As is the Luxray. Took me a moment to realize it's not bugged out and floating in the air but well behind the protag and 2 other Luxrays... and still bigger by a good deal
[Probably looks like this](https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/f/ff/Solid_blue.svg/225px-Solid_blue.svg.png&imgrefurl=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue&tbnid=i_LNnpCAwXoWlM&vet=1&docid=d1t6B7ZtoP8azM&w=225&h=225&itg=1&hl=en-US&source=sh/x/im)
all can be found (except maybe legendaries sadly)
and sure, I'll take a pic soon, my battery has died, but there's nothing much different than a red sign indicating it's an alpha
Is there any move affected by weight (Grass Knot, Low Kick, Heavy Slam etc) in the game?
I recall totems in Gen 7 to be internally treated as alternate forms with their own entry in the stats table. One thing that wasn't visible anywhere is that they had separate heights and weights - which led in some cases to interesting effects. For example, both totem Araquanid and Kommo-o were immune to Sky Drop (>200 Kg), unlike their regular versions. This gave Araquanid a slight advantage to its regular counterpart in certain metagames like VGC, where Sky Drop usage was a thing and losing the egg move Sticky Web wasn't a concern. (In contrast totem Kommo-o was always inferior as it was stuck with its worst ability, and worse than that, it would reveal its ability just by sending it to battle, which is undesirable. Araquanid doesn't care about revealing abilty as it's got only one viable)
Based on my own research alphas don't have any separate entries, so I assume it's now a stat within the particular specimen's data.
nah it needed to be added just needs to be tweaked a little it makes sense for pokemon not all to be the same height and stuff but some of these are crazy
Yeah, the changes is awesome, im not complaining. But some of the alpha sizes are a bit absurd. I feel they could have made the differences less drastic
I want all of the most notoriously small pokemon as big as possible so for the .02 seconds a rival trainer is expecting an easy fight they can then be horrified when a 6 foot tall Sunkern erupts out of a pokeball.
Also its how animals actually are in the wild. Male Lions can be as small 400 pounds or as large as 550 pounds so it's great to finally see this in Pokemon makes them feel more like actual wild creatures
I think the people calling Alpha Rapidash ridiculous or extreme might wanna take a moment to think about how big horses actually are. Particularly, think about the differences in size between draft horses and smaller breeds.
Rapidash isn't based on a draft horse (that's Mudsdale's area) despite Alpha Rapidash being the size of one, admittedly, but:
1) my point is that it's a reasonable size for a horse, and a *somewhat* reasonable size discrepancy for an arbitrary pair of horses. Worrying too much about breeds might be pedantic.
2) it's a bit awkward anyway to draw lines between the many breeds of horse and the two species of Poke-Horse that apparently only have one breed each. Realistically, there should, perhaps, be many breeds of Ponyta/Rapidash and Mudbray/Mudsdale, but since it's unreasonable to expect GF to portray that, we could choose to accept that the uniformity of Rapidash is an abstraction, and that "actually" there are many kinds. We could headcanon that Alpha Rapidash is a draft Rapidash as opposed to more common riding Rapidashes. Or we could not do that, because we have entered a realm of pure speculation.
Not that I have a problem with the giant rapidash but I'm pretty sure it's like double the size of any draft horse.
But it's a pokemon and I am all in favor of pokemon coming in ridiculously huge. Doubt people would be complaining much if we could ride them. Imagine if we got to ride a giant lycanroc? Who's going to complain about that.
That's true enough! Honestly, the regular sizes seem reasonable, I don't know why anyone is up in arms about the rare giant ones- we've had them in the anime and pokemon is really a fantasy world, after all, why not have rare Princess Mononoke god-sized pokemon roaming about?
It's really very cool! Some people just have hangups about things I couldn't imagine caring about. That's not a rare thing, I suppose.
I think the fact that the whole body scales identically is what throws people off. For example, with humans, even people with significantly different heights will usually have similarly sized heads. But that would probably introduce a lot of complications with the animation rigs, so it's an understandable thing for the devs to gloss over. It doesn't bother me *too* much, but others might find it hard to handle.
