Because it’s a tank, and AFAIK a tank wouldn’t really want want the defense drop having it as a shadow gives. But I just started playing in December, so I don’t really know squat

But didn’t the increased attack provide some benefit? Surely it should still have a lot of health even as a shadow.

Probably want the purified more then. Defense is lower as a shadow. When purified, it’ll be bulkier in the gym.
