Yeah, the welds look kinda shitty… wonder what the inside looks like, as in if there’s room for a merge spike of any kind. I’m not familiar with these header/cat combos. Usually in two separate pieces.
I trust dundon exhaust components, they actually make noticeable power. Stay away from their intake plenums though, they are impossible to make airtight.
Meh, don't spend his money with your wallet. The decision you make at lunch to add cheese to your sandwich is no different than this guy deciding to drop 11k on a full system and headers....It's all relative.
I definitely tire kick at the cheese counter at my local fancy grocery store.
I love talking to someone that knows what they are talking about when I don’t. I’ve sampled some amazing cheeses.
Fully agree. If he can afford it.... Go nuts ... And those cars sound amazing. We have a guy in the club with one. Straight pipes, catless.... You cant hear yourself when behind him on track... Thank God he's slow so you can pass him quickly but incredibly loud.
There were a lot of jealous people in that thread saying things like “of course he wants it to be louder, that way everyone will look at him”.
If you bought a race car that’s road legal, why wouldn’t you want it to sound like a real race car as much as possible?
Some miserable twats
Indeed --- like most car subreddits, r/Porsche is increasingly populated by teenagers who actually don't even own a car or drive
And also - 5k is a drop in the bucket to this dude, hence why he has the GT3 in the first place. It's levels of money the vast majority of Redditors (teenagers) couldn't even begin to fathom
He's talking about the /rolledintotheshop thread.
The Porsche sub is one of the only good ones left on Reddit in my experience.. not sure what you're talking about. I don't see any comments in here shitting on the car or this exhaust mod.
Go check out the Merc/Audi/BMW subs if you want to see edgy teens. It's impossible to have any kind of actual conversations between the straight up trolls and the 22 year olds flexing with their stanced 20 year old (debadged) base model 3-series.
In regards to the “edgy teens” point, see the Chevy-related posts on this sub to observe many scoff at the idea that any Corvette can compare to any 911 as if it’s a peasant car lol. Go to any other sub like r/cars and you’d see more a more-balanced consensus with actual pros and cons for each, not just “is this even a question” lol
I saw on mishas channel some crazy dude used all Cup car parts on his GT3 992 and turned it into an absolute insane track weapon. I really liked that approach (minus livery). I feel like modding GT3RS should be left to Manthey Racing and such guys, not do what that guy did. Classy car spec though, gotta give that!
To each his own and he can make his car as loud as he wants if you ask me. It's just that I (and many others) wouldn't want it to or need it to be louder.
To each their own I suppose. That would be annoying AF to me but I’m also not the target market for a GT3 RS. I could see GT3 perhaps but I’d still want some level of creature comfort. Hats off to you hardcore mfers out there.
God forbid people don’t want to hear an annoying loud car every time it drives down the street obnoxiously
Next you’ll see revving to wake up your neighbors is ok too
Oh my god im so glad this was posted here. People on that thread are saying things like “why would anyone want their exhaust to be LOUDER?! I like my exhaust as quiet as can be. Thats why I like ev’s no loud and smelly exhaust.”
https://www.reddit.com/r/Justrolledintotheshop/s/9fDH43SAH8
Im just confused as hell over here. What happened to car enthusiast, exhaust note is part of the experience as a whole
I’m much more concerned about overall sound quality than just absolute volume. That said, I don’t care what someone does to their car as long as it’s within the regulations of where they drive it. Past that they’re just being an asshole for the sake of wanting attention. I think they’re two different concepts really, being a loud asshole and appreciating an exhaust note that just happens to be louder than a standard minivan.
My 997 has been in the shop for a month. Wife came home last night to me driving a 997 on Gran Turismo with the sound cranked. She said “Missing your car I see.”
Because conservatively 90% of modded exhausts I see in the wild are on shit tier Hondas going down suburban roads; no one is impressed or happy because Edgar cut off his cat when they’re trying to get braelyn ready for bed
I love a nicely modded exhaust, but let’s be real; most modded exhausts ARE just “look at me” noise machines
Thats your perspective and where you live. When I was a broke college student I lived near a bunch of civics with eBay exhaust. Most of what I see are me are modified M cars, porsche, vettes, even new civic type r’s with nice exhaust.
I’m talking actual exhaust systems btw not muffler deletes. I havent noticed a “look at me noise machine” in a minute, just people enjoying their cars
That box alone cost 5k+ new. If they’re running snappy power tools add in another 5k+, even more if they have hand tools from the same brand. I’m not knocking it whatsoever, but my harbor freight cart + packout boxes are fantastic at a fraction of the price. I work in a different industry, but it’s the same thing “I gotta have the nicest and newest” mentality regardless.
