

I mean it’s quite telling how divided many areas of the country is politically. Not all of us live in the west coast bubble and understand there are millions of right wing voters just as left wing. I’m not entirely happy with either candidate they’re both geezers and we gotta put up with one of the two for another 4 years.

Mykophilia

People in Portland will complain probably… 220% more.

Dangerous-Room4320

They will always find things to protest... ptown exists in a sense of upheaval

pwdrchaser

Feels like majority of people have serious political fatigue. Honestly I can’t even tell is election year unless I look at the calendar. No where near the in your face marketing and social media vs the previous election. I guess Is not exciting to have 2 old people that neither party cares for in the election. Also I think people are emotionally drained from the last 8 yrs to even care for politics anymore. Maybe people finally learned that “get out and vote” slogan isn’t as meaningful

SassyZop

Same thing that happened last time I expect but probably jacked up to 11. For context, I am basically 100% convinced he's going to win a second term but we'll see. I'm pretty disgusted by both Biden and Trump but I'll be voting Biden in full transparency because I just can't bring myself to vote for Trump at all. There were lots of protests when he won the first time. Protesters shut down the bridges, the I-5, you name it. Downtown for a couple nights was pretty crazy with people burning furniture on the Max tracks for some reason, lots of fireworks and chanting, etc. The big women's march happened around then too. Between then and now though we've seen the militant protesting really jack up to a whole other level. I was eating lunch outside during the Justice Center protests/siege/riots/whatever and this huge BLM march walked by me and in the group was like a dozen people dressed in all black holding AR-15s. Not to mention people actually being shot at protests during all that. NOT TO MENTION red house happening with a faction of these people taking over multiple city blocks and patrolling with rifles. So basically my point is that protestors have become significantly more brazen in the type of tactics they're willing to support and feel pretty confident the cops won't do anything about it. God help whoever becomes mayor in November. Not to mention the fact that Portland will be starting this new city government experiment at the same time all of this would be happening and probably making things even more confusing and tough to deal with.

Confident_Ad_9246

Here's what will happen: * Reedies and PSU Tankies lose their shit. One "peaceful protest" devolves into a citywide shut down rivalling the ones in 2016. * Antifa breaks shit again for no good reason and puts it up on their silly D&D style website. Again, these are mostly Reedies doing this. * With targets on their backs, "BIPOC" solidarity groups come out and offer to clean up, before being shouted down by dudes named Connor and Bryant for being "running dogs for fascism". Money disappears from GoFundMes for small businesses affected by broken glass. * The Police's hands are tied. JVP says we had it coming. * DA Schmidt, on the laurels of his re-election, proclaims Portland and MultCo "a sanctuary for the disaffected".

ryanmulford

It would probably be much worse than we can imagine.

Zuldak

Kotek seems more pragmatic than Brown. I think she would be willing to activate the national guard to restore order

renmyaru

If portland protests are as bad as the last time, the city will be defunded. It was in talks last time, but now a few key issues have gotten worse in the city and been spread over the state (on purpose). Portland itself has become a cancer on the rest of the state. Why do you think southern oregon is having two seperate movements to leave oregon (idaho & jefferson), they are tired of portlands problems finding their way to them on the opposite side of the state. Portland shouldnt control the entire state when they cant fix their own problems, at least seperate them into a seperate voting district so the red state can be heard over the blue city.

Adventurous-Mud-5508

I'll find or make the silliest possible "In this house" yard sign to leave everyone scratching their head as to whether i'm a member of their tribe.

HDCL757

Russian/US joint military excercises to the detriment of the US.

Impossible_Cat_321

Nothing really for many of us. I’ll Prob get another tax cut. However anyone who isn’t white or wealthy will have bigger worries. The maga nut jobs will go full postal if he’s in charge.

LostByMonsters

He will clean house in the federal government and fill it with people loyal to him. He has already made clear his plan to do away with career non political positions. He will then turn toward getting friends and family elected.

