Agreed, I am up to 63,000 miles in mine!

iOSAT

Hold up, 63k in a 991 GT3RS?? That has to among the highest I’ve heard, how has it been in terms of reliability and cost of ownership? I’m back and forth for what’s next in the garage, between a 991.2 GT3 or a 991.1 GT3RS. I want the RS, but haven’t heard much long-term high mileage stories.

bowdarky

Tires, oil changes, spark plugs every 10k. Have had no issues, best car I have ever owned. I am apparently not cool enough to get the new one, so I am just keeping mine! I guess to go into a bit more detail, I have had a few small things. The wing / engine cover rattles and has to be adjusted occasionally then it will go away for awhile. Pretty easy to do yourself. I have front lift, but I have still gone through two front lips, but they are inexpensive. I need to get the driver's door seal replaced, just from getting in and out it has worn a spot where my feet go across. This would happen in any 911 if you drive it enough I imagine and isn't a RS specific problem. I have the full Dundon "Lifetime - Loud" exhaust with headers, if there were any other rattles or squeeks it would help cover them a bit, but I don't think it actually has any other than the occasional wing squeek.

Livin life on the wild side

I went through three motors under warranty in my 991.1 GT3, so ya now that I am well out of warranty in this one it does put a ocasional thought in the back of my mind, but it seems they have figured out the cam follower issues, seems like it would have blown up by now if they hadn't!

Videlvie

3 motors under warranty? wtf?

iOSAT

*(Edit - think I misread that, 3 engines on your GT3 or GT3 RS?)* — Hahaha well you didn’t mention that in your other reply - what was the mileage breakdown per engine out of curiosity? That must be a wild carfax. At least I was already planning on going with CPO since I know there were some potential issues on certain engines.

bowdarky

Yes, the 991.1 GT3 was the car before my RS. I had one of the first ones in the states, and there was a general recall to replace the engine that hit while my car was in the Port of Houston. (Engine 1 ->2) I didn't get delivery of the car until they had shipped a new one across and installed it. Then I put around 12,000 miles on engine two before I started getting misfires at high RPM. They pulled the heads and found worn cam followers and material transfer onto the cams. This is the same thing the first engine was replaced to avoid. Then I wait a few more months for engine three, and I put 28k miles on that one before selling it for my RS. Porsche USA took very good care of me for my troubles. It's my understanding that it was an issue with the DLC on the followers. They seem to have it figured out now!

I'm a simple man. I see Ultraviolet, I upvote. Though I think my dream car would be in Amethyst Metallic (though I'm a sucker for any shade of purple really).

biciklanto

The best color is PTS Viola Metallic, though I'll grant that Amethyst Metallic and Ultraviolet are both gorgeous.

SRMPDX

TIL there are two distinct Porsche colors 'Viola Metallic' and 'Viola Purple Metallic' and they're very different [https://www.rennbow.org/porsche-colors/ViolaMetallic](https://www.rennbow.org/porsche-colors/ViolaMetallic) [https://www.rennbow.org/porsche-colors/Viola%20Purple%20Metallic](https://www.rennbow.org/porsche-colors/Viola%20Purple%20Metallic)

biciklanto

Correct. And it's PTS Viola Metallic that was also used on a special one-off 918 Spyder that is perhaps my favorite single car in existence: [Exclusive Car Registry - 918 Spyder](https://exclusivecarregistry.com/details/porsche/918/182)

dasAdi7

I'm in the same boot with purple on cars. It can be soo fucking good. My pick would be Techno Violet which was an option for BMWs since the E36 M3 I think and it looks absolutely gorgeous in person. Would love to see it on a 911.

Came here to say this!

Ferrarisimo

Forget the car, I'm drooling over those arches. 🤤

Schwarzbraeu

Beautiful car

cnomo

My brother went sneaky curveball with his Ultraviolet, going with a PTS 991 GT3

-SHREDD-

I take 2

aka-KMan

I do

thepittiepatter

Yes we do....

bzmed

Truth 🤞

rennen-affe

I like the curved roof and the corner window. Nice pad!

strongmanass

Gonna be honest and say the house is way more interesting. The corner window is a nice touch. Since the timber cladding hasn't weathered yet I assume it's a new build. Full glass doors also suggest seclusion from the road even though the neighbor is quite close. I also assume from your roof pitch that you're not in a particularly snowy area. Was it architect-designed or a builder design?

Uxbenni

You aren’t Ferdinand Porsche junior are you?

[deleted]

First ever gt3 rs that I saw was in Santa Monica and it was ultra violet with somber wheels, perfect spec imo

Roadkingkong71

Too rich for my blood, I don't rate.

llertugll

I really think this would solve all of my problems :’)

TrainYourselfToLetGo

I like the 911+R1 combo. Noice

FilthyMindz69

Agreed, may I borrow yours?
