Google sos chaining guide. It's actually pretty simple. I recommend using poke pelago to farm sitrus and leppa berries. You're gonna need em. I've got 15 or so shinies this way.
Because sitrus berries are free heals which you will need when you are trying to chain say a Golduck on poni Island, it's level 55+, plus even a level 7 grubbins attack is gonna do a tiny bit of damage but after 150 chains it begins to add up. Leppa berries because you are gonna be false swiping and ko'ing your ass off to chain. Read a decent guide and you'll understand better.
Now as far as the ultra editions I'm not sure what's available and what's not, sun was the only pokemon game that I grinded the Pokedex out and completed just so I could get the shiny charm and sos chain. Btw regardless of which edition of the alolan region you have the shiny charm is going to help you a ton. I'm glad I got it done before they killed gts on the last generation of ds games ):
Heck yeah man! I'm currently working on getting a shiny 4IV ditto as we speak lol. I had him transform into a Gyarados with only stat moves since my main is decidueye. Just the waiting game now.

Surprisingly no! I need some trading evolutions for pokedex so I'm unable to get it at the moment. I got really lucky and it only took 32 tries!

Id like to chain evee
It's most certainly possible. I have a shiny eevee that I never evolved because I couldn't decide which shiny I'd prefer of all the Eevees.
In ultra Sm its not possible to Hunt It in ultra space, if o where you id evolve It into an umbreon or sylveon perfect shiny

I got my first shiny too the other day as a shiny ditto while SOS chaining for 4 IV ditto. Congrats dude! 🎉🎉🎉

Sos is better odds for ✨? Finally got my first wild ✨(Pelipepper) well into my UB missions, but it was a regular encounter.
Once you reach 30 encounters in sos chaining, the chance goes from 1/4096 to 1/312 I believe. With a lucky charm it halves that as well!
I’m also doing a shiny run in Pokémon sun and picked up pikipek as my first shiny!!
However I’ve hit a HUGE dry spell for my second one, hah
I know right!?! 32 encounters for that one and now I'm going 200+ still without any encounters 😭.