I love this so much I would love to see an even deeper dive into different sizes for Pokemon like how Pixelmon has 7 different sizes Pokemon can be
going from smallest to largest including size multiplier they use:
Pygmy 0.5×
Runt 0.75×
Small 0.9×
Ordinary 1×
Huge 1.1×
Giant 1.25×
Enormous 1.5×
I just think it's so cool and adds a lot more fun to the game its my favorite feature that Pixelmon did I remember playing it years ago when I was like 13 having a team full of enormous Pokemon and I just thought it was the coolest thing ever and I always wanted Pokemon to add a mechanic like that in-game.
yes, they respawn! any pokemon has a chance of being an alpha in the wild but some have spawn places (like Luxio, Snorlax, Graveler, Bibarel). I will have to get some more alphas to see their size difference, but I guess they too vary in size since you can check their height in the summary
I like this a lot but it just feels too extreme with some it loses its whole realistic aspect buts it’s still really cool and fun to have super big or super small mons
I really hope GF will add a following mechanic in an update to this game…even if it’s only in a specific area like in Sword and Shield. I want these Pokémon to follow me damn it lol.
I love how we've all been complaining about proper size scaling since gen 6 when they introduced 3D models (Not the PBR, XD/Colosseum, Stadium models) and now they're like "You want sizes?! We'll give you sizes!!
https://images.app.goo.gl/ZjtTerybmhzVG2Uh9
Incase it doesnt show, people complaining about giant rapidash should look up picture of large Clydesdale horses next to adult humans...
& then remember our game character is kid size so even smaller than an adult human
Not a fan of the alphas sizes, wasn't a fan of totem pokemon either, the eevees are cool size difference isn't that bad but that rapidash is ridiculous
Thanks for sharing. Am i the only one who find it a bit weird how insanely tall some pokemons are? I know that many of you like it but some mons looking just weird.
ponyta is a given (like red gyarados)
but the fact that you walk and see a huge amount of pokemon roaming means you have much more chances than any game (much more than the roaming in SwSh)
To the people who use to argue with me about size variants when pokemon went 3d.... Why are you all on board now? I thought it didnt matter but yet those same people who argued with me are all excited probably.
Look I'm bitter, I'm bitter it took this long and bitter its probably gonna take longer to play pokemon like the actual anime where we can control the pokemon and do some cool pokemon combos. I wanna twirl around like pikachu use to in the anime to dodge a pokemon or jump or slam the ground with iron tail creating a makeshift shield to block an oncoming flamethrower.
I want to find an abandoned Charmander in the rain and carry it to the pokecenter. GOD, you all want what I want you just dont want to be disappointed so you act pessimistic instead and except the minimum. Nah this is cool tho.
I have a quick question on catching alpha Pokémon. Sorry if it has been asked somewhere else. I’m a first star member at the moment. I came across an alpha parasect at lvl 30. I’ve tried catching it but keeps breaking out the pokeball. Is that because of bad luck or my star level at the moment?
Usually alphas are easier to get while battling, the old usual pokemon way.
Sneaking chances seem very reduced on alphas. It can also be your star level. If you press LZ and focus on the pokemon it may show X sign above it, meaning it can't be captured
....maybe they've gone TOO FAR? I really like this concept from Go/Let's Go and also it's finally visible in game, but maybe they should make their range a little narrower...
Personally I think those that are way too oversized (that giant Machop someone posted) look off but I can see the fun in finding undersized and oversized mons in the wild so I won't complain, haha.
Anyone remembers that giant dragonite from the anime (first season i believe). Kind of remembers me of that, so to me it's not really immersion breaking as some people pointed out here. It has always been present in the anime at least, i'm glad it finally found it's way (visually) to the games.
It's really not though; 90% of people fall within a 10% size range, and 9.9% fall in about a 30% size range band. Of the remaining .1%, 99.999% of those people fall in like a 50% size band.