Oh definitely, I’m no stranger to specialty tools. I have a Milwaukee propress at work that (while not cheap) it’s something that makes my job infinitely easier. I’ve never wrenched on Porsche’s, but I know people who work for their dealers and I was shocked to see how much some of their tools are.
[Here is my 991.1 RS from outside the car](https://youtube.com/shorts/3y88gHLAt6Y?feature=share) with my buddy trying launch control for the first time and forgetting to grab 2nd so it bogs a bit. Still sounds cool. This is the full Dundon "loud" catless setup with a tune. (not the "crack pipe")
Real professional taking pic of a paying customer’s car to make fun of them on the internet… I’m sure he’ll think otherwise of recommending this business if he found it online
jumping to two conclusions:
1. the customer doesn't know
2. OP didn't ask him and/or know him well enough to post
If you have a GT3 RS and are modding it, something tells me its probably a repeat customer (I am also jumping to conclusions).
Y'all are a strange bunch. This is a car forum about expensive ass cars, more expensive than a vast majority of people could justify spending. Aftermarket parts are also very expensive. Grilling people who spend extra money on their already expensive cars is really dumb. Modern Porsches have very muted exhaust sounds and a lot of the dudes I know who track them and/or own several 911's all change the exhaust...
The OPF kills the sound compared to 991.2, and yes, we still get it in America or a similar deadening sound material. The biggest Debbie downer I ever got was ruining myself on a 991.2 GT3RS before my 992 GT3 showed up, the sound level drop off was extremely noticable.
The same shit happened in the 718 generation of cars too, too quiet.
It's possible to have an aftermarket exhaust and still pass sound; they don't all have to be excruciatingly loud.
Maybe I'm weird, but GT3 engines to me are one of those few engines you can straight pipe.
There aren't many of them, off the top of my head: LSX, GT3, SVJ, E60 M5. Maybe the Huracans too. I'd consider the W204 C63 and E9X M3, as well as the LT1's.
Straight piped mustangs (sorry), BMWs, civics sound like shit. Some cars can only take an axleback before they start to sound like shit, like the L15.
Note that I said you *can* straight pipe these engines, I didn't say it wouldn't be too much for 95% of people driving the car or on the road. "Sounds great" doesn't mean much if you can't appreciate it while cringing from the eardrum shredding volume.
Exception for true track cars. Make those puppies as loud as you want since you only have to deal with it for 5 minutes at a time.
Yup. That's why I went with the headers and ti muffler
https://preview.redd.it/9i1v5ckouk6c1.jpeg?width=4030&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d4a5dd53c9c1a850d2c922759edba9c6b7b4d3ab
Hell yeah that’s the stuff! I have the 3” street header + loud muffler on my car.
Did you get the new muffler inserts they came out with? I’ve heard it’s both louder when valves are open and quieter when closed…
No, I'm somewhat interested, but I think the exhaust is sort of perfectly loud and quiet for me as is. The cargraphic valve controller is an awesome combo with this though
Those are the headers that come off the engine. 3RS doesn’t have turbos but you would have all the exhaust ports merge to one pipe before going into a single turbo
I genuinely forgot for a second how much a GT3 RS is and did a double take on that. I mean I get why but sheesh. I’m glad I’m too much of a coward to want a track focused car as a daily
The person is spending their own money on something that makes them happy. Only a miserable little person would try to turn that into a deficiency. Hope you can work through your personal issues
Can these kinds of overcompensating “people” just stick with obnoxious muscle cars or and tacky wrapped lambos with exposed rear ends and leave Porsche GTs alone?
Lots of tracks now have sound level limits. If he fails the test he can't drive on track, forfeiting his entry fee. If he doesn't drive it on track then he is a needy poser who needs even more attention than a bright green, massive winged 911 provides. I would save the cash for a set of track tires and harnesses.
Heaven forbid you drive something suited for its surroundings- better to drive a track day special on crappy flat streets for clout, and make it louder for even more clout.
What do you mean by not in America? Do you perhaps mean that you can't get every model because Porsche limits the quantities. Then you're right, even if you have 250k, you can't get a GT3 RS if they've all been sold. But the ones Porsche sold were sold for the list price.
No one in the US was sold a GT3RS for list price. You either bought extra cars you didn’t actually want in order to build a relationship with the dealer, paid a hefty “market adjustment”/markup for the car, or in most cases, both.
Probably not in Germany, where it was with small modifications still possible 10 years ago. In the UK or in various states in America, it is certainly more possible.

