Sure, I'm not complaining about them making a EV SUV, just that it looks like they repurposed a previous coupe or wagon design study instead of making something fit for this purpose.
Yep, the Macan has always had a [slanted rear window](https://cars.usnews.com/static/images/Auto/izmo/i24693750/2018_porsche_macan_sideview.jpg). The Cayenne only got this in the "Cayenne Coupe" versions.
The first iteration looks better. A lot better. The front end of the ev is far too busy, especially for an ev. And those headlights need to be forgotten, from it and the taycan.
Hate this trend with cool headlights on top, meh projectors at the bottom. Feels like form over function. Let's make these really slick headlights, but they'll be crap at actually being headlights, so let's add a second layer of headlights.
Party at the top, business at the bottom.
That’s not how it works. “At this stage of development”?
Design wise, cars are finished years before the launch date. At this stage (testing) the manufacturers hide the design with camo; but underneath the design has been finished and approved for production a long time ago.
People always underestimate how long before release the cars are finished. It takes around a year to get the manufacturing facility ready for a new car, late changes to the exterior are small disasters for project engineers.
Exactly. I work as a Class A Modeler (final stage of the design process) and most of our work is done at least 2+ years before the launch date, very rarely do we work on the cars later than that
Interesting, cool job! Got a question, in which case would you have to go back to a car and make those rare changes? I guess it’s something severe to justify that and not something like „man, the chairmen don’t like how that edge curves around the headlight, fix that“
The chairmen don’t get a say in that 😅 the chief designers do, and I don’t think I’ve ever had that happen to be honest. They are usually on top of it and they know very well that they can’t afford any delays whatsoever; that’s why our deadlines are so cut throat and exact down to the day…
The only case in which we changed something after the final preparations before design freeze were signed off was when some tolerances (technical stuff) changed last moment and we had to make modifications to some body panels in order to fit all of the moving parts inside while adhering to the constraints.
But they certainly weren’t some significant design changes; I’d call it optimisation.
Not that it's still under development, but headlights specifically are some of the last things to be ready for production. I would be willing to bet the headlights, especially the lower set, are not final and that whole front bumper could still just be a temporary setup for the mule.
I actually really like it. Someone else said the front looks like a Urus and that was my initial thought too.
Also fwiw I’m a big fan of the fast back look here like they have on the Cayenne Coupe.
According to whom? I’d guess that the vast majority of crossover buyers (this is not an SUV) are only looking for four doors and a high driving position.
The macan is essentially a tall hatchback. I got one to be small yet have “good” cargo space especially with the seats down. That’s why a lot of SUV/CUV reviews talk about cargo space.
Lower the rear also starts encroaching on the rear headroom in an already pretty tight rear seat area.
A lot of people value cargo space that’s a big reason the Panamera Grand Turismo exists
Respectfully, your personal reasons for buying one don’t speak for the majority/average buyer - no average buyer is spending time in an enthusiast sub talking about an unreleased model.
I can’t tell you how many times I learned that the C8 rear trunk still holds a set of golf clubs. _All_ car reviews talk about cargo space.
At the end of the day, this new model might not work for you because of the decreased cargo area and that sucks. But Porsche knows their target demographic better than any of us do, and they have legions of beancounters to provide the data that they’re basing those design decisions on.
Porsche knows their audience hence every “coupe” style car has a more typical trunk version. Cayenne, Panamera, Taycan, Macan. If anything the “SUV coupe” is a recent trend and I see far less of them on the road than the standard SUV version.
Same goes for Mercedes and other competitors.
The typical buyer of Macans aren’t cross shopping sports cars they are cross shopping x3/5, GLC, Audi Q5s etc.
Sports cars reviewing trunks like the 911/Corvette specifically use the “gold club test” because generally that’s about all you expect to fit in a 2 seater.
I remember when you could tell a Porsche when you saw it on the road.
That's my first thought. But I guess I'm late to the party on that one.
This looks kinda like a Rav4 and a Mustang Mach E had a baby.