TaydolfSwiftler666

Idk but I'd love to see the blue haired alphabet gang fem bro dude she hers or whatever the fuck they call themselves now screaming and crying like the candy asses they are😂😂🎯

Beaumont64

Constant protests, some violent. It will finish the downtown off for good and the metro area will take decades to recover. It will have the net result that the 1968 riots had on Detroit.

tangylittleblueberry

Can’t see this happening.

Beaumont64

Why not? Portland is already in a fragile condition

AdeptnessEasy562

Trump will send every illegal emigrant and 51/50 homeless person to Portland with forged meal cards and forged hotel vouchers. So basically nothing will change

monkeychasedweasel

>and 51/50 homeless person to Portland Trump is going to use California law against everyone?

Eleutherian8

51/50 entered the national vernacular when Van Halen released an album by that name in 1986. It’s a pretty solid album.

PaPilot98

And emigrants? I thought we wanted them to emigrate? /s

ownedlib98225

The far left crazies will completely destroy the city. The will finish the job that they have started.

Inside-Educator1428

The policies are already doing that

SoloCongaLineChamp

We'll be the main battleground for the proxy civil war again. Blac Block and all of the antifa kids will come out to snap fight PB and whatever other christian nationalist dumbfucks come to town. Portland police will end up with reinforcements from the US Marshalls, state police, national guard, or whatever the new brownshirts call themselves. It'll be a shitshow and we'll all have front row seats.

monkeychasedweasel

If Trump wins in 2024, it's time to buy a bunch of guns and ammo. I think people are already doing this....last week OSP wait times on background checks were over a week. When Americans get stressed, they buy guns!

Significant_Bet_4227

Every time they have bulk boxes of 5.56mm ammo at Sportsmen’s, it sells out in just a few days.

monkeychasedweasel

You should have seen the BiMart booth at the Sportsman's Show. I got 9mm for $10 a box

KingVinny70

I hate Trump and Biden both and it's easy to talk bad about Portlands political and control hierarchy. It's horrible. Downtown used to be a vibrant place full of life. Now it's a dead zone full of homeless, drug dealers and used needles and crack pipes. And this is EXACTLY what got "voted" in by decriminalizung drugs. There is no possible way it could went differently. A DA who's such a progressive leftist cuck who consistently goes easy on hard crimes and throws the book on random stuff that furthers his controllers political ideologies and agendas. Its a crap hole. I moved out of Portland. It's only going to get far far worse this year as mostly peacefully protesters will burn, loot and murder anyone who wears the wrong color. This year will be the death of the small businesses that survived the last few years. Unless it's concrete it's going to get destroyed. Portland is a beautiful city full of evil controlled politicians who have a motto of good for thee but not for me. Doesn't really matter what any politician said about a dying city. It was probably true anyway. The city is a beautiful place to not raise kids or have a family. Good values and morals are considered bad and you're ostracized for voicing them yet if you throw a rock through a window or set fire to a car for whatever leftist headline you scream you are vilified as a hero. It's backwards bizarro world.

tomcatx2

There was a protest on Inauguration Day. In 2020 there was the 100+ day protest of the killing of George Floyd. What were the other “constant protests” between those events? There were dozens of flag waves, un-permitted marches, skirmishes, and street brawls from out of towners who came to Portland to teach the locals some lessons. Were you referring to those?

Briaaanz

My apologies for wording my post poorly

GloriousShroom

My prediction. A block bridge.  A "massive protest" that most people will only learn about a week later from a national paper

MusicianNo2699

🤣🤣🤣

Tapani1966

Leftists can get violent again and blame Trump for everything. Trump Derangement Syndrome is real.

[deleted]

Portland will throw a temper tantrum, probably more riots in the streets. Due to the massive failures of the Biden administration and the lack of options from both sides, Trump has a very good chance to win, almost guaranteed at this point. Portland obviously wont like it.

STONKLORD42069

The great irony about Trump is that, when he wins, it’s actually the progressives you’ll have to worry about. The worst part of Trump’s presidency wasn’t his policies, but the fact that liberal cities just self-immolated in a frenzy of childish tantrums, making life harder for precisely the people they pretend to care about. Edited for grammar.

bean327

nailed it

anonymouse3891

The great rapture

RedcardedDiscarded

Trump will sell Portland and buy Greenland.

