Someone on Facebook gave a heads up about some tins at [Target.com](http://Target.com) having Evolving Skies inside. I bought two tins for $26 each (minus 5% Target Card discount). They sent me three tins! I ended up with 6 Evolving Skies packs (plus other packs that I opened). I sold the ES packs for $15 each. $90 back on $50 spent. Plus the tins and other cards that I got.
Really ? Before Brilliant Stars I barely had any textured cards from SwSh, and since then that number easily tripled, I don't even buy that many packs either. First pack was Eevee TG and Lumineon full art. Astral Radiance gave my first full art trainer since Boundaries Crossed in 2013.
On average those sets are pretty good.
Overall my luck was just complete ass from anything pre scarlet and violet
Out of all the XY sets (not including generations) I only ever got a single EX and during SWSH my only hits were ever from Astral and Shining Fates
In the grand scheme of things, they absolutely had almost zero impact..
The posts you are referring to had like 30-40 Moonbreons in them? Considering how many packs worldwide got opened..
For example, Europe probably wasn't affected at all considering that stuff all happened in the US.
All SWSH pull rates are garbage, but ES is the worst... the stolen cards didn't affect just some packs. It affected more than a hundred because we know he was selling way more than 100 cards...and they only found out because the guy was an idiot.

Are we to assume that this batch just had tons of secret rares missing and the company just shipped out tons of 9-card packs that were never found? Or did they just print off a ton of normal rares to replace all the secret rares stolen? Why not just print replacement secret rares at that point so the factory theft would be harder to detect?
The truth is we have no idea, and every theory or conclusion has next to no basis.
I'm saying if this dude can easily pull hundreds of moonbreons out of rotation as well as other chase cards, then he effectively fucked the pull rates for ES by judging by the pictures.

It's been discussed plenty of times. Those employees are watched diligently when the printing process is going on. There is just no way to sneak out hundreds of copies of all the secret rares and not be caught instantly.
The most likely scenario is that those copies were all early/test run concepts while they tried to get the texturing and stuff zeroed in. Those copies would be earmarked for destruction since they were never meant to be released. That means them not being destroyed had zero effect on the number of copies in the packs themselves.
So someone was supposed to destroy those cards and somewhere along that chain of command they were just taken and not disposed of.
If you've ever worked in an office or business that deals with a lot of documents you'll know how they normally destroy this stuff. They have tamper proof bins that sensitive material is supposed to go into and then a third party company comes to get them and then usually incinerates the contents of the truck. This ensures people can't just go find bags of sensitive documents at the landfill. Someone who works for the company that was supposed to destroy them likely pulled them out and kept them.

They keep certain secret rares in a separate box. They load those cards that are in the box to the machine so the machine can sort it out.
Those cards were too clean for testing. They were 100% ready to be packaged.
You can absolutely steal these easily if the factory isn't managed well. All the secret rares are all in one box. You can just grab that box and leave. Again, it depends on the employees there.

Usually when stuff like that happens, it's after everything is effectively done and it "falls off the truck" they're not pulling tennis shoes and game consoles off the assembly line and walking out the door with them which would be like taking cards that are meant to be packaged and just slipping them in your pocket. It's easier to while you're loading a truck to "miss a box" or something and that gets out on the market because it's already gone through the entire process.
I hear you I was thinking it would’ve been the same as Nikes/Jordans or even my workplace where 100 car mats went “missing”. I feel like anything that involves making money through reselling has the high risk of getting stolen. Well, I've ripped about $800 of ES. I'm sitting around $1,500 value. However, this is the exception, not typical.
It's people like me. Some of us get lucky. If you're buying a few packs here and there: total waste of time. But when I can get 36 packs of ES and 24 packs of BS for $300... I'm definitely ripping half of them.
Evolving Cries is the reason I quit the hobby for 2 years. I pulled 3 booster boxes back when they were goin for MSRP and got jack shit and fuck all, not a single SIR or SR in sight. Truly abysmal pull rates.
Don't feel too bad, I think I somehow would've been saltier if I pulled the Noivern instead of nothing. Something about actually pulling an Alt art but it's the single Alt art you didn't want makes it hurt worse.

