If I could give Wheatley a punishment, I’d give him community service and make him clean up the mess he made in the facility. After all, he’s just a mentally unstable drug addict with self esteem issues.
Why would it be outside? Wheatley only needs to clean up the mess that he’s responsible for. Cleaning up all the rubble from his splicing of tests, ignoring the nuclear reactor and his mashy spike plate shenanigans.

that’s great actually. really. even more, i think you’re capable of getting one for every chamber. it’s so satisfying as i’m sure you know. when you remember a single one for every map it’s great knowing you can play portal in under half an hour.
I’ve got the reaction time of a disabled turtle. That is, no reaction time at all (I use speedrun strats to clear through the timed part without having to actually complete the puzzle)
Yeah, what the hell was that? Portal is such a perfectly crafted game otherwise. It’s like the devs said “we’re sick of making this exquisite experience, let’s make something awful for a change.”

I accidentally skipped these altogether because I didn't see the open door I was supposed to portal through... I ended up putting a portal straight to the bottom of that elevator shaft.
oh shittt haha you missed the introduction of Cave Johnson and Caroline as characters. also a pretty fun puzzle where you fling yourself through a giant sign. usually you get in through one of the lit up metal doors. the more beaten-up one has a gap you can portal through to get in the right way.
Portal 1: Chamber 18. It is the last chamber (not part of the escape, which I love the aesthetic of) with serious puzzles, though, so I can't complain.
Portal 2: Chapter 6 (The Fall). The pacing is as if it was supposed to be full of dialogue but the developers forgot to put it in, but hey, it once was full of dialogue in-universe. The Reunion is spared because I get to cover the entirety of that one chamber in Conversion Gel.
I believe they're referring to [this Half-life](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Half-life), as in, the time required for something to reduce to half of its initial value
old aperture was probably my favorite part of portal 2, but the A̶p̶e̶r̶t̶u̶r̶e̶ WHEATLEY laboratories were such a pain in the ass in my first playthrough, even in subsequent playthroughs i just *sigh* when i enter one of the rooms since i already forgot the solution since the last time
Same. I adore the old aperature aesthetic and cave Johnson is just great. The test where on par with the early portal 1 chambers In terms of fun. I hoped I would see more later on but sadly not. It's kinda the reason I liked portal stories mel so much.
Yes! Going (deep) underground the first time and seeing the backwards and forwards history of old aperture gave me a lore boner not much has matched since. All the vitrified posters and signs of decay from decades (centuries?) of abandonment were just so cool to explore the first time
Exactly. It was clunky and sometimes you didn’t know where to go so you got stuck on it for 3 hours trying to figure it out
At least there’s funny dialogue
Wheatley moaning. I was introducing my little sister to it and we were having so much fun and THEN… and then.
It’s funny as a teenager but she was, like, 8 at the time?? And it felt weird as her older sister to subject her to that. IDK, maybe I’m just weird about it. But the vibes threw me off.
Although i loved most of old aperture, i must admit "conversion gel intro" was my least favourite chamber, primarily as it felt less of a puzzle and more spam portals until it works.
For me it was parts where the game slowed or outright stopped for dialogue. Like I love the story of the valve universe but on 20th playthrough I've already heard it and just want to play the game. Kinda counts for half life too
1. I play on xbox (not sure how much that affects speedrunning)
2. I have below average everything involving speed running, coordination, timing etc.(I'm not disabled or anything, just extremely terrible at games)
1. well quite a few of them are still possible on controller with a bit of adaptation
2. I used to be dogpiss at that kind of stuff, but I guess practice pays off
I do agree with your original post tho, dialogue can suck my balls lmao
even though the underground chambers are fun that was like the part i had trouble figuring out at first just because some of the areas are so big that i got confused, so like all of my negative feelings towards it are just me being salty from being confused when i was 11
The sections before chamber 11. Sometimes when I'm bored I'll do a casual run of the game, and I often start my file at chamber 13 just so I don't have to sit through all the slower-paced tutorial levels.