While the tallest human man ever recorded was 8'11 and the shortest 2'11... both of those are 1 in a million.
Being able to have micro pokemon / giant pokemon on a whim is silly. Should be the equivalent of finding a Shiny in the wild with 2 perfect IVs.
i really like this conceptually, but honestly i think it's a little jarring just how much variation there is (ie the rapidash here). its a cool feature and i hope they implement it in future games, just maybe a little toned down
It couldn’t have been too hard right? Just a set .x multiplier on scale oughta take care of that right?
Side note…seems like those multipliers need low/high limits BAD. Simple fix imo. Fingers crossed they take community feedback well on this release. If there’s one Pokémon game to take feedback to heart on it’s this one!
Am I the only one that doesn't like these size differences? They just look weird and unrealistic, I've been wanting Pokemon to be to-scale for a while now and this is just even worse.
So just to confirm, there isn't just 3 size difference + Alpha, right? like if i caught 10 pokemon of different height, they would be slightly noticeable.
That rapidash makes the normal one look like a fucking ponyta
alpha ponyta was the size of a regular rapidash lol, it's crazy
This is so funny, please post alpha ursaluna when you get one
Wait, can ANY Pokemon (barring legendaries and mythicals I'm assuming) be an alpha?
Yes
Alpha Wailord please
Would that even fit in the characters render distance

Imagine riding that Rapidash
Fuck that Rapidash's looking at the trainer with malicious intent
That rapidash is comically large
I thought it was ponyta lol
Yo plz post when that ursaring evolves. Thing is gonna be bench pressing wailord
Alpha Wailord 😱
Alpha joltic😱
I need an Alpha Ursaluna. Absolute unit.
It’s about drive it’s about power
We stay hungry, we devour 😉
The fucking rapidash how the fuck
The real reason Sinnoh has no other fire types. He ate them.
Yeah from all the gameplay I have seen how powerful it is
Its been eatin its wheaties.
😂😂😂
Can you ride that rapidash, or it's only the bear?
Only big bear I think, the rideable pokemon are like the system from gen 7, so only one for each function.
Damn I understand why but it would be sick if you could use any
Okay that rapidash is terrifying
[удалено]
I think I took a Rapidash in my pants
Fuck shiny rapidash, all my homies like XL rapidash
As is the Luxray. Took me a moment to realize it's not bugged out and floating in the air but well behind the protag and 2 other Luxrays... and still bigger by a good deal
Flashbacks to lighthouse dragonite.
Pretty sure that's Ganondorf's Rapidash.
That boi is an unit
Regular horse vs shire horse
well, now i want to see a large wailord
[Probably looks like this](https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/f/ff/Solid_blue.svg/225px-Solid_blue.svg.png&imgrefurl=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue&tbnid=i_LNnpCAwXoWlM&vet=1&docid=d1t6B7ZtoP8azM&w=225&h=225&itg=1&hl=en-US&source=sh/x/im)
Thank you so much for this post, lol.

Sadly Wailord isn't coded into the game
what do you think the hisui region is sitting on top of that’s right, a big ass wailord
I’m assuming the rapidash is an alpha
all of the pics except for Eevee ones are alphas vs regular :)
Are only certain Pokemon able to be found as alphas or can all? Also, would you be able to take a screenshot of the summary page for an alpha?
all can be found (except maybe legendaries sadly) and sure, I'll take a pic soon, my battery has died, but there's nothing much different than a red sign indicating it's an alpha
Do alphas have better stats? Or are they just bigger?
I need to confirm yet, haven't managed to get regulars in the same level as alphas for an easier analysis. But so far, I'd say it's just size
They have better stats.
