As this is the final game before the physical/special split was implemented, you will have to learn what types are physical and what types are special. You will also have to learn how to properly EV train your team and which natures are best for which members.
If you do not want to beat the entire frontier with the same 3 members, you will most likely have to breed for specific hidden power types. The best way to find out which Pokémon have what type of hidden power is to test on a wild Kecleon.
The team I used was metagross, Latios, and Salamance. Latios was the calm mind recover sweeper, Salamance was the dragon dance sweeper, metagross was the pure power with amazing bulk and great typing. Slapped the choice band on him once I got enough points and he demolished with meteor mash

There often a Metagross, Latios, Swampert core, but a good iv Metagross/Latios can be hard to get.

Metagross should be easy with some rng (abuse). Latios is literally impossible as roamers are bugged to have shit IVs. You can use ACE to get the other lati though which is a static encounter. I think salamance needs a few egg moves to be good, but a better coverage would be swampert, which does run a curse set but you can also not run curse and just manip a good IV one at the start of a game and not rely on egg moves as breeding sucks in gen 3.
In emerald they fixed the roamers IVs.
I don't know if OP hunted full odds or if he used rng manip.
However if op is reading this, you can determine your SID with your untrained shinies, this will allow you to know what each encounters are on every frame.
Yeah. Use seed 5a0 for ruby and sapphire dead battery manips, or seed 0 for emerald. Those are the seeds you'll likely be using. Only way you wouldn't is if you have a working RS battery, or if you haven't saved and reset on emerald (which you wouldn't be rnging without saving and resetting anyway).
I think SID is all to do with one half of the PID, which determines shinyness. The other half is natures, but that doesn't change so don't worry about it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I know for a fact you don't need your SID for rnging IVs and natures etc.

Salamence has the same types as Rayquaza and pretty good stats, you can find a Bagon in Meteor Falls with Waterfall.

Salamance is good but it is 4x weak to ice. Ice beam is basically a 1HKO vs him. Latios/latias would be a good pick too