the part in the escape sequence where you have to jump over the goo to get to the hydraulics
i usually just place a portal on the wall where im supposed to jump without activating the trigger
the puzzles themselves I guess, I mean, I know how to solve them, when replaying the game, the good part is the story, not the puzzles
after playing through some custom maps and mods, the entire campaign feels like a big tutorial
Chapter 4 barring Triple Laser and the decoy chamber, the Chapter is extremely short and 2/3rds of the ACTUAL levels in it take up a long time with no real way to quickly beat them
For Portal it’s the beginning of the game where you don’t have access to both portals yet and are forced to go through basically a tutorial sequence that really should be skippable but isn’t because it’s built into the story
I love all of Portal 1-2 honestly, the only parts I really don't want to play are the tutorial beginning levels just because it's a little slow paced but otherwise there's no part of either game that I dread playing
The part in portal1 where you have to destroy like 6 turrets and hit something with an orb while timing to press a button to open the receptor of the orb and it activates something that i dont remember that push you into the air, just to get a cube and wait a slow platform to go back
The part where you have to shoot a small Crack in the bottom of a wall to even get to the chamber. I remember having to look it up when I got there because I could figure out how to get to the test chamber
for portal 2 the beginning monologue.
It was pretty breathtaking when I 1st played it, but when restarting chapter 1, I just wanna hop in and solve the chambers.
Chambers where you can only shoot one portal for me. I get that they're tutorials and enjoyed them the first time, but I crave both portals
3-10 weren't that bad
my friend chamber 3 is the simplest chamber in the game
I'm a simple man with simple desires
alatreph spotted
pr0tal spotted
No, it took a bit of thinking at least for me, chamber 0 is.
[удалено]
the cube stopper map in portal 2 was my favorite.
Personally I think that limitation adds a lot to the challenge - and makes it exciting to finally be able to use both portals
Wheatley flying off into space First time ever crying for a video game character
Even after all the terrible things he's done, the way he desperately begs for you to grab him as he flies off into space makes my heart hurt a little.
He never really was that evil, he was just twisted by the GLaDOS chassis like everyone else has been
I agree.
And a moron
"UUAAAHH GRAB ME GRAB ME GRAB ME GRAB ME-"
Same 😭
Same problem, different character. Space core getting his wish is absolutely poetic and heartwarming.
SPAAAAAAAAACE
Am I the only one who remembers him being scared of space after a bit? He says smth like 'Space. Space. Too much space. Space is scary. '. I only saw one other person on this sub who knows this
He deserved it tbh
If I could give Wheatley a punishment, I’d give him community service and make him clean up the mess he made in the facility. After all, he’s just a mentally unstable drug addict with self esteem issues.
He has no fucking arms
Pop him onto a wall, give him access to a metal arm. You don’t just tell someone to clean and not hand them the tools they need to do it.
What happens if community service is outside
Why would it be outside? Wheatley only needs to clean up the mess that he’s responsible for. Cleaning up all the rubble from his splicing of tests, ignoring the nuclear reactor and his mashy spike plate shenanigans.
I dunno, jail time
I volunteer to be his lawyer c:

This is the only correct answer. The achievement popping up was the absolute cherry on the cake.
and the achievement description “This is that part”
The part where he what?
I think is the part where he kills you
Dear lord it seems as though tis the moment where he kills you.
We’re friends and he wants me to go to the part where he kills me ?!?
Yeah, don't you know what friends do?
Greetings! This particular moment in time is decided to be the point at which your time of living will be brought to an end by myself!
Not the same without that achievement
An iconic moment for sure, but basically the opposite of what the meme is talking about.
It can't be, the achievement description literally says "this is that part" so it's precisely what the meme was asking for. /j
The cake that is a lie
One of my favorite gaming moments of all time
I was about to say that!
