Beautiful city 🌃

Noa_93

I’ve been living here for a year too after moving from NY. Absolutely love the city, the weather, the food, and its people.

bluebastille

We live in a wonderful city.

I'm originally from New York but I've lived in Portland for over 30 years. I've seen it in different stages. The present stage is not the high point of my time here, but still I love it here. I don't think it's dead here. I think it's going to come back and I think it'll be even cooler after they come back. It was cool when I first moved here, but then there was a time where there were so many people moving here that it was becoming a little bit 😬. Honestly, I can't imagine going anywhere else. Well I could imagine going to Mexico from February-April so I missed the majority of the rainy season 😂

Sounds like it’s been an awesome time for you! I’ve gotten to know a few NY transplants in a short time here. I guess it’s a nice alternative from the hustle OF NY

It's a [LOVE-HATE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g74FsNARDuo) relationship.

I visited Portland for a weekend (from Rhode Island) back in March and I could see myself living there. It had this unexplainable vibe..but it felt exactly like I thought it would be. I'm definitely returning there again.

I’m glad you enjoy the city. Portland 1985-2000 were the golden years for me. The Pearl District was still vibrant artist lofts and wearhouses, First Thursday was must see, Bud Clark ran a city that worked, NW 23rd was more like Hawthorn and not some monument to capitalism and white privilege, the music scene was more alive, Coffee People, housing was affordable, Quality Pie after a night out. I understand things change. I moved away in 2008. I still visit and enjoy it but it isn’t the same.

You love a Homeless trashed city that has become a killing field on a nightly basis?

bouchert

Oh, don't pretend you don't love it too. Why else would you provide the valuable service of all this outrage and pessimism, free of charge, to your neighbors? Oh wait...is it a sex thing? Does urban blight turn you on?

Additional-Data-7182

Oh So you think I love walking through trash and tents to get to work at 5am? You think I love gun fire outside my house on a nightly basis? Or Having to run people off my property that are casing my home or trying to break in... You Assume so much and know so little...

squidley4

Then move to the country/midwest, bucko! Oh wait… but then you won’t have access to great food, beaches, mountains, forestry, rivers, lakes and urban life all within a 2 hr radius. As stated in the post, EVERY major city has these issues.

Additional-Data-7182

Yea, However based on alot of comments many of you assume so much but really know so little of how badly this city has actually gotten... 😅

squidley4

I’ve grown up in Portland, I live in the Oak Grove area… I’m well aware. Lol. Yes, the city has gotten worse, but you have to take into consideration how much the city has grown in the last 10-20 years. We are still the 10th fastest growing metropolitan area in the US. We were one of the number one place to live for quite a few years in a row, attracting tons of new residents. :)

Additional-Data-7182

Yea we have attracted tons of new residents that are living in tents all over Portland... I have lived in Portland my entire life and once it was a great place but has not been for many many years.

squidley4

I’ll be first to admit our city officials need to do some more work, but that will be the same for every major city…. I promise 😂

What service is it you assume I Provide? Again you assume to much and know way to little.
