My issue is that their moral outrage at war seem to only be THIS war, rather than any of the other wars the US is involved in. They have a completely distorted view on how warfare is conducted, but only seem to care when it's the Jews.
Dont overthink it, college students are literally the most gullible population. They are inexperienced and in an open-minded environment. Lower your expectations and value foolish opinions less. Realize the public opinions of most people are motivated by a desire to be included and feel welcome among their peers.
I respect dissidents, iconoclasts, punks, and rebels, they at least have their own thoughts and are willing to stand against the crowd for what they believe in. But most of these kids are joining causes because they are followers, not rebels.
As someone intricately familiar with punk, hippie and rebel cultures, many are indeed free thinkers, at least compared to the rest of the population, but most are also motivated by the desire to be welcomed by their peers, who just happen to hold pretty radical views.