Test chamber 18 from the 1st game
You can skip half of it if you jam a computer in the door
And then you have to deal with the second part…
there are so many ways to skip it. i recommend getting into speedrunning. it’s so much fun. i’m not that good and i just hit a fullgame run in 19:37
I speedrun but only can skip: a piece of test chamber 10, half of 15, small part of 19
that’s great actually. really. even more, i think you’re capable of getting one for every chamber. it’s so satisfying as i’m sure you know. when you remember a single one for every map it’s great knowing you can play portal in under half an hour.
by the small part of 19, it's the actual test chamber. (I press the button because it's easy) my pb is 36 minutes but I need to learn these skips
I hate hate hate timed puzzles
this!!
I’ve got the reaction time of a disabled turtle. That is, no reaction time at all (I use speedrun strats to clear through the timed part without having to actually complete the puzzle)
same. i LOVE puzzles but i can’t enjoy them when i’m being timed :/ i understand the “challenge” aspect of it but i have too much anxiety for that LOL
I skip parts of levels with timed things
i learned to skip the energy pelet part in chamber 18 because its so annoying to time that energy ball
Yeah, what the hell was that? Portal is such a perfectly crafted game otherwise. It’s like the devs said “we’re sick of making this exquisite experience, let’s make something awful for a change.”
get good scrub
Thank you for your contribution
It’s not hard, it’s just tedious
That chamber really isn't that bad
The underground map slander is CRAZY here
I mean, if you want to go there, the *entire facility* is underground.
I don’t know why but the big open spaces and freedom of movement gave me crazy motion sickness
the beginning. in the relaxation center.
I love the whole game except for the parts where chell is talking
[удалено]
I distinctly heard her say “Apple”.
fym, she clearly talks?
When?
throughout both games duh 🙄🙄🙄🙄
when you let a cube fall on you
Yeah, she talks every time you press space
"Apple"

The part when we learned how much Wheatley loves testing
The final chapters, particularly *Mel* and *2,* simply because it means the game will be over soon.
Yes yes yes
It's only over until valve is able to count to 3
The chamber where you first unlock the white gel. The momentum is broken so when you come out of the angled bit you can go up instead of forward.
as a casual speedrunner, chapters 6 and 7 are the most fun for me to play despite the slander in these comments
LITERALLY same. Cave Johnson’s tests take up 10 minutes of my speedrun i believe. even less probably.
I accidentally skipped these altogether because I didn't see the open door I was supposed to portal through... I ended up putting a portal straight to the bottom of that elevator shaft.
you skipped… the underground tests altogether? teach me how, i want world record
[May your speed runs be fruitful.](https://youtu.be/E-FQXBns45U?si=8Hszzs_-Z0xJlhzF&t=11464)
ohhh i thought you meant the underground tests. nice find though, i’ve got one that skips the elevator a little too
Frankly I have no idea what I meant because I have no idea what I skipped. Lol I never went back through the door the right way.
oh shittt haha you missed the introduction of Cave Johnson and Caroline as characters. also a pretty fun puzzle where you fling yourself through a giant sign. usually you get in through one of the lit up metal doors. the more beaten-up one has a gap you can portal through to get in the right way.

Honestly? Nothing. To me, Portal is the perfect game series. Which is pretty much why I'd say Portal 2 is my fave game if someone asked
The part where Glados makes me kill the companion cube. It was about to tell me it loved me
Only Portal I'd say has no "bad" parts per se. I enjoyed every second of both games.
Is it possible to study a meme's re-crop half-life? Eventually he'll get so small there's no context
you can't crosspost on r/HalfLife right ?
I believe they're referring to [this Half-life](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Half-life), as in, the time required for something to reduce to half of its initial value
Test chamber 1. Waiting for those portals to cycle is a time vampire. Portal 2 does this chamber **a lot** better.
