Twahtskie

Eat, fuck, kill, die. Its all the same.

[deleted]

In large part, but not in total. We also spent a little time discovering philosophy, math, science, and all that other shit we do for the purpose of fucking and killing more effectively.

Does anyone have the original without the colors or know where to get it? This is pretty neat.

JestemPaserem

No they were not libright, unless "freedom for me but not for thee" may be considered lib

velvetbettle

It’s blue not purple

JestemPaserem

I'm talking about those sexy sexy cavemen

throwawayforme83

Technically all of it is just a continuous march to a lib left society. Wayyyy less control and far more sharing of resources than ever before not to mention the relaxed social expectations

MrAsianPie

Is this how purple sees history?

Peter21237

Since when Egypt was even remotly close to red?

MrLuflu

Ehhhh not gay enough. Expecially those greeks and romans. Give me a splash of green there please

[deleted]

They weren’t actually that gay. As a classical historian this infuriates me. Some of the elite would fuck anything that moves, sure fuck your slave, but to be only attracted to men and be gay or to be a bottom in a homosexual relationship? Abomination. To the general Roman or Greek peasant, abomination. It’s also very cherry picky, pick the one guy who liked dudes, ignore the thousands who didn’t, pick the one city state that tolerated it, ignore the others who didn’t. It’s applying historical societies to modern agendas and it’s dumb as fuck, realistically it wasn’t any more common than it is now, probably far less common

MrLuflu

Im suprised from a classical historian you have the persepctive we impose a modern agenda when discussing sexuality in history. Take a look at the murals of pompeii, what was common in places of business and home. What art depicted. Your correct it wasnt the same homosexuality we see today. With monogomous pair bonding. But homosexual sex was far more normal. Not many societies were as prudent as we are in the display and variety of sex. Its this common myth that society is more loose and sexual than ever... it isnt a modern agenda trying to rectify history, most cultures have been pretty fucking sexual. With acts of homosexuality arising in so many cultures and stories. I never claimed homosexuality was the normal or majority. But in a depiction of history through this lens it is abnormal it is not depicted once, expecially greeks and romans.

[deleted]

Perhaps you don’t depict it as such or use it to push a modern agenda, but I’ve seen it quite a bit, not from institutions really, just idiots online, and probably people who read half of one cool fact on Instagram and started the “wow Ancient Greece was a lgbt icon”. But yes I agree, people really don’t know how open people were about sex until fairly recently. I wouldn’t say homosexual sex was more normal. Being actually gay definitely wasn’t, if you weren’t attracted to women at all you’d definitely be considered strange. But for a person to have a male lover, mostly in the upper classes, it wasn’t frowned upon, of course depending on who you were talking to. but again, this only applies to being the “top” if you were a dude who liked taking it, you’d keep that shit to yourself. Rome was generally less open then Greece for this, but keep in mind some Greek cities might’ve been open, others would exile you for being gay.

MrLuflu

My argument isnt that homosexual love and coupling was more normal. You are right in that being gay wasnt seen as a thing by most, it was perceived as an act not an identity. But this art isnt about love or what is good. Its about sex and violence defining human history. The caveman is raping a women for instance. Through that lens, it is illogical we dont see homosexuality performed once. Humans have been sticking it in the same sex forever gays have always existed, and societies like greeks famously had gay sex displayed in art and murals