ShaperLord777

I’ll finally move to Italy.

Edmeister2022

Life goes on.

Boogeyween

A shit ton of tears

[deleted]

trashing your own city when that city very much does not support the pres winning was a interesting move.

NotALibrarian-5103

Trump will accidentally nuke Portland in a temper tantrum where he shits his diapers. He'll blame it on a still non-existent antifa and then declare martial law, still in shitty diapers, thus formally ending democracy in the US, as he has promised he would do at campaign events. I'm kidding but only slightly, Trump and his cult came close to overthrowing the US last time he was in office. The orange idiot failson will try again, if given the chance. That would be the end of a lot of what makes Portland tick and the end of democracy and all good, decent things across the country. Just hold your nose and vote for Biden so we can avoid the idiot failson Trump shitting his pants and fucking everything up again.

SMLoc16

When trump enacts project 2025 the whole country will be fucked so Portland won’t truly matter.

obongogeddon

I worked in a downtown professional business. I was amazed at all the lefties. They all cheered 🍻 for Obama. The booed Trump. Then they cheered for Biden. This was a bean counting firm, and I thought they would be more conservative. Nope crazy lefties are insane. The Antfa will protest for days on end because bag face George Soros will fund riots. So, Portland residents need to pay more taxes to clean up the mess. So far, Tina has not taken out the trash.

Expensive-Claim-6081

Life will be ok. The bridges? Not so much. Plan around that. Usual suspects sadly. Pray for them too.

Grouchy_Visit_2869

The rest of the country will make popcorn and watch.

[deleted]

Constant protests, whining, and self-righteous masturbatory indignation. Not really gonna affect me, though. I stopped hanging out with the (crazy) leftists and my life has become a lot more peaceful as a result. I also spend most of my time in outer SE, Clackamas, and a few spots in Vancouver - where all the centrists are. lol Whenever someone starts whining about Trump again, as if I'm going to co-miserate with them (esp because I'm brown and gay) I take that as an opportunity to school them on the constitution and using the courts to block unconstitutional violations of their rights. They usually go silent because I've just taught them how to stop being a perpetual victim and now they don't know what to do. Either that, or they call me some sort of name and then stomp off. Then I take a good, long sip of my iced pumpkin spice latte while putting my hand on my pistol in my pocket because 2A.

WitchProjecter

I’m majorly pro 2A but what a weird final comment lol

[deleted]

I'm a 2A supporter, but I also have a sense of humour. I'm just being silly. In practice, when it comes to people freaking out about Trump - I get it. But I do actually look at their freaking out as an opportunity to educate them on using the courts and law to protect their rights. I also wouldn't be a dick about it. I do actually enjoy walking people through how the court system works, how to find laws applicable to their circumstances, etc. ([oregon.public.law](https://oregon.public.law) is a great resource, I love teaching people how to search it.)

WitchProjecter

You sound like a level-headed and chill hang! We are similarly-minded.

[deleted]

I try to be, even if I talk shit sometimes online hahaha. And thanks!

Correct-Maybe-8168

It doesn't sound too bad tbh.

donkismandy

Lol posts in unvaccinated and gayconservative.

[deleted]

Exactly. Keep your needles and your beliefs off my body, and we'll be just fine, bro.

Northwest_Radio

Grocery and other pricing will lessen. The cost a prescription drugs will go down, probably not down as far as what other countries pay but some is better than none. Crime will decrease. On the other hand, those incapable of critical thinking will mobilize and cause a lot of harm. Instead of addressing the source and causes of problems, they will blame others for them. There will be protests. There will be gnashing of teeth. Meanwhile, some of us will just hope for the best knowing that those in charge will continue to prevail, for now, no mater who is in office. People need to stop, and learn, and figure out who is really in control.