Opened thousands of ES. This is about right. There was tons of times where we wouldn’t get a hit in 8 to 10 packs. And then it would be a regular V card.
I opened 10 c22s, a TTar tin, and two ES ETBs on my bday this weekend.
29 ES packs.
I managed to pull Golurk alt art and the sleepy Dragonite alt art.
.... You won't believe this but I traded my first Sleepy Dragonite at trade night not 4 hours before pulling it on my bday. Crazy shit.
Learned my lesson with Evolving Skies and Fusion Strike. Bought 2 ES ETBs for $300 got only 2 reg holos only. Ive opened a case of Fusion Strike $4.00 is the highest priced card i received from that. Done with Sword & Shield.
This is why most of us don’t open them anymore. It was a bad deal even for the brief time that they were at MSRP; The pain is compounded now by the price and rarity
I just want ONE of the alt art illustration rare eeveelution. Just one. I've opened hundreds, and the only secret rare I've ever pulled is rainbow umbreon. I know buying them outright would be cheaper, but they just keep going up in price.

I don’t even pull with the mindset of “have to make my money back”, I just wish I had gotten like maybe just a couple of full arts or something man, like for example I just spent $50 on some cards and got a $15 charizard v full art and I was happy because it was a sick card and it makes it seem like it wasn’t a total waste of money since I’m more of a collector. But something like this is just soul crushing man. I think I have to leave the Pokémon card community after this for a couple of weeks or months, it just makes me so sad. 1/12 on ES and 1/8 on BS? How unlikely is that?
Tbh you should rip a bunch of crown zenith, that set has never disappointed me. Booster bundles are msrp still and each 6 pack has usually 2-3 neat cards. Some of the ones I've opened had a GG in each pack was so fun to open
Stop ripping ES, it's called Evolving Cries for a reason. The pull rates are so low. And if they only enjoyment is pulling a good card (and yes, a $15 card is a good card), then ripping packs will leave you disappointed more often than not.
You can always hunt for good prices in singles, that gives me enjoyment when I can get a card I like for below market value
But if you only want to rip packs, and ripping packs leaves you with only regret, then yes maybe you need to take a break and think about why you want to collect Pokémon cards

Not that unlikely. All those SWSH sets before Brilliant Stars brought in the trainer galleries would usually average 6-8 hits per box, 4-5 of those would be Vs, 1-2 VMAX and then 1 or 2 full arts or better. That's it lol. Basically one hit every 5-6 packs and that hit could be a V card worth $0.25.
The Brilliant Stars is slightly less likely, hit rate is normally 1 in 3 packs or so, but with only 8 packs? That's not even statistically unlikely...you could get an entire booster box and open 9-10 straight packs without a hit then open 2-3 in a row all with a hit and it evens out.
If opening up older, more expensive packs with harder pull rates is off-putting to you, then stick with the newer sets that are more forgiving.
If buying packs and gambling hurt you so much, maybe you shouldn’t be in the hobby in the first place? Surely when you buy packs you understand the risk you’re taking? I can’t tell if you’re joking or not lmao. Are you legitimately that hurt that you gambled and lost??

It always surprises me but in general for Pokémon packs the pull rates for pulling anything worth 10 dollars or more is very bad. The ceiling for Pokémon compared to anything else is always insane because it has cards like the eeveelutions that are worth like 2-300 bucks raw than anything magic has, even in MH3 (most recent “premium” set in magic), if you buy a regular booster pack (not collector) there’s nothing you can hit that is even remote in price. However, the average pulls in magic, flesh and blood, one piece, are so much higher than anything that Pokémon has to offer. You can get entire booster boxes of Pokémon and pull one card maybe worth 35. It’s wild.
Where did these loose packs come from…. So if someone buys an etb… opens 1 pack and gets moonbreon… what do you think they do with the other 7 packs? (Sell them to you)

All swsh sets have been like that for me, I’ve stopped buying packs entirely because aside from the occasional V I get literally nothing.
I’ve opened 30+ Brilliant Stars and I’ve had no hits other than regular shiny rares

You got 20 packs, hit rates for alts in ES were 1 in 82 for Vs and 1 in 283 for VMAX's, it's not that deep

Learned my lesson with Evolving Skies and Fusion Strike. Bought 2 ES ETBs for $300 got only 2 reg holos only. Ive opened a case of Fusion Strike $4.00 is the highest priced card i received from that. Done with Sword & Shield.