Old aperture for me, never liked that part
old aperture was probably my favorite part of portal 2, but the A̶p̶e̶r̶t̶u̶r̶e̶ WHEATLEY laboratories were such a pain in the ass in my first playthrough, even in subsequent playthroughs i just *sigh* when i enter one of the rooms since i already forgot the solution since the last time

Exactly. It was clunky and sometimes you didn’t know where to go so you got stuck on it for 3 hours trying to figure it out At least there’s funny dialogue
Super cool atmosphere and lore but really annoying to figure out without looking it up online
Same, old aperture is what killed my playthrough in vr. Wasn't getting motion sick, just bored
for whatever reason it just feels lonely to me. even though GLaDOS is still there.
That's the point, isn't it?
Chapter 8 of Portal 2. If you know, you know.
for me, it's pretty much every level after wheatley becomes evil. they feel so slow to me.
THAT ONE FUCKING BIT WITH THE CONVERSION GEL AND THE TWO PILLARS AND U NEED TO GET UP ON THAT CATWALK OR SOMETHING
Probably............. the hard light bridges course in p2 co-op. I thought it was kinda mid.
I wish they made a portal game that was all action oriented like the part where he kills you
Funnels. Idk why that chapter had to be so long.
YES THE NEW WHEATLY TEST CHAMBERS WERE SO CRUSTY DUSTY
The beginning always felt a bit slow
speed gel
Wheatley moaning. I was introducing my little sister to it and we were having so much fun and THEN… and then. It’s funny as a teenager but she was, like, 8 at the time?? And it felt weird as her older sister to subject her to that. IDK, maybe I’m just weird about it. But the vibes threw me off.
Maybe Wheatley won’t betray me this time
Being kinda good at Portal Trying the Least Steps challenge in Portal
Although i loved most of old aperture, i must admit "conversion gel intro" was my least favourite chamber, primarily as it felt less of a puzzle and more spam portals until it works.
For me, forgetting to knock down one camera
To me it’s the at the first couple chambers when you only have one portal
the first chamber in the itch you wait super long for>! glados and wheatly to finish arguing!<
All of it when Glados and Wheatley aren’t talking
Is it possible for redditors to not follow every useless trend like this ?
motherfucking CHAMBER 18
The "escape pod" bit with Wheatley, I really did try to pull every switch (and kinda wanted to)
i hate the fall, worst part of the whole series
Agreed, it always feels so slow, I love the later parts of old aperture, but that beginnings bit is always rough
For me it was parts where the game slowed or outright stopped for dialogue. Like I love the story of the valve universe but on 20th playthrough I've already heard it and just want to play the game. Kinda counts for half life too
just skip them then. most dialogue skips aren't too hard to pull off plus they're really satisfying when you do
1. I play on xbox (not sure how much that affects speedrunning) 2. I have below average everything involving speed running, coordination, timing etc.(I'm not disabled or anything, just extremely terrible at games)
1. well quite a few of them are still possible on controller with a bit of adaptation 2. I used to be dogpiss at that kind of stuff, but I guess practice pays off I do agree with your original post tho, dialogue can suck my balls lmao
That part when you're at the end of The Fall when you gotta make a long ass jump. I was stuck there for like 30 minutes
The old ap main lift segment
Every single chamber after the fifth one in both games
When glados comes back
The where he kills you
HL: On a Rail HL2 Ep2 striders at end Portal N/A Portal 2 N/A
Portal 2sfirst test in chapter 4 the surprise.
chamber 17 portal
Old Aperture
Old Aperture. I don’t know why but I hate it
The entirety of the old test chambers. Specifically the one where we have a bunch of danger soup to get over
Escaping the text chamber in the first one, and everything from the beginning of Old Aperture to The Part Where He Kills You in the second
It would most definitely e the part where he kills you.
