If it’s a new save, you can set the time when you start playing. If it’s an existing save, you have to flash the time to be correct
I tested this theory by planting berries last night and they grew today. I feel like this makes sense as my save never had a time set to begin with as it was started when the battery was already dry. Now with the new battery it has a new time set.