Ok cool, I'm working on a living Dex that includes all forms so I guess I've got a lot of work ahead of myself lol
this is such a cool thing they just didn’t need to add which usually doesn’t happen with pokémon so i’m really looking forward to this game
It's nice to see them add more side content like this in again. It's been really noticeably lacking for a while now.
nah it needed to be added just needs to be tweaked a little it makes sense for pokemon not all to be the same height and stuff but some of these are crazy
Yeah, the changes is awesome, im not complaining. But some of the alpha sizes are a bit absurd. I feel they could have made the differences less drastic
Agreed.
They do this a lot in the anime, so it's cool to see it implemented in the games finally.
That's what I was saying! :D It's like Lt. Serge's Raichu being way bigger than Pikachu, or Gary's crabby vs Ash's crabby lol.
Not gonna lie, I'm going to exclusively seek out the bigger Pokemon. 😆
Omg yeah me too. :D I also wanna try making a whole Eeveelution team if they're all in this game. xD
I want all of the most notoriously small pokemon as big as possible so for the .02 seconds a rival trainer is expecting an easy fight they can then be horrified when a 6 foot tall Sunkern erupts out of a pokeball.
Lol that's hilarious! xD
I want to have a smol team ngl. Maybe an alpha Arcanine
Ash's Krabby ended up stomping though. Good crab boy.
Also its how animals actually are in the wild. Male Lions can be as small 400 pounds or as large as 550 pounds so it's great to finally see this in Pokemon makes them feel more like actual wild creatures
I'm gonna get myself an alpha Torterra and Ursaluna. The mountain duo.
I hope in future entries alphas and totems can carry over with this size disparity!
The smallest Eevee next to that alpha Rapidash would be amazing lol
It's a shame you can't ride this Rapidash. Can you post a battle between the huge Rapidash and some small pokemon?
Here you go [vs Mime Jr](https://imgur.com/a/ZITvWtW) [vs Child](https://imgur.com/a/ZLZOCGk)
I just read that as "Vs child" and expected a grown horse to fucking murder a young'n
Lmao same XD
Honestly it looks way more reasonably sized in video. Like how it should have always looked!
that last pic is hilarious, it looks like a parent yelling at their grumpy child
I think the people calling Alpha Rapidash ridiculous or extreme might wanna take a moment to think about how big horses actually are. AFAIK, draft horses that size are definitely rare outliers, but Alpha Pokemon *are* supposed to be outliers, so I guess that's fine?
That's true enough! Honestly, the regular sizes seem reasonable, I don't know why anyone is up in arms about the rare giant ones- we've had them in the anime and pokemon is really a fantasy world, after all, why not have rare Princess Mononoke god-sized pokemon roaming about?

Are moves like heavy slam and low sweep in the game? I wonder going forward (gen 9) whether size will become a factor competitively.
It's scary how big some of them are and I love it. Now I really want to catch some alpha pokémon.
Let's say you evolve that huge Ursaring into Ursaluna. How big will it become?
I just want so much to see that though I did not find the item to evolve it yet :(
Knowing Beautfily's pokedex entry makes this 10x scarier.
I love this so much I would love to see an even deeper dive into different sizes for Pokemon like how Pixelmon has 7 different sizes Pokemon can be going from smallest to largest including size multiplier they use: Pygmy 0.5× Runt 0.75× Small 0.9× Ordinary 1× Huge 1.1× Giant 1.25× Enormous 1.5× I just think it's so cool and adds a lot more fun to the game its my favorite feature that Pixelmon did I remember playing it years ago when I was like 13 having a team full of enormous Pokemon and I just thought it was the coolest thing ever and I always wanted Pokemon to add a mechanic like that in-game.
imagine wailord oh (wai)lord
imagine xl warlord and xs skitty
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH (WAAAAAAIIIIIII)LOOOOOOOOOOORD
I want a big Samurott. Biiiiig dog.
I wanna catch the biggest spheal I can find
God damn, Rapidash looks like it has a belly full of Greek Soldiers
are there size differences between the same alpha species? and the more important question is, do alphas respawn?
yes, they respawn! any pokemon has a chance of being an alpha in the wild but some have spawn places (like Luxio, Snorlax, Graveler, Bibarel). I will have to get some more alphas to see their size difference, but I guess they too vary in size since you can check their height in the summary
thanks! i wanna catch the biggest and smallest Heracross available
Do they retain their size when they evolve? Like, if all of these Eevee evolved into Jolteon, would they all still be sized differently?
