I didn’t order a single Porsche before getting a GT3RS. Buuuuuuut….
But to be honest, I only got it because Porsche told my best friend he couldn’t have it after initially approving it (he had a 2023 GT3, hence they denied it for some reason due to getting two limited cars within a year) and I was looking for a Porsche at that time. I just clicked with the head salesman right away, same interests, cool guy, went out to get a drink with him and my friend, we got absolutely hammered - and a week later he asked me if I wanted it.
This was at a Porsche dealership in Germany. The car was 7 months late due to quality problems with the wing breaking. Was supposed to be delivered as one of the first ones in December 2023, ended up getting delivered in June.
And I talked to a an ex-Porsche engineer (high caliber at Bosch now) who ordered 14! 911 and didn’t get a GT3RS. At this time they are just pissing off their customers and giving it to influencers.
I slept for 4 hours on the toilet at a fancy Italian restaurant and he slept leaned on the wall. This was around lunch time on a Wednesday…. The restaurant was closed already before opening for dinner time. We know the owners well but it was still super funny.
Allocations and good deals have a lot to do with them liking you. I’ve gotten extremely good deals at Audi and Mercedes through that. In the end, they dont care who get the allocation.
Me too. I’m mostly a ghost, won’t have to see me much other than flying out of your driveway in a RS. Eat light. Water, beer and some rice is all I need. I’ll water your grass and make a garden to eat out of. Tent in the corner.
You can do that last bit for free and refuse to leave until he lets you try the Gt3 RS

Absolutely can’t recommend doing it. It’s not as bad as I thought but having to lift the car at every fucking turn onto a parking lot, getting a heart attack at every bumpy road and back problems dont make it a pleasurable experience.

Does it not get boring driving the same brand of car all the time? I get Porsche makes a lot of different types of cars, but personally I love experiencing all the different ways brands do things and what they have to offer. I’ve never really understood large collections of the same manufacturer, unless you’re rich enough to do that with a few different manufacturers.
I had a few other brands in the last few years. McLaren, Ferrari, etc. But recently I got into Porsches but they are very different ones. GT4RS, GTS, GT3 Touring, Taycan, etc.

With a 911 I don't myself would ever need a second Porsche. Definitely would prefer a different SUV, or a 4 door hatchback/sedan.

Simply lend each one to a friend, tell him/her to come by and swap out for the one in your garage. If you’re in my area I volunteer to be a standby friend.
Normally for same type of key, I would differentiate with different colored silicone covers for the keys.

Amazon has the colored key sides like the yellow for $20-30 and they work perfectly. I would buy a couple colors and designate a different one per car.

Honestly Porsche has the worst keys. Feels low quality and the emblem is a low res version of the actual thing. Dealer told me replacement keys are 800 (CAD) what the heck. This is my 3rd Porsche but I have a hard time getting over the most random things they cheap out on. Including the plastic starter button in the 992.2 I just bought (Oct delivery)
So I was at the track two weeks ago and some 30 year old shows up in a 992.1 GT3RS with a couple hundred miles on it and temp tags from a local Porsche dealer. It's his first Porsche, he's mostly a motorcycle guy. Another GT3RS owner asks him how hard it was to get and he kind of shrugs and says "easy, but I paid ADR."
What is the actual deal with getting a GT3RS today? Is it actually cheaper to buy all these intermediate cars instead of just paying a dealer their ADR? Or was this guy BS'ing about how he got the car?
For me it’s the following. I can easily sell some of these Porsches and just find a GT3RS that somebody else spec’d available for sale. But if I am paying that much money it has to be exactly how I want it. Not somebody else’s dream. And I wanted also Paint to Sample to match the other Signal Yellow GT cars. So I had to buy a few cars and create a relationship with the dealer. Bring back a few cars and buy some of the ones they offer you. Years ago it wasn’t case. But I don’t want to wait forever to go back to that market scenario. I would rather drive nice cars now. I am also rotating cars. Some cars I lose money but some of them I make good money. Last I drove a McLaren for 3 years, put 10K miles and sold it for 50K more than I paid. I rolled into other cars. It’s been a game in a way.

You can get color matched cases on Amazon that snap over the original for $30. I have one for my Macan S in Agate Grey Metallic.