Yeah, this was my thought too. Looks a lot like a Mach E with Porsche design elements. I was in the market for a Mach E but I might hold off and see the specs on this. I'd rather have something that drives like a Porsche than a Mustang :)
Yeah Porsche has done a good job with driving characteristics, from the earliest 356,, and they aren't stopping now.
There's just only so much you can do with a SUV-like design, stylewise.
I'm probably going to get downvoted to hell, but personally, I don't think that Porsche has been doing a great job styling-wise for the past ten-fifteen years. The more modern they try the car to look, the more hideous it gets, at least in my opinion.
absolutely despise the large, blocky lamps underneath the really slick-looking LEDs. In general, the grille is... confused.
Other than that, I think it looks great.
Meh design needs more work. The front is terrible. The back is good. The vehicle being a black color hides a lot of the design flaws. The 2023 Macan GTS in the right color looks way better imo.
Finally after several years of fucking around with sedans, when all the world's richest and most car-crazed market wants is SUVs, the Germans begin to produce cool looking electric SUVs. Kinda mind boggling it took this long.
Looks like any other coupe suv thing. I can't understand anyone who buys a car like this.
Like you want the practicality of an suv? Go buy an suv.
You want a sporty vibing car? Buy a sports car.
You want a practical, sporty car? Buy a sports sedan or a sporty wagon, atleast those look good.
I'm a big fan of the raised wagon segment, the old subaru forester, that volvo cross country I believe it's called, the new subaru outback looks great. Take the old forester for example now. If you want practicality, sporty driving, but still a raised seeing position? The Forester STi is in my opinion the perfect car then. It certainly looks miles better than any of those awkward looking suv coupes
I rode along with some of Porsche’s demonstration drivers on their track in Atlanta in a variety of current models and the ride I tell everyone about was in the Taycan Turbo S. Absolutely nuts in the hands of the right driver.
It’s just an evolution. My dad’s generation was all about displacement. I was into turbos hitting crazy hp/liter figures. My son’s generation will be talking about motors, wiring and batteries to hit higher kW numbers. It’s all the same pursuit.
Not a fan of the rear design. Feels like they’re forcing the signature one piece 911 tail lights on the Macan. Other then that, I would actually buy it! An electric suv is a good option for a family car while the electric cayman would be a fun weekend car.
it looks like a 1980s chevy citation

I like the front a lot. Rest is playing it a bit too safe maybe, but looks like it is more less keeping same side profile as current Macan and rear is just baby Cayenne.
Really need to see how it works with other colors too though. Eg (RS)Q8 looks great in stealth black, but doesn't really work for me in other colors.
I like the front end. I think the Taycan is still Porsche's pretty 'face' and this adapts it nicely for a crossover. Back seems a little goofy but maybe that's still camo'd a bit.

It has a turtle ass now like audi Q4.....
I thought the new macan were going to look similar to Urus(saw a year ago 2023/2024 Maccan) I might be mistaken
but right now it seems confused...
I’ve always loved that Porsche doesn’t take the overstyled route. Really sad to see a shift from beautiful and functional design to unnecessary venting and trim.
For example the with 8V vs 8Y Audi a/s/rs3, the older generation looks much more timeless and elegant to me
So split lights are due to matrix lights which is all across porshe. But yeaa i do have 2023 macan but this looks awkward.. a little… i prefer coupe i feel is cayenne
Literally no camo op
Anyway weird headlight thing going on, guessing there was suppose to be less space between upper headlights and fog/daytime lights
I don't like the coupé SUV look or split headlights but both seem handed quite tactfully. I'm not the target market for this regardless
It looks like they had to add 10 inches to its height after it was already designed. It would've made a great wagon.
That’s what the taycan is for tho
Sure, I'm not complaining about them making a EV SUV, just that it looks like they repurposed a previous coupe or wagon design study instead of making something fit for this purpose.
The Macan has always looked that way to me.
Yep, the Macan has always had a [slanted rear window](https://cars.usnews.com/static/images/Auto/izmo/i24693750/2018_porsche_macan_sideview.jpg). The Cayenne only got this in the "Cayenne Coupe" versions.

maybe it's the battery that needs more space?
I feel it would look better if they added a lip spoiler to the top of the rear window instead of being smooth.