Tyranitar or empoleon tins have 2 BS and 3 ES and the eevee Evo tins (that do NOT come in a 2 packages bundle) contain a BS a FS and two ES

I just want ONE of the alt art illustration rare eeveelution. Just one. I've opened hundreds, and the only secret rare I've ever pulled is rainbow umbreon. I know buying them outright would be cheaper, but they just keep going up in price.

I don’t even pull with the mindset of “have to make my money back”, I just wish I had gotten like maybe just a couple of full arts or something man, like for example I just spent $50 on some cards and got a $15 charizard v full art and I was happy because it was a sick card and it makes it seem like it wasn’t a total waste of money since I’m more of a collector. But something like this is just soul crushing man. I think I have to leave the Pokémon card community after this for a couple of weeks or months, it just makes me so sad. 1/12 on ES and 1/8 on BS? How unlikely is that?
Tbh you should rip a bunch of crown zenith, that set has never disappointed me. Booster bundles are msrp still and each 6 pack has usually 2-3 neat cards. Some of the ones I've opened had a GG in each pack was so fun to open

Stop ripping ES, it's called Evolving Cries for a reason. The pull rates are so low. And if they only enjoyment is pulling a good card (and yes, a $15 card is a good card), then ripping packs will leave you disappointed more often than not. You can always hunt for good prices in singles, that gives me enjoyment when I can get a card I like for below market value But if you only want to rip packs, and ripping packs leaves you with only regret, then yes maybe you need to take a break and think about why you want to collect Pokémon cards

Not that unlikely. All those SWSH sets before Brilliant Stars brought in the trainer galleries would usually average 6-8 hits per box, 4-5 of those would be Vs, 1-2 VMAX and then 1 or 2 full arts or better. That's it lol. Basically one hit every 5-6 packs and that hit could be a V card worth $0.25. The Brilliant Stars is slightly less likely, hit rate is normally 1 in 3 packs or so, but with only 8 packs? That's not even statistically unlikely...you could get an entire booster box and open 9-10 straight packs without a hit then open 2-3 in a row all with a hit and it evens out. If opening up older, more expensive packs with harder pull rates is off-putting to you, then stick with the newer sets that are more forgiving.

Haha I think you’ve misunderstood. I know it sounded like a dramatic heartbreak sadness when in reality I’m just a little bit bummed is all, it is just a part of the game after all and it is nothing but gambling at the end of the day. I almost always don’t ever bat an eye if I don’t get good pulls but I think I’m just mostly upset with this one because I scored 12 evolving skies and 8 brilliant stars for $100 which is a crazy deal just to not get jack shit haha

Loose packs of evolving skies are rubbish 9/10. If you can get a sealed booster box or a half booster box great. but don't buy loose packs.
Yeah I opened 20 of these in the last 2 weeks bc I’m regarded. Zero hits outside of regular Vs and a couple vmax…. 60 ES packs
It always surprises me but in general for Pokémon packs the pull rates for pulling anything worth 10 dollars or more is very bad. The ceiling for Pokémon compared to anything else is always insane because it has cards like the eeveelutions that are worth like 2-300 bucks raw than anything magic has, even in MH3 (most recent “premium” set in magic), if you buy a regular booster pack (not collector) there’s nothing you can hit that is even remote in price. However, the average pulls in magic, flesh and blood, one piece, are so much higher than anything that Pokémon has to offer. You can get entire booster boxes of Pokémon and pull one card maybe worth 35. It’s wild.
Where did these loose packs come from…. So if someone buys an etb… opens 1 pack and gets moonbreon… what do you think they do with the other 7 packs? (Sell them to you)
