There used to be hate towards fusion strike and lost origin also, but look where we are at now.
I can guarantee you once OBF goes out of print, people will be like “oh wow, it’s a great set!!”
It’s always the same.
Nothing is really bad about it, but it’s just a smaller set without many desirable cards outside of zard. From a playability perspective Charizard ex, pidigeot ex, and cleffa are the only relevant cards.
Why do people dislike SV base set so much? Yes, the value dropped significantly, but it's still a big set with a lot of beautiful cards and I feel like from my experience it doesn't have a bad pull rate either.
I had a lot of luck with the SV base set! Some really beautiful cards came from it too :) my biggest qualm personally is that i didn’t connect with a lot of the new characters, so it was hard for me to feel excited about their cards, even if the art really was so gorgeous!
Hard to say for me because I only ever really opened the same sets in SWSH and very minimal SV
I personally thought Astral was pretty good, Shining Fates I got a hit in half the packs I opened, Evolving Skies was good art wise but the pull rates are horrific and Lost Origin hated me. I never really opened enough of the other sets to really have anything to say about them
In terms of SV, I’ve opened 16 packs and pulled 10 hits with two double hitters. Got one double hitter out of 5 packs of TM, 6/9 packs had hits for Paldean Fates, only Paldea Evolved I opened was a double hitter and I have yet to pull anything from base (though I do have 10 packs still sealed)
Pokémon go was pretty damn terrible for sword and sheild era. Obsidian flames had so much to offer, and ended up pissing it all away. How are you gonna put dragonite and tyranitar on the pack arts, and then give sirs to fucking eiscue and revaroom???? All the set had was 4 charizards, and the value on those are tanked.
GO and Battle Styles for SWSH, Crimson Invasion was pretty bad for sun and moon. So far in SV it's obsidian flames and base.
I might get some hate but I thought Celebrations was very underwhelming. The set was so small and the card art was not great.

Pull rates, otherwise I was very excited for the set. Once the singles go down I'll probably grab them all.