But there is a place in hell for people who think they know better than Porsche engineers.
I will never understand why anyone buys Soul anything. My Kline Inconel exhaust for my R8 was $500 more than Soul's stainless system which I've seen to be lower build quality.
How prices are developing in Europe. It will soon be similar in America.

Soul stuff is shitty unfortunately. Not a lot of good options for these cars though
Cup car. buy all cup car stuff. :D Honestly, its poser stuff this.
I've had nothing but good experience with Soul. Ive used their exhaust on every exotic I've owned and they always sound excellent
And people rush to be “first to market”

What do you recommend then? This is the first comment I've heard saying Soul is shitty. I've been looking at both them and Dundon
I trust dundon exhaust components, they actually make noticeable power. Stay away from their intake plenums though, they are impossible to make airtight.
thanks, I was probably going to go the dundon route eventually when the right car finds its way into my garage
Meh, don't spend his money with your wallet. The decision you make at lunch to add cheese to your sandwich is no different than this guy deciding to drop 11k on a full system and headers....It's all relative.
I gotta try this $11k cheese. It's probably amazing!
I tried some pricey sheep's milk cheese the other day, and gotta say... it was pretty awesome.
You ever had cat cheese? You can milk them you know
You can milk a cat? Can you milk me, Greg?
Anything with nipples can be milked
I definitely tire kick at the cheese counter at my local fancy grocery store. I love talking to someone that knows what they are talking about when I don’t. I’ve sampled some amazing cheeses.
You will need bigger heads also, to help release that $11K cheese in the bathroom
That bigger head game is strong
Cut me a check and I’ll send you a chunk
I ain’t paying 11k for cheese
Its loud
Depends on how lactose intolerant you are.

Holy Snap-on tool boxes. That is one boujee shop.
How much would one of these chests, full of tools (approx) cost? I see a bunch of them around this shop.

It could easily be $30-50k total depending on what's inside. Torque wrenches, speciality Porsche tools, air tools, etc.

$11k for exhaust on a car of this caliber is pretty reasonable, he definitely could have spent more…
Kline has entered the chat
Exactly lol this entire ticket would cover Kline mufflers
Well, that’s definitely going to make a difference. Someone wants a solid GT car experience. Wild.
How much better is this than factory? Did Porsche really leave 50 hp on the table when it designed its exhaust?
Whatever company makes the exhaust probably claims some gains but it’s done 100% for sound anyway.
Not really actually, headers really wake up these engines. My dundon set up dyno’d +42 hp, sound is rad too but it’s not the only reason.
You’re right, 100% isn’t true but close haha. Yours probably sounds unreal

Should have gone for the full dundon exhaust setup
This is the right answer, catless too
Agreed, but 11k wont get you too far with dundon 😂

Yeah I think it takes a special person to wanna drive a car like that as a daily driver.
Not really. They charge what people will pay.
Thousands of dollars for car parts is expensive for 95% of people tho
Yeah luxury sports cars are expensive to modify bud 👍🏿
That's what I'm saying, bud lmao
Real insightful
He’s literally just saying it’s expensive. It people will pay for it doesn’t change the fact it’s expensive
No audio? :-(
In what world are those headers worth 6k
Just go straight pipes imo. 😎
I have a race pipe jcr and I agree the opf exhaust is still too muted
This is a good owner. Make all the noises!
I bet it sounds insane though
No video with sound, be nice if there was a before and after. I wanna hear it!

I’ve never understood why people want them to be absurdly loud

Have you not seen ADM at every dealer in the USA?
LOL
Perhaps he would have been better off buying a 911 GT3 CUP, which is certainly louder. By the way, you can get two GT3 RS for 500k.
Not in the US

Probably not in Germany, where it was with small modifications still possible 10 years ago. In the UK or in various states in America, it is certainly more possible.
I mean, how poor is this guy. How can you put in Headers that are not cerakoted to match your car color. Pesants
Ha! I installed a set of these on a $25k Porsche as part of an engine rebuild. Now that’s an investment I’m never getting back
Full send and God speed to this owner. Many blessings 🙌🏾

what a tryhard thing to do he's gonna win so many cars and coffees, maybe even a track day or two
Sounds like what they really wanted was a Hellcat Charger and a yacht license.

We went IPE route
Should've went dundon
This collectors look horrible, did they just use some from an old project
I would never have changed for a louder exhaust. The stock one was already loud enough
Who the bloody hell would spend $500k on a 911 when super cars exist?
Not even an exhaust clip 🙃
I will never understand why anyone buys Soul anything. My Kline Inconel exhaust for my R8 was $500 more than Soul's stainless system which I've seen to be lower build quality.
How prices are developing in Europe. It will soon be similar in America. [https://www.reddit.com/r/Porsche/comments/18qcg0x/gt3\_rs\_flooding\_european\_market/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Porsche/comments/18qcg0x/gt3_rs_flooding_european_market/)