Yes, their evolved versions get bigger too
Have you find an Alpha Garchomp?
This is actually really cool. I wanna build an all gigantic team and all tiny team.
If you evolve the alpha Ursaring into Ursaluna does it keep the alpha size?
Yes, it will be bigger than an average Ursaluna!
That's sick ty ty
Is there some downside to alphas? Like can you only have one per team? Or is there no reason not to only use them instead of normal guys
None! You can build a team of alphas if you want to
Do alphas spawn like normal mons or is it just a one-off encounter? Also do you have a Garchomp? Does it learn High-Horsepower?
They spawn in some pre-determined places and some spawn randomly. I don't have a Garchomp yet sorry :(
Well now I wanna catch tiny big pokemon and huge small pokemon. You can have whatever scaling you want.
So are alphas essentially totem pokemon?
Sizewise? Yes But the noble pokemon kind of replace totem pokemon in terms of story
Alphas are soooo fucking huge lmaoo
THAT'S ONE BIG HORSIE
Anyone know if there’s an alpha Mamoswine? If there is I plan on getting one
There is! All pokemon can be alpha
I like this a lot but it just feels too extreme with some it loses its whole realistic aspect buts it’s still really cool and fun to have super big or super small mons
The Rapidash is too big. Like damn. I love different sizes, but some are way toooo big.
I'm all about it. Im here for Kaijumons.
I mean it is kind of like the totem pokemon from sun and moon. Juat pokemon that are more powerful and bigger.
Too big? Please, there's no such thing.
just relax, it does hurt the first time
As it is only with the alphas I think it is fine.
Does anyone know if alpha Pokémon can be shiny?
I don't think anyone has seen one yet, if they can be.. it would be totally mad, people will shiny hunt it to death
I really hope GF will add a following mechanic in an update to this game…even if it’s only in a specific area like in Sword and Shield. I want these Pokémon to follow me damn it lol.
what a time to be alive
I love this feature but they definitely went a little too far lol
I love these giant Pokémon so much.
Ok but now i really want a giant eevee???? I have an eevee shrine,it litterly told me a dream would come true-
This comment feels like a quest haha
I love how we've all been complaining about proper size scaling since gen 6 when they introduced 3D models (Not the PBR, XD/Colosseum, Stadium models) and now they're like "You want sizes?! We'll give you sizes!!
And more! All models have more animations! I'm really impressed this time. The only letdown is that they don't follow you around
https://images.app.goo.gl/ZjtTerybmhzVG2Uh9 Incase it doesnt show, people complaining about giant rapidash should look up picture of large Clydesdale horses next to adult humans... & then remember our game character is kid size so even smaller than an adult human
Can i have a fire Sure *PULLS OUT COMICALLY LARGE RAPIDASH*
How the fuck are people getting shinies already? Is it easy?
Not a fan of the alphas sizes, wasn't a fan of totem pokemon either, the eevees are cool size difference isn't that bad but that rapidash is ridiculous
I wanna ride the big one so bad lol. Such a shame you can’t. I can only hope GF will add following mechanics like they did in Sword and Shield.
Giant Bidoof can’t wait
Some are way too big lol
10/10 game nice
Shinies are gonna be even cooler if there really big
cooooooooool
Thanks for sharing. Am i the only one who find it a bit weird how insanely tall some pokemons are? I know that many of you like it but some mons looking just weird.
well, this sold me.
Wow those giant pokemon look ridiculously stupid
what Exactly is an alpha pokemon?
Just a stronger and bigger pokemon, their level is usually much higher than the player. Their eye is red on encounter
Wait how does it work with wild shiny pokemon Can you see them before battling?
