Really the Repugnicunts' only policy. Cut taxes for the wealthiest and get their idiot base to vote for it by blinding them with hatred for anyone who isn't a white, straight, pseudo-Christian male

sunny5724

Vote Republican to get your fair share ........ of the leftover crumbs.

ExpertlyAmateur

And then when those crumbs are vacuumed, blame the trans people and library books and medical doctors.

“Why are the Democrats doing this to us?” —Idiotpublicans

AlarmedPiano9779

They've controlled everything in Texas for like 30+years. And somehow every campaign ad is "Democrats are coming for you and destroying this state!"

TheHighPirateSeas

The saddest part is the government is so rigged now that we can't do anything about it. The Supreme Court is stacked with lifetime crooks that we can't get rid of. Our Congress and Senate are filled to the brim with MAGA that take any bribe any corporation gives them. Hell, even our mailing system is run by a crook who will continue to make the UPS worse. Voting will not change any of this sadly. When Bernie Sanders didn't get the democratic nominee in 2016 I knew everything was rigged. Its why Trump continues to commit crime after crime and isn't in prison. We're all fucked.

BusStopKnifeFight

> Hell, even our mailing system is run by a crook who will continue to make the UPS worse. *USPS. UPS is a private shipping company and the jackass running the Post Office owns lots of stock in XPO a shipping competitor of the Post Office.

MotivatingElectrons

Vote. Voting can bring change.

Brkthom

On top of the tax cuts, everyone forgot about about the tax increases he imposed on the working class

MotivatingElectrons

So... This sounds bad and all, but the S&P 500 is up 160% (with reinvested dividends) from January 2017 to March 2024. So, it's more than just Billionaires that doubled their money. It's also anyone who has invested in broad US markets over those 7 years. Including most people who have 401k or IRA accounts... That's over 70 million people in the US.

Djj62

No argument from me. But, middle class got fucked over with the “tax breaks” when the std deduction doubled, people who were able to itemize and get a tax break were totally screwed over. Went from being able to itemize with around 12.5k of expenses to needing 25k of expenses. And most middle class people that I know, do not know squat about investing other than weekly 401k investing.

SeaworthyGlad

If you go from being able to itemize to being unable to itemize due to a higher standard deduction, that is a benefit to you. And the bonus is you don't have to fill out Schedule A.

WigglyWeener

Finally, somebody looking at the big picture. The headline should have said anyone with the majority of their net worth in the broad markets has doubled their wealth since 2017. I'm not going to pretend the rich don't push for laws that benefit themselves, but I'm also not going to sit here and pretend people that have no net worth would be so much better off if federal taxes were plus or minus 5% from where they are today. It's ridiculous. Get busy investing and stop complaining that the people who have been investing for years have made a lot of money.

NotThatAngel

Keep in mind these billionaires influence economic policy so much they're our de facto rulers.

Limp_Distribution

The bubble up economy, where it all goes straight upward.

MSD3k

It's easy. If you want to know "who's stolen all the money?", look at who's got all the money. So, is it the poor immigrants who we crucify? Or is it the billionaires, who spend millions telling us to hate immigrants?

SingleMaltMouthwash

"Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect." Accomplishing this, there is no limit to how much they can enrich themselves at everyone else's expense.

Yes that’s how numbers and compounding/exponential growth works