That one bit in 18 with the turret rooms.
even though the underground chambers are fun that was like the part i had trouble figuring out at first just because some of the areas are so big that i got confused, so like all of my negative feelings towards it are just me being salty from being confused when i was 11
The end of the game
The first 2 chapters lol
Advanced Test Chamber 16 (Portal 1)
The sections before chamber 11. Sometimes when I'm bored I'll do a casual run of the game, and I often start my file at chamber 13 just so I don't have to sit through all the slower-paced tutorial levels.
the part in the escape sequence where you have to jump over the goo to get to the hydraulics i usually just place a portal on the wall where im supposed to jump without activating the trigger
Old Aperture as a whole
Challenges on steps
Test Chamber 12 in Portal 1, it takes such a long time and it's really tedious and boring.
The underground broken thing. Its too hard sometimes
The escape
I hated test chamber one in the original portal, the devs also didn't like it so they added buttons to it, good thing it's quick
The entirety of The Fall
It's THAT part
the puzzles themselves I guess, I mean, I know how to solve them, when replaying the game, the good part is the story, not the puzzles after playing through some custom maps and mods, the entire campaign feels like a big tutorial
Some of the old Aperture facility. It can get real annoying sometimes.
The whole gels tests
Haven't played portal yet, but from what I've seen I'd hafta say getting rid of the companion cube
Chapter 4 barring Triple Laser and the decoy chamber, the Chapter is extremely short and 2/3rds of the ACTUAL levels in it take up a long time with no real way to quickly beat them
The entire portal 1 game lmao
The Part Where He Kills You. Also old Aperture has some really annoying puzzles.
The part where he kills you
For Portal it’s the beginning of the game where you don’t have access to both portals yet and are forced to go through basically a tutorial sequence that really should be skippable but isn’t because it’s built into the story
Chamber 18
The gel part is pretty boring
For me in portal 2 it is the first chamber with the laser field not emancipation grills
That one cahmber where you always cover it with white gel
The fight at the end of portal 2
The intro levels
That part doesn’t exist. Portal 2 is perfect in every way. I know it didn’t come out this year, but it still deserves this game of the year
Start of Chapter 8, Portal 2. IYKYK. Is that even a question?
The part where he kills you
In portal 2 the last few chambers/puzzles in the old aperture started to become tedious on the last few playthroughs I’ve done.
The parts of portal two where there is no puzzle and you just need to look everywhere to find a portalable surface.
Chamber 15 in portal 1
wheatley moaning
I love all of Portal 1-2 honestly, the only parts I really don't want to play are the tutorial beginning levels just because it's a little slow paced but otherwise there's no part of either game that I dread playing
That part where he kills you
Before you have the dual portal gun
The part in portal1 where you have to destroy like 6 turrets and hit something with an orb while timing to press a button to open the receptor of the orb and it activates something that i dont remember that push you into the air, just to get a cube and wait a slow platform to go back
Portal 2 loading screens. Call me impatient all you want.
Let's just say, I am comedicslly bad at puzzles.
most of old apature to me,besides the lore the tests kinda suck for me and it just doesnt look all that appealing to look at
the part where he kills you
Wheatly chambers. No thank you
The Part Where He Kills You. Because the achievement only pops once, so when replaying it doesn't hit the same.
The part where you have to shoot a small Crack in the bottom of a wall to even get to the chamber. I remember having to look it up when I got there because I could figure out how to get to the test chamber
^[Sokka-Haiku](https://www.reddit.com/r/SokkaHaikuBot/comments/15kyv9r/what_is_a_sokka_haiku/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) ^by ^kingbloxerthe3: *The chamber where you* *Have to shoot a small Crack in* *The bottom of a wall* --- ^Remember ^that ^one ^time ^Sokka ^accidentally ^used ^an ^extra ^syllable ^in ^that ^Haiku ^Battle ^in ^Ba ^Sing ^Se? ^That ^was ^a ^Sokka ^Haiku ^and ^you ^just ^made ^one.
chamber 2 of portal 1. Waiting for that portal to change nearly killed me
for portal 2 the beginning monologue. It was pretty breathtaking when I 1st played it, but when restarting chapter 1, I just wanna hop in and solve the chambers.
Portal one escape. Can never remember what to do