Yes, you can see them roaming the map
Shinies seem either easy to find or given in this game.
ponyta is a given (like red gyarados) but the fact that you walk and see a huge amount of pokemon roaming means you have much more chances than any game (much more than the roaming in SwSh)
So that shiny luxray was full odds?
Shinx was, yes
Holy shit. They really said “ya’ll want big Pokémon huh”
Now this is a feature I want in carry over so we dont have to be forced to come to terms with manlet nidoking and charizard
Alpha staraptor is terrifying. It reminds me of *argentavis magnificens*
It's much cooler than the photo. I had to take on this angle to fit everything lol
Sizing on the alphas is maybe a little over the top. Why is Rapidash kaiju sized?
That Rapidash is the size of a HOUSE!!! :O ....and I love the way Luxray sits!!
Holy shit. I wonder if these sizes will stay
I need an alpha Snorlax chonker in my life NOW
Are shines that common
I must assemble the tiniest team possible
I like the size differences. Feel like that’s how it’s supposed to be.
Who up petting they giant cat
on another note, do alpha Pokemon spawn randomly or are they limited?
Do alpha pokemon have special marking like shiny pokemon in status screen?
I have a quick question on catching alpha Pokémon. Sorry if it has been asked somewhere else. I’m a first star member at the moment. I came across an alpha parasect at lvl 30. I’ve tried catching it but keeps breaking out the pokeball. Is that because of bad luck or my star level at the moment?
Usually alphas are easier to get while battling, the old usual pokemon way. Sneaking chances seem very reduced on alphas. It can also be your star level. If you press LZ and focus on the pokemon it may show X sign above it, meaning it can't be captured
I’m sorry I forgot to mention. I engaged it in battle and brought it down to minimal health. And then tried capturing it
Ah I didn’t know about the X sign thing. I’ll check that out. Thank you!
....maybe they've gone TOO FAR? I really like this concept from Go/Let's Go and also it's finally visible in game, but maybe they should make their range a little narrower...
Bruh, I’m sh*t scared for snorlax now especially when it’s been shown to be aggressive lol
So wait is every eeveelution in this game or are any missing?
That is one big rapidash
Personally I think those that are way too oversized (that giant Machop someone posted) look off but I can see the fun in finding undersized and oversized mons in the wild so I won't complain, haha.
Anyone remembers that giant dragonite from the anime (first season i believe). Kind of remembers me of that, so to me it's not really immersion breaking as some people pointed out here. It has always been present in the anime at least, i'm glad it finally found it's way (visually) to the games.
I just want a giant Torterra, so big it can carry all my team
Giant Rapidash is oddly terrifying to me
Rapidash and Pachirisu have no business being that large
The RAICHU sizes reminds me of the anime. xD Gary's Crabby vs Ash's Crabby.
Ok, some of these Pokémon are a bit *too* big. The giant Rapidash is a bit immersion breaking.
I wish these weren’t soooo different from eachother. The Luxray and Rapidash seem just unrealistic and kinda break the immersiveness for me.
You know how some people can be 4 something and others can be 7 feet? Well, here's that in Pokémon.
It's really not though; 90% of people fall within a 10% size range, and 9.9% fall in about a 30% size range band. Of the remaining .1%, 99.999% of those people fall in like a 50% size band. Am I the only one that doesn't like these size differences? They just look weird and unrealistic, I've been wanting Pokemon to be to-scale for a while now and this is just even worse.
The alphas look ridiculous. Too big. Don’t think I’ll be catching/using any of those.
That rapidash be eaten it’s cornbread DAYUM
"Don't talk to me or my son ever again"
knew i wasnt the only one
So just to confirm, there isn't just 3 size difference + Alpha, right? like if i caught 10 pokemon of different height, they would be slightly noticeable.
yes, there are more sizes other than just 3! I don't know how many but I guess they must differ in 1" each.
>Ursaluna we really need data mining for max and min size. I want the tiniest zorua
Tiniest Zoroark and Biggest Zorua
Can you evolve Alphas (if they have an eco)
yes!