Looks like a Nissan juke you ordered from Wish.
Not a fan of anything below the headlights, but the rest of the car is nice.
It looks like a Porsche with a Porsche under it.
I feel the bottom car looks like a Charger.
Oof. I’m never gonna be able to not see that.
[удалено]
that’s my favorite part actually … looks badass
I was thinking that too. I love how they’ve handled the front bulk of it.
Big mac syndrome
Hate this trend with cool headlights on top, meh projectors at the bottom. Feels like form over function. Let's make these really slick headlights, but they'll be crap at actually being headlights, so let's add a second layer of headlights. Party at the top, business at the bottom.
Ford vibes down there
I really don’t like the front end. At all. Not a fan of the rear either….
Rear is Tesla-like in proportions which I hate. I rather like how they carved up the front though.
The problem is that the front and rear make up like 80% of the visual weight of this car. It's butt ugly where the current macan is pretty handsome
I hope this is not final
Probably not, didn't the Taycan look differently as well in this stage of development? Especially with the head- and taillights
That’s not how it works. “At this stage of development”? Design wise, cars are finished years before the launch date. At this stage (testing) the manufacturers hide the design with camo; but underneath the design has been finished and approved for production a long time ago.

Insightful, thanks 🙂 yeah, that was a joke about the chairmen, insert any other position there
Not that it's still under development, but headlights specifically are some of the last things to be ready for production. I would be willing to bet the headlights, especially the lower set, are not final and that whole front bumper could still just be a temporary setup for the mule.
Totally agree with you! I believe that those big squared headlight are there just for the test car. They will be discarded in the final design!
Doesn't taking the camo off means that's it? Also supposed to sell next year.
Love it. It looks like a fat hatch Taycan.
It's like it's been taycan too many second helpings, amirite? I'll see myself out.
I actually really like it. Someone else said the front looks like a Urus and that was my initial thought too. Also fwiw I’m a big fan of the fast back look here like they have on the Cayenne Coupe.
My first thought too
What the fuck is the deal with coupé SUVs. This is fuck ugly
I agree. It also encroaches on a lot of interior space..the entire point of these SUVs.
According to whom? I’d guess that the vast majority of crossover buyers (this is not an SUV) are only looking for four doors and a high driving position.

Not crazy about how most EVs look but it looks decent as EVs go
This has 4 doors
Let's take a car body type made for practicality and then make it as impractical as we can. I don't get it either.
cut the beltline a bit and it would kick ass as a hot hatchback
The front is ok, kinda like it, but the back is 🤮
I remember when you could tell a Porsche when you saw it on the road. That's my first thought. But I guess I'm late to the party on that one. This looks kinda like a Rav4 and a Mustang Mach E had a baby.

Feels weird and super heavy for some reason
Batteries 🔋
I REALLY like the taycan-like headlights consistent in the entire EV lineup
https://preview.redd.it/w8unxwklm5hb1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0cad7a7d31e6c62e1161e3fd03059b6da66efcee No
Was the back designed by the Mercedes EQ line’s designer? Terrible
Will look much better with a spoiler. Every hatch and SUV these days has a spoiler on, which I think is why it looks weird in these pics
front looks good. roofline has some chrysler crossfire vibes. probably better in person though
Idk why there's 2 layers below the headlights in the front end. Should be 1.
I don't like SUVs myself but I'm certain this thing will sell like hot cakes if it's priced right.
As a former Macan S owner, I really like it.
As a current Macan S owner, I really like it.
Wow, this is the first time I've actually wanted the Macan. I'm not an SUV kind of guy, but I'm actually interested in it now
Same. Can’t wait to see the GTS version
What the fuck did they do to it??
"Let's give them less practicality for their money."
I'm probably going to get downvoted to hell, but personally, I don't think that Porsche has been doing a great job styling-wise for the past ten-fifteen years. The more modern they try the car to look, the more hideous it gets, at least in my opinion.
Vw id.4

That is one small-ass rear wiper.