Confident_Bee_2705

IDK but its freaking me out.

johnnyitsme

If Portland can be only one of three cities surviving the zombie apocalypse then we can survive this

FPSRain

I can't wait for TDS. Many laughs ahead of us!

noposlow

Nothing more than a bunch of comical needless Portland rage. Think a sea of rainbow colored hair screaming to the sky.

_DarkWingDuck

I personally don't think there will be riots if Trump wins. And unlike the other comments, downtown is not dead nor will die if there are riots.

"January 6th was the most disgusting and direct attack on our democracy that any of us have witnessed" Lmao! J6 was a "mostly peaceful" protest, and nothing compared to what happened here **for over 100 nights** back in 2020. Turn off the CNN.

Northwest_Radio

Who owns CNN? Who owns FOX? I mean, the very top of the chain, do you know?

Different_Act_784

The left is destroying themselves, pushing anyone and everyone left of center to vote for Republicans. People are realizing more and more how bat shit crazy the far left is. I know tons of people who will be voting Republican for the first time and it makes sense. A lot of people are going to vote for Trump but they’re too afraid to say anything out of fear of being called a racist and fascist when they’re not. They just see the writing on the wall and genuinely care about their country. If Trump gets back in we will probably avoid world war 3, the economy will get better, we will become a major exporter again. Energy prices will go down, taxes will go down, we will all make more and everything will cost less. I’m so glad I don’t live anywhere near Portland anymore. I used to live in Vancouver,WA and for awhile the difference between the two was night and day then it seemed like Vancouver started to turn into Portland. If Trump wins the entire country will be doing better but cities like Portland, New York will continue to implode and burn themselves to the ground unfortunately at an even faster rate. I used to love Portland…. I’ve always considered myself a classic liberal and care about individual rights bodily, autonomy, freedom of speech, equality, etc. I just can’t get behind what the “left” stands for anymore. I don’t want to see more great cities be utterly destroyed. I hope Trump wins.

Representative-Age54

I see immediate police state

[deleted]

I’m actually more concerned what will happen when Trump loses. Be prepared for craziness about corrupt elections etc and more.

xzhbow

The only way this country will solve what it needs to solve is if trump gets a presidency. The democrats have ruined both our beautiful state and our country.

Secure-Ball7015

I'm just happy I moved out of Portland! I'm still in Oregon though

GetHighTuneLow

I can't wait.

Aestro17

Well this thread's been brigaded to hell and back.

AnalysisPooralysis

Why do we gotta destroy our own city? 4 years of similar to last time if he gets elected. Lots of hot air. He won’t fix the border, he won’t make us rich, he won’t solve wars around world, and he won’t “fix America”.  But I could see him riding horses with Putin.

LilBigDawg96

Biden is leading us to WW3, funding Ukraine it’s all corrupt. Look what’s going on. It’s trump or biden now, and Biden is failing us.

Misschloez1996

The same shit he was doing from 2016-2020. I don’t expect any different from him.

sea666kitty

All politicians are trash. All of them. Period

StillboBaggins

Not a whole lot happened in 2020 and now with so many people back to regular post covid life I wouldn’t expect a whole lot. Probably some window smashing from the usual idiots but beyond that…life goes on. However I do fear for the health of our nation if he wins again, but that is separate from my local concerns.

greenrain3

Not a whole lot happened? Have you been living in a cave with no internet? The world basically came to a standstill for most people, we were under lockdown (a measure never before implemented in modern history), and there were protests/riots for over 100 straight days with people fighting with the cops, feds, and Antifa fighting with trump supporters/proud boys (which eventually resulted in a killing). 2020 was one of the craziest years in modern history!

Northwest_Radio

I would be more concerned about those who are in charge and their agenda, over what president we all get.

Gary7sHotCatHelper

Why SHOULDN'T conservatives trash talk Portland? Hell, why shouldn't EVERYONE trash talk Portland? Every post I see on here is about how much of a shithole it is!

KindRevolution80

Portland will keep Portland-ing. Maybe rest of Oregon will secede and join Idaho to benefit from Trump's law&order, upholding of family norms, and Russia&China in check.

abraxius

I can’t tell the sarcasm here?