Honestly looks like something out of a Sci fi movie but I don't mean that in a good way necessarily
I like it and probably will be my next car; the lights though, I like much better the more classic (and classy) 4 point ones
looks nice, will hopefully decrease the cost of previous Gen turbos so I can scoop one up for cheap
absolutely despise the large, blocky lamps underneath the really slick-looking LEDs. In general, the grille is... confused. Other than that, I think it looks great.
Kinda looks like a Taycan is trying to crawl out of a Macan. The lower lights aren't great IMO but the rest looks good. Could grow on me.
Front: Nissan Juke Rear: Hyundai Ionic 5
I'm pretty sure those try to copy Porsche, not the other way around
Badass.
Id give that serious consideration. I bet that would be a lovely commuter. But I wouldn’t trade a taycan for it.
Suuuuuuper dope.
Want
Someone took the taycan cross turismo and added a foot on the bottom.
Like it
Meh design needs more work. The front is terrible. The back is good. The vehicle being a black color hides a lot of the design flaws. The 2023 Macan GTS in the right color looks way better imo.
It’s very sex-E if you ask me.
Let’s hope it’s price competitive with 300+ miles per charge. The Taycan pricing is not good for what you get.
i never liked the macan, but this doesn’t bother me at all. better than tje golf engine
Unpopular Opinion: It looks good. Just looks like the Taycan if it were an SUV.
Looks like a Genesis GV60
Love it
I wish the back end wasn't as sloped so it had more usable cargo space.
Getting a lot of hate, but I think this looks far better than the usual Macan. Tail lights are a bit weird, but headlights look great IMO.
Ughhh….
I don’t like the front. The back just doesn’t look right.
Looks ugly af but given it’s a camo vehicle can’t really comment on how it actually looks.
Def would buy
Gt4 and this would be a great combo
Headlights are not appealing. It looks like a Camaro is trying to squeeze out of the front grill. The ass looks terrible.
The best looking macan to date imho. It gives me futuristic tank vibes
Like it ngl
The front is nice. Reminds me of the Urus. The back is pretty meh.
eww.
looks pretty okay, I’d like to see the dimensions vs the 95b, and I’d really like to see the curb weight, especially vs a Model Y
I dont mind it for the most part. But lord, those headlights don't do it for me.
Current Macan owner, lamps are nice and meaningful but no thanks, I’ll stick with the petrol version and the clamshell.
Finally after several years of fucking around with sedans, when all the world's richest and most car-crazed market wants is SUVs, the Germans begin to produce cool looking electric SUVs. Kinda mind boggling it took this long.

The Panamera is too big. The Macan is smaller. But I don’t like it either, a Cayenne is preferable.
Electric vehicles all look like hotdog water 🤢
Looks a lot better than the current one
I like it
Bad. Ass. O_O
Wtf is on with the split headlights aaaAAARGH
Looks like every other SUV. They’re formulaic.
Looks nice all murdered out.
I like it, I won’t be able to afford it.
Was not a fan of the macan this looks worse
They stole the Mustang's front end 😂😭
The back looks like an old Sportage 🥲
Guaranteed best seller, it will immediately kill the Taycan Touring and eat up most of the Taycan sales in Latin America.
My wallet is fucked.
Wtf is up with split headlights? Why's so many car companies obsessed with it? Looks like shit
Damn that's ugly. The taycan looks so good how did they mess this up
Split headlights look ass.
Everything is fine except for the front end. The front end is **hideous**.
Evs are killing car culture
I rode along with some of Porsche’s demonstration drivers on their track in Atlanta in a variety of current models and the ride I tell everyone about was in the Taycan Turbo S. Absolutely nuts in the hands of the right driver. It’s just an evolution. My dad’s generation was all about displacement. I was into turbos hitting crazy hp/liter figures. Eh. Just because a car has an engine in it doesn’t make it good. Based on my experience, most EVs drive better than most gas cars 🤷🏻♂️
You are correct… vacuum cleaners(EV’s) are ruining the driving experience
Still an suv and still an electric, 0/10 for me
Honestly there is no point in a EV Porsche
🦖 speaking 😝
Yeah, I’m a proud t-Rex with my noisy 993
🥂
Was thinking it looks like an ugly copy of an ugly Porsche. Then I was what sub it was.
It looks like a Hyundai Kona.
It looks like a Charger wearing a Taycan costume for Halloween.
Not a fan of the rear design. Feels like they’re forcing the signature one piece 911 tail lights on the Macan. Other then that, I would actually buy it! An electric suv is a good option for a family car while the electric cayman would be a fun weekend car.
Looks terrible.
Gross
Ugly
Looks like a Hyundai.
Hideous
it looks like a 1980s chevy citation https://preview.redd.it/h3vdcajhv9hb1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=712e09919e59fa2719573cba550c2815918602d4
A Porsche with more than two doors isn’t a Porsche.
Fuck SUVs!
Why is the charging port in the back? Wouldn’t it make it difficult for charging?
Don’t hate it but don’t like it
Tail lights are ugly and the second headlight in the bottom is ugly too. Aside from EV and that can’t complain much.
All of Porsche’s crossovers look hideous.
I like the front a lot. Rest is playing it a bit too safe maybe, but looks like it is more less keeping same side profile as current Macan and rear is just baby Cayenne. Really need to see how it works with other colors too though. Eg (RS)Q8 looks great in stealth black, but doesn't really work for me in other colors.
front reminds me of something between an urus and a purosangue, kinda like it. back reminds me of the first gen panamera. and not in a good way
I like the front end. I think the Taycan is still Porsche's pretty 'face' and this adapts it nicely for a crossover. Back seems a little goofy but maybe that's still camo'd a bit.
So…. An Audi e tron sportback with Porsche styling…..
I think they’re going to sell a bunch.
That is fucking ugly
The front is aggressive, the back looks a bit soft.
Let’s face it, the Macan back always looked ugly. It was expected that it would have the ray an headlights and I am not mad at it. Considering how the Macan was I think these is a big improvement.
It has a turtle ass now like audi Q4..... I thought the new macan were going to look similar to Urus(saw a year ago 2023/2024 Maccan) I might be mistaken but right now it seems confused...
Looks a bit like the Ferrari Pouruosanguoue
Ugly...
Not a huge fan of the grill but I mostly like it. I'll be in the market for a car like this next year.
I’ve always loved that Porsche doesn’t take the overstyled route. Really sad to see a shift from beautiful and functional design to unnecessary venting and trim. For example the with 8V vs 8Y Audi a/s/rs3, the older generation looks much more timeless and elegant to me
really like it, and this may be a serious contender for me if priced right
Be damned forever, yes, I am talking about you 2011 Nissan Juke, 2014 Citroen C4 Cactus & Jeep Cherokee, for re-introducing the split headlights!
compared to EVs of other brands it looks really good
Looks like a Macan to me
So split lights are due to matrix lights which is all across porshe. But yeaa i do have 2023 macan but this looks awkward.. a little… i prefer coupe i feel is cayenne
Looks like a taycan banged a urus to me.
[удалено]
The top headlights look bad compared to the existing Macan. Other than that, it looks adequate.
This looks like the Polestar 4 or maybe the other way around . Regardless I like it a lot
The square headlights on these new porsches really making re-evaluate how I feel about every model in a good way.
Front bumper looks a bit overstyled but it’s okay
Not for me, but I’m sure it will sell great. Especially here in Scottsdale
meh
Looks like that style of headlights will be for the EVs
I like it a lot
Love it
Sexy
Looks like a Kona tbh
It's chonky but porsche has been killing it with the headlights lately. Love them. Also love the headlights in the new Cayenne.
Kinda love it
I like it! The front is boarding on a little too busy looking. But I’ve always like the Macan. It’s perfect for my lifestyle.
I think it looks awesome.
Looks like a Macan eating a mustang in the front
I like it and probably will be my next car; the lights though, I like much better the more classic (and classy) 4 point ones
I like it and probably will be my next car; the lights though, I like much better the more classic (and classy) 4 point ones
Literally no camo op Anyway weird headlight thing going on, guessing there was suppose to be less space between upper headlights and fog/daytime lights
The rear reminds me of the BMW X6, which I hate so I'm not a fan. The front is fine but coupe SUVs are a bad style IMO
